this morning Dave Fraley resigned as the head coach at Knott County Central
04-05-2010, 01:45 PM
Wasnt he expected to be one and done anyway ?
04-05-2010, 01:48 PM
Interesting...........
04-05-2010, 01:49 PM
I heard this at the state tourny not much of a shock here.

Dave came in and done what he was asked to do, take the Patriots back to Rupp. He did that and in no way should the folks in Hindman be upset at his resignation.

Coach Fraley did what he suppose to do and that was lead Knott County to the Sweet 16 and at his age and all what he accomplished he can retire and enjoy life. Guess he wanted to join the likes of Wall, Cousins, Bledsoe and Orten in being one and done but he will go down as one of the best coaches in state history

Used KCC to get himself to go out on top, saw they had a good team and was the regional favorite before he took over. This one season set the program back a couple of years as far as the future is concerned. Hire another coach KCC.
04-05-2010, 05:34 PM
who does everybody think it will be ?

Tough to hire a coach at this stage unless you have one already in the system.

Chris Amburgey would be the perfect fit. Already in the system and coach of the year.

I do hope you are joking.

Fraley wasn't that great of a coach anyway, I mean he took an All-Star Knott team to state..not a hard task.
04-06-2010, 12:11 AM
KCC should've never got rid of Amburgey, He wouldve took KCC to state, Heck my ol dog could've took that team to state. Oh well
04-06-2010, 12:27 AM
How about Honeycutt back to KCC?
04-06-2010, 12:42 AM
Don't forget Fraley has been to state tournament before. He was a good coach. In 1986 he took Pulaski County to the championship game and defeated Pleasure Ridge Park for the title. This was the year of the controversial semifinal game between Hazard and Pleasure Ridge Park.
Reggie Hanson played on the Pulaski Co. team.

Remember what I said earlier in the year under the topic "14th region coaches going and staying"?......

Well it was kinda joke or wishful thinking, but if he's good enough to get coach of the year and coach a girls team with apparently no talent(joke), since none of them got any recognition then why not the boys?

If it was not for Amburgey Knott would be back to back 14th region champs. No one was sad to see him go...so obviously a dog could take them to state but Amburgey could not.

Best thing for Knott when Justin was removed, Chris would of been next if the girls wouldn't of made him look so good this year.
New Coach at KCC will be Cavanaugh Trent, along with AD, that is why he was moved over their and that is what will happen, UNLESS, they can coax Coach Al Holland away from Hazard, you never know around here what will happen, will be definitely fun to watch and see how this coaching wheel turns this year.

He took the team through a very tough district and region. We werent lucky enough to have a east schedule like SV. We won the region on6 points. Won the game against Perry down 10 points and 2 min to go.. The team won by 2. That was something good job boys good job coach.

Agree with all of the above.
However, I don't think Trent will be the AD if he is also the head coach. Since Knott County has one athletic director for high school as well as elementary.

WHAT A JOKE!!!!! You were however lucky enough to draw the weakest team in the state tourney other than yourself and you couldn't win that one... Lets see how the mighty 14 region champs did outside their protective shell of the 14th region (52 pt loss to a Senaca team with an 8-8 district record, or Henry Clay 16-17 on the season) And PCC boasts about beating SV.. Just a strong arguement as to how corrupt it really is in the 14th IMO...

This post barely makes enough sense to comment on...however, everyone knows the 15th is weak. Sorry. Shelby Valley was killing people then came to the wymt won by 3 to Knott and came to Perry later and got beat..
I will be the first to say Shelby Valley was a great team and deserves everything they have gotten this season.
BUT THE 15TH IS DOWN!

It think it makes perfect sense.. Even backed it up with facts... I just get sick of ppl still talking about SV's weak schedule or how weak HS BB was this year... Just another jab at SV's success! That is what sparked my remarks.. The easy schedule comment!! SV played Christian Co, some of the Nation's best teams in Fla, J-town, Miller-Grove Ga, and a host of good teams to win the All-A and some ppl still say they had an easy schedule.. As for SV playing in the 15th they cannot help that.. Booher was more than willing to oblige anyone anywhere who wished to play SV this year!

As the previous post noted, Shelby Valley played several tough teams outside their region. Then, they concluded their season by going on to win the State Tournament, for goodness sake! What more can you expect You certainly can't help the quality of teams in your district or region. You simply play whoever is scheduled, then on to bigger and better opponents. In the end, Shelby Valley proved their worth by convincingly winning the state tournament! Give this fine group of young men some credit.

Fraley was hired to get KCC to the state. IMO not a hard task with the talent they had this season. Al Holland will not be at Knott, keep dreaming.

Almost got beat by Letcher Central. Hazard missed a wide open layup. A foul was called on Perry Central at a time that they are normally not called. That was outstanding coaching. They should take away the state title from Shelby Valley and give it to the Knott Central/June Buchanan All-Stars. LOL.

Good luch to you will need it. better check your stats agagn
