Jarrod Polson to UK?
#1
From what I'm hearing, Coach O will speak with Jarrod tomorrow about a preferred walk on spot with the opportunity to earn a scholarship his sophomore year.

Stay tuned.

The coaching staff also invited Jarrod to play in a pickup game with the team.

You're not the only one hearing it man, everybody who's anybody in KY is reporting it.

Please tell me this is a rivalry you have with kywildcat01 and not jealousy because Polson is getting looked at by UK, like Elisha was/is.

Not saying any of that is for certain. Not saying that it's jealousy. Just stating from what I read in this post that there is some sarcasm, etc.

I think that after Elisha stuck with his committment to the cards that it would be a really nice gesture to do this for a Kentucky boy. I would love to have him on the team and create even a lil more fan support for the Kentuckian pipeline. Hope he does well in the pickup game today.
#6
if the kid cant get a scholarship with 9 of them coming open he isnt getting one ever
#7
Its good to know that the 12th region has produced another D1 prospect. Congrats to West Jessamine and Jarod Polson.

I wouldn't consider this a "nice gesture" and make it sound as if Polson is a charity case. He has been the best point guard at the sweet 16 the last two years, so I can understand why the UK coaching staff would want him.

I hope this isn't true he wont help us

So, how long you been playing? How much eligibility do you have left? How come you aren't going pro? You are obviously a member of the team and very knowledgable, so I'm curious to know how long you've been in the program.

Polson is a Kentucky kid that would be a contributor if given a chance. Maybe never a star...not saying that. Playing for a school you love is not to be discounted, and add ability into the equation and he has a chance. Not saying he will be John Wall, but this kid can play. Very underrated. If he had Justice's supporting cast, his stock would have been much better.

Congrats to Polson. Hope he plays well in the pickup game also.

I didn't mean for nice gesture to be condesending. I just mean that it is a great thing for UK to keep the blue collar kind of players in state to keep the fanbase statisfied. I know that Cal understands the situation that if he keeps passing on these kind of hard working and solid players, then the fans are going to keep questioning why or why not, because the bench can not got 13 deep. I think that Polson was one of the strongest players in the state and in the tourney the only point guard better was Elisha and it was pretty close. I think that Polson would be a GREAT get for Cal to show the state that he wants to keep the " Playing for Kentucky idea" alive for the home-grown talent. I promise you that I didnt mean it to slight Polson's abilities and talent. I am well aware of how good of a player he is.

gratz to polson. with elisha sticking to the cards it would be nice to see a kentucky boy at UK. VERY talented player.

to say he was the best point gaurd at the sweet 16 the past two years is a little far fetched though. not taking away from Polson. just being real

omfg, are you seriously trying to start crap with me on a daily basis on here? I was stating that this is big time news, and that everyone in KY is jumping on this story. Wow, give it a break.

But I will go against what kywildcat says and say that Elisha has been the best PG at the Sweet 16, not Polson. There's a reason Elisha won Mr. Basketball, a state title, and a state MVP, and it's not because someone else was a better player at his position.

Polson had a lot of talent, when I watched the Sweet 16. IMO he was the second best guard in the tourney
#17
Good fit for UK. Best player in the state this year!

Nooooooooo.

Justice was the best player in the state, Remember on march 19th when Shelby Valley beat West Jes. by 14.

These two are just stirring up the old pot. Don't let it get under your skin. All that matters is that Shelby Valley has two state titles this season, Mr. Basketball, and the AP Coach of the year.

Those are the facts. Who cares what the opinions of a couple of randoms are on BGR?

Polson is a very nice player. Congrats and best of luck with this opportunity...

Agreed. Polson was great but just a notch below Elisha's level. Some credit has to go to a kid that guides his team to a state title so I will say that Elisha is slightly more worthy of that title.

Was there and it was a show. Both were amazing to watch go at it, biggest difference, was Elisha's defense.

That is one amazing state line for the season, MVP of Mountain classic, All A back to back MVP, 59th district and 15th region MVPs, sweet 16 MVP, and the Mr. Basketball.

With the team having back-to-back 59th district titles, 15th region titles, and All A state titles, WYMT mountain classic champions, Sweet 16 champions, and AP coach of the year. Man that probably will not happen around the mountains for a while.

If Coach Cal picks a kid, that kid issssssss good. Coach Cal doesn't play around.
#23
Does anyone have video on Polson?
#24
I couldnt find a video on just Polson but I did in fact find one for West Jessamine. I dont think it will help to much but you see Polson during practice.
#25
I'd rather have justice or Pittman
#26
Congrats to Polson, IMO he can definetly play at this level. I don't think he should have to go as a walk on though. UK needs to look at longer range committments and developing talent instead of one year and done deals.
#27
Congrats to Polson(one of the most underrated players in the state before the sweet sixteen) this good news. IMO Polson was one top guards in the state all year and was probably the second best player I saw at the state tourney this year. Polson is one of the smoothest players I saw this year, he is deceptively fast and a (very good) ballhandler that seems to be able to get about were he wants on the court to get his shot. I think they have him listed at 6'3" but with a wingspan like he has he seems to play a little bigger. IMO he has to improve on his perimeter shooting and get a little stronger and if he does, I'm not saying he would be a star but I think in a couple of years that he could be a solid contributer at this level. I wish him the best and would like to see him get the chance to play at UK.
#28
hope he gets a shot.
#29
could be a good addition to the KY connection. We always need KY natives
#30
I think Polson is better a player than Justice with more upside. Shelby Valley beat West Jessamine and won 2 state titles this year because Shelby Valley had a better TEAM than West Jessamine not because of the point guards. If Polson and Justice switched teams the results would be the same.
