Estill County Job?
#61
Brad Sizemore, assistant coach at South Laurel High School has been contacted about the Estill County position. He would be a great fit in Irvine bringing in a style of play that would take over the 14th. He has been successful at every level and will continue to be successful at the varsity level. I hope EC gives this young man a chance.

To gumpie: I take none of your comment seriously. There are many who have been mentioned in this forum that are interested, capable, and being considered for the Estill County job. Unless an administrator, you cannot say who is and who is not “in the picture.” And I am sure that you are no administrator; for no Estill County superior would stoop to the level of an internet forum in order to discuss the private manner of hiring a high school basketball coach.

To KoJack: With all due respect to South Laurel’s assistant, what kind of style could instantly take over the 14th Region, especially with a team that was only 4-23 last year? There is no style that could bring that kind of success. Estill needs a long-term coach who will have the “instant” commitment of his players and the community, only then can the foundations be built for a successful style.
And at what levels has the South Laurel assistant been successful? I doubt being an assistant would count as any level of independent success.

Jon Bentley, current assistant at Perry Central, will be interviewing with Estill County Saturday. Personally, I would love to see Jon get this chance to become a head coach for the first time and I wish him the best of luck in his interview Saturday.

Just a rumor, but I heard that Jeff Honeycutt of Cordia was interested in the Estill job. He's a good coach.
#65
There are several schools after Sizemore, If they want him they better go after him because he won't be on the table very long. I have heard his name mentioned for several openings, his Kentucky Elite teams have performed well at both the state and national levels and he will be a head coach somewhere next season. Estill County would be very fortunate to have a young coach this talented.
#66
so are there any new updates about this job?
#67
Honeycutt will not be leaving Cordia and Hall will be right there at Powell County.
I'm pretty sure the new coach of Estill County will be, none other than......................................Former Hazard player, D1 standout, current PCC assistant coach, JON BENTLEY. Pretty sure this is who should be taking over for the Engineers. Would be a great person for the job in my opinion, he does know his basketball.

The Same Thing Was said on another site

now there is a rumor of Al Holland

Sizemore will be interviewing for the job Wednesday. As with everyone on this site I do have an opinion and I feel that Sizemore would do more for the Engineer program than any of the ones mentioned before.

i believe it will come down to Brad Sizemore and Jon Bentley
#72
Sizemore would make a excellent choice, he will be a great head coach.
#73
Where are the local applicants in this equation? I know there have been multiple local people apply for the Estill job; they need to be in the discussion. It is senseless not to consider them frontrunners.
#74
Is that based the success the program has had?
#75
That would be based on the quality of the local applicants, all of whom have had tremendous success at institutions separate from and much larger than Estill County High School.

Who Would They Be???

all i know is what i posted on here
#77
i wish the Administration nothing but the best throughout this Process and whoever they hire to lead the Engineers!

Best Wishes Guys!
#78
i'm sure they will do a great job and pick the best person for the job. They picked a great coach the last time and he left the prograhm in the best shape it has ever been in. Who ever comes in as coach will win with the kids that are coming back and a years of experence under there belts. So good luck and move on Estill co.
#79
Jon Bentley interviewed Saturday (March 27th) and from what i hear it was a good one and they could be hiring soon.

Estill is taking this process longer than i thought they would

who's the coach???
#82
i've heard that Tim Parks (Head Coach June Buchanan) is the leading candidate, now how true it is idk or how long ago that it was said
#83
I think Parks would be a great choice for Estill Co, but I don't think he has even had an interview yet how could he be the frontrunner?

just what i heard.
#85
Sure haven't heard his name mentioned from anyone, I can see why he would want out of JBS, but unless he came into the equation late, he wasn't involved, but anything can happen when coaches are being hired. Will keep an ear out. Still think Bentley would be the better choice over Parks.
#86
I believe they had around 40 applications, and they said they were going to interview about 4 or 5, including Sizemore, Bentley and Parks, the others could of been within the school maybe. They have said they probably won't make a decision until next week.
#87
Who else would have "been within the school" besides Mr. Christopher?
#88
Any news on the job this morning? I heard over the weekend the job was offered to Coach Honeycutt from Cordia, but was turned down. He changed his mind and didn't want to leave his father here at home.
#89
I know of one coach that was going to be interviewed that has not been mentioned anywhere on any of the boards. That tells me that the administration is keeping this very close to the vest. I think the new coach will be a surprise to everyone. JMO

Is he from out of the 14th region? I have heard several from the 14th would be interested: Brian Hall(Powell), Honeycutt(Cordia), Parks(JBS), Bentley(Assist. PCC)
Then you have Sizemore from South Laurel, but heard he turned it down and went another direction. Could be interesting to see who comes out on top.
