hadnt seen anything on here about this so i figured i would post this article from the courier journal:

I'd heard about this, but didn't know any definite details so didn't want to post anything. If it is true that they have been recruiting athletes with monetary gains in return for the family, and it has been proven with this current football team, then they should have to just forfeit their game against Rockcastle this week and let a real team of high school kids who have done nothing against KHSAA regulations play in the state championship.

These things are terrible. Last season you have Highlands who I believe officially wins 2 games and the state championship. This season Lexington Catholic is down to the final 4 to win a state championship. If all of those scandals aren't cleaned up quicky, it's going to start jeopardizing the integrity of the game.

If Bell County didn't have to play an illegal team last season, maybe the Bobcats and Coach Hilton would have been celebrating a state championship last season instead of the Bluebirds celebrating their 16th.

This is really bad.

But do me a favor.

Let's just not let the mistakes of one reflect what 99.9% of the private schools around the state that do things the right way.

If this is true the KHSAA needs to come down on them REAL hard.

KHSAA is going to have to grow a bigger pair and start giving some of these schools the death penalty of sorts.

Start really hitting them hard and hitting them all fairly across the state and stop some of this crap.

So they have 15 days to appeal and guess what 15 days from when they got the letter would be Championship Friday. And the 15 might be business days you never know. But either way they keep winning they wait the full 15 days then it puts it back into the hands of the KHSAA with no ruling until after the Championship has been played. AAA screwed up again this year.

Here is another heads up--the St. X cross country team was just told (by the KHSAA) that they are not permitted to travel to the Nike Team Nationals.

Is this a sign that the KHSAA is starting to crack down on the non publics?

KHB I'm totally unfamiliar with the cross country scene hope this doesn't sound stupid but why would they not be allowed to attend?

Good question. At this point--there hasn't been a clear answer.

This is getting to be interesting. It is EXTREMELY hard for a team to make the Nike Team Nationals (16 teams in the country make it--that is it).

The logic is flawed. Since cross country is officially "over", St X can not be coached by their coach and they can not "officially" represent their school. All of those things have been cared for (according to St. X). Word on the street is that they feel like they are being targeted by the KHSAA because they are a private school.

I get the feeling that this one will get really ugly.

Time will tell if these things are related. But it is hard to think that they are not.
