Kentucky Football ticket prices going up
#1
Get ready to open up your wallets just a little bit more UK football fans, as ticket prices are going up for the 2010 season. Single game tickets are increasing by 6 bucks, while season tickets are going up by 37-dollars, plus a 50-dollar increase in the required contribution to the K-fund.
Mitch Barnhart says that “the cost of doing business for everyone in any business is going up”, leading to the increase. He did not rule out the possibility that tickets prices might increase at Rupp Arena as well.

Kentucky estimates that the ticket increase will bring an extra 3 million dollars to the athletic department. Barnhart also argued that despite the increase in prices, UK still offers the 5th cheapest season ticket prices in the SEC.

Now, while I find it a little odd to raise ticket prices in a poor economy and following a mediocre season, from Barnhart’s perspective it makes sense, because he knows that those people who choose to not renew their tickets because of the increase will quickly be replaced by those that are willing to pay. And as I heard someone mention this morning, men are willing to pay 150 dollars for a round of golf at a fantastic course, but complain about 250 dollars for SEVEN football games. So, any way you look at it, the tickets are going to be sold and it’s just the price of watching SEC football.

I don't know if anyone else feels the same way, but you don't have to post every single article that's on Kentucky Sports Radio.

Our ticket prices are at the bottom of the SEC. If we want to become a contender in the SEC then we (the fans) are going to pull more cash out of the wallet.

If it's bothering you, then don't click on the threads.

Doesn't bother me one bit at all, just think people probably see it because they go to ksr enough. But hey, if he likes doing it, good for him, but if he thinks he's getting info out, I'd say more get it from there rather than here.

I think that UK is 7th in the SEC. I think that is around what we will be for a while but jacking the prices a little will not hurt too much.
