Hmm...

I'm not involved at all with Lone Oak's football program, but there are admittedly a few difficulties that we might face, particularly in defense. But I've heard rumors that this team is supposed to be better than last year's team, so I'm rossing my fingers!

I'd say that the proposed list of Bell, Boyle, Lone Oak, and Lexington Catholic looks like the most plausible list of which a 4A State Championship will arise. Out of the west, although I certainly hope that it doesn't occur, Allen County Scottsville might end up causing and upset. Marion was also a very good ball team, and Franklin-Simpson has potential. But I would still stack my money on the "Big Four".

I wish all of these teams luck in the 2010 season, thats for sure!

You have no idea what you are talking about. Last year Highlands ran the ball more than they threw it and you are not going to beat Boyle County by running the ball. You have to be able to effectively pass the ball against Boyle Couty to beat them. While I am not saying Boyle County would have beaten Highlands, I will say it would have been much closer than you think. A Boyle victory over Highlands would not have surprised me at all. I feel Bell County and Lone Oak could have been successful against Highlands as well. Again.....I'd love to see the Rebels and Bluebirds meet up again. It'd be a good game.

I agree boyle co had the best defense i saw all year. no body stopped our running game all year long until we met them.Highlands maybe could of beat them but they would of had to earn it .

we went 8-6 last year we played Male ,Ballard,Bryan Station , Butler and Desales. We lost to Marion County in the Regional Championship Game.We also have an all state CB that got 20 INT's in the last two years.We are pretty good but and a highly respectable team when it comes playoff time .But everybody in this forum say we are not because they off of Boyle County SACK!!!!!!!(P.S you can say we are the fastest 4A team in the state. Also the school is in Louisville)

Nobody has said that Louisville Western is not a very good 4a team. But until they beat one of the top 4 or 5 then they should not be mentioned as equal Cavery59. You said that most 4a coaches would rather play Bell and Boyle than have to play Western and that is simply not the case. Western had a very good season and should be very good this year but to be considered in the top 4 or 5 you have to beat someone in the top 4 or 5. Do you understand this. I honestly have nothing against Western.

That's all, Cavery. To be the best you have to beat the best and since Kentucky reclassified and went to 6 classes the four most consistent and best teams have been Lexington Catholic, Bell County, Boyle County and Lone Oak. Nobody is trying to disespect Western but until Western defeats at least one of those teams you can't expect to be considered one of the heavyweights. Especially if you lost to Marion Couty before you could even reach part 1 of the Big 4. Keep working hard and maybe we'll see you guys matched up against one of the Big 4 and we'll see what happens. East Jessamine might not be among the top 4 this year but should do well in 4A. IMO they have one of the best if not the best OL in 4a in Zack Templin.

i am not a guy that rides a band wagon but i know good teams when i see them and without a doubt boyle bell lexcath and lone oak are very good and if western was so good then understand that the team western lost to was beaten 45-28 by lone oak who was beaten by boyle in double overtime so how can you classified western as one of the best 4a school around when like i said before the scorebroad does not lie

Yes, I'm sure that Western would have held up much better against the #1 Class 4A offense in the state. And Lone Oak can't run the ball, thats why we got the third highest amount of rushing yards on Boyle out of the fifteen games that they played, including Bell County and Bourbon County.

I'm not saying that you're a bad team, but I don't think that you would have done better than Marion County (a great rushing team, btw.) Besides, there is almost no team like Lone Oak. This isn't saying that we are the best out of everybody, but playing us is way different than playing most any other team.
