Best Players To Watch 2011 Class

Not necessarily true, PP92. There have been other Mr Football winners who did not sign with any KY college. I mean, I love watching Lamar play and hope he ends up at UK...but don't think it will "give" him Mr Football....IMHO

Whatever, Sportzanimal. We ALL know that when it comes to Mr. Football or Mr. Basketball that if a kid is a contender for Mr. Football or Mr. Basketball if the kid signs with UK it increases his chances to win the award. You can admit it or not but we all know it's true. I think Lamar should win it regardless but him signing with UK would only increase his chances. Coaches that have never heard of him will find out quickly when he signs with the Wildcats.

PP92..... For argument sake, I hope you're right. Though, we both know, they screwed a BC Rebel from Mr Football this past season.... So, I can see it again

Nathaniel Lightner from Lewis County is going to be a junior. He is 6'2" 335 lbs, bench presses 410, squats 450(with a bad knee, he could probably get more if it weren't for that), dead lifts 485 with ease on that bad knee, and power cleans close to 300.

Exactly. Had Rees(Mr. Football) MacShara signed with UK he'd be Mr. Football. If Lamar stays healthy and has the season we both know he's capable of having AND signs with UK, I say he wins it. If he doesn't sign with UK, I can see him getting screwed too regardless of the season he has.

Now this guy will light people up.

I would hope so. He broke the record for School High record for most tackles in his first game as a freshman.

Also, Jay White-WR and Bryan Rankin-RB will be graduating in 2012 and Daryll Beatty-WR and John Sizemore-RB will be graduating in 2013.

Those are pretty big numbers for someone no one has heard of. He should have lifted in the state championship meet...he would have placed first with numbers like that.

Another note I seen a kid this past weekend I was at UK's scrimmage...apparently they had some Recruits there...a lot of nice looking athletes. There was a kid that was enormous...I got a chance to talk to him and he said he was 6'11" 330, but I think he was more like 6'9 or 6'10 350+. HUGE! Plays for Newport Central Catholic. He said he didn't play much due to a hurt ankle last year.

I would say there are going to be inflated numbers where ever you go. We will see. I think the saying is...you don't use a bench press or squat rack on the football field. Those numbers are only good if they transfer on the field.

The 6'11" kids name is Jake Gruenschlaeger and he is huge. I was at the scrimmage with Zack Templin who was there for Jr Day. He stood next to Jake and he made him look small at 6'5" 296.

Just seems to be getting better and better.

Zack Templin (OL East Jessamine) and Lamar Dawson ( LB Boyle Co.) were the only players from Kentucky that made the All-Camp team at the NFTC at Ohio state on 05/01/2010. 25 players made the team. Also Dawson took home LB MVP honors at the event.

Great job guys! Keep showcasing your talent...

SportzAnimal Wrote:EXCEPT for 6'3" 235lb Lamar Dawson from Boyle County... This kid is a MONSTER on the field! Hope he continues to improve his game. If he does, then he should win Mr. Football. I know how hard it is for a Defensive player to win it, but this guy can do it.

never said anything about him being better....but he does read the feild better he isnt as athletic to get their as is dawson but his reading ability comes with just football smart..being around the game his hole life...

As already said JD Hilton FB/LB. As fundmental of a football player you will ever see. With suprising athletic ability. Always in the right place at the right time.

Ben Madon 6'4" QB with a good arm and good speed. Ben will open a lot of eyes. May also be the most talented Round baller to come out of Bell in a number of years.

Justin Patterson 6'4" TE/DL Big with good speed and getting stronger. Could be a bigtime DL.

Dominic Carton HB/DL/LB Can do it all. Good speed and quickness, with tremendous (D-1) closing speed.

Dudley is overrated. Also heard that Dominic got kicked out of school or dropped out. Gilliam and Canady from Kc are going to be dominant for kc

How do you figure John Dudley is overrated? look at a sheet of paper with his stats, then talk.

Lamar Dawson came in to the camp heralded as the top player in Kentucky and quickly showed why. He brings a ton of intensity to the table and was destroying all-comers in the one-on-one pass rush drills. Kentucky leads Florida, USC, Alabama and Notre Dame.

A couple more KY kids made noise at OSU camp...

Kyle Bolin - QB - LexCath
Zeke Pike - QB - Dixie Heights

I would like to mention three linemen from Sheldon Clark, for we seem to focus on the backs, and that is completely understandable. But without the line, obviously, the backs would not be very exciting.

The three that come to mind are: Chris Sloan, Channing Smith, and Corey Crum. These three guys are invaluable to the success of SC in the ensuing season.

It is only natural to watch the backs, for they have the ball, but if you watch the linemen on offence, you can see some tremendous blocks. And on D, you can see some super tackles.

Let's not forget to give the linemen praise and credit for doing their job!

We will see how overated the CATS and Dudley are. OH BTW, Carton is back in, can't wait for the game, SAME OLD STORY!!!!
#83
Dudley and the Cats are not overrated. They will be as good as the last two seasons. If KC can stay within 14 points they should view it like a win.
