Shelby Valley's Elisha Justice recruited by Kentucky
#1
Seen this on another site, thought I'd share.

"Just got word that one of UK's asst. coaches contacted SV's coach earlier this week about Justice to UK for next year. They said they will have atleast 6 or 7 scholarships open next year and are interested in getting a few more guards for next year. Brandon Knight is a lock for Ky I believe, but I bet that was an interesting conversation."

Could a mod, please add the last name Justice to my thread title?

Thanks.

Which site did you get this off of? I havnt heard anything like this on any UK website.
#4
It's off the "other" site.
#5
That would be awesome if he came to UK!!

As a walk-on, which means he isn't officially Louisville's yet. Still a ways to go.

Just a verbal committment to be a preferred walk-on.

UK could still be an option sometime soon over the next month.

hate to say it but he probally wouldnt get to play much like Hood, with all the others you know Cal would bring in,though i think he is better than Hood
#10
I would love to see it happen. I think that he has all of the make up to make it to that point. UK will have the space and I know that Cal would love to make th Kentucky people even happier. I do not think that anyone expects him to come in and be a starter in the next few years but he will be an excellent body in practice and back up.
#11
The reason John Hood doesn't play is because he can't defend. Justice as we all know is quick as a cat, and could prob. see some minutes because of his ability to defend. NOT saying he would start , but he would play more then Hood or Krebs ..haha basically any of the other white guys on the team.
#12
Sorry to you all but Justice is not better than Hood, or anywhere close IMO.

Hood has been playing against John Wall and Bledsoe all year, you think that hasn't made him leaps and bounds better than when he got to UK?
.

I am an UK fan but he would be proabley be better off staying with Louisville. I hope where ever he goes he gets to play.
#14
If I were him I would choose to go to Louisville. He has a much better chance of actually getting to play at Louisville than at Kentucky. He is a good player, but I just don't see him getting much if any playing time at UK. He should be able to do good where ever he goes though.
#15
If he gets a full-ride at UK he has to go there.
#16
I would love to see him go to UK, but personally I believe its just a rumor at most. I just hope he gets playing time.
#17
Has anyone heard any other news on this.
#18
As far as playing time, he will get more at UL. If he goes to UL, I will get to watch him play one time a year, if he plays in that game. If he goes to UK, I will get to see him play everytime he hits the floor.
#19
I think that Louisville would be a better fit for Elisha, as he actually has a chance at PT their and he'll learn more about the attacking zone defense that Pitino runs and SV ran.

Although, I'd much rather see him riding the bench at Kentucky any day, because I hate Louisville.

you do make a good point there..

I dont see him getting a scholly at UK. I dont see him walking on at UK cause Cal doesnt like walk ons. HOWEVER, in this case it would be nice to 'steal' a walkon from UofL. I'd like to see Cal let him walk on, it would be a big PR move and Cal has done EVERYTHING right so far...

Exactly I think Cal realizes that it is a PR boost for the state.

of the recruits we are in on I dont know who you "pull" a scholly from for Justice. But I'd LOVE to see him at UK. Even if he doesnt see the floor the way it would rally this region around the UK family (even moreso than it already is) would be worth having Justice around. Plus a good kid, who will graduate, and most likely maintain a high GPA throughout his career would be well worth doing something a little different (for Cal).

Well, if EJ came to UK then he would also practice against great players as well. Elisha can handle the ball just a good as Wall. You will say i'm stupid but think about it. EJ keeps his dribble down very low. Wall keeps his dribble at an average height. I'm not saying he is as good as Wall but I do believe he can handle better. The dribble drive is the perfect offense for EJ. He fits the system better than Hood. After winning Mr. Basketball though, that will help him prlly sign with a D-1 school. Also, he will be in that all star game, which would help as well.

Do UK fans really think you're going to get 7 players coming in this year on scholarship? You all only pulled in 6 last year and just gave the last one to Krebs. If Orton and Blesdsoe leave that's 8 scholarships, just one of them leaving makes 7. I don't see UK bringing in 5 more players after Kanter and Poole. Maybe Knight, Leslie, and 2 more, but not 3 or 4 more.

2011 is gonna be a big class for UK. Saving a couple scholarships wouldnt be a bad thing. There's no way Cal will give a guy like Justice a scholly. Just no way, he's not explosive enough, not athletic enough. For the EJ having better handles than Wall, haha, thats hilarious man. The height you dribble means NOTHING about your handles, while Rondo may have a better handle than Wall, no way Elisha does. Thats not taking anything away from him either, and its not fair to compare him or very many to Wall honestly... All that being said a walkon spot would be a great gesture and huge PR move for UK, plus there's no harm there, no scholly tied up for 4 years...

I"m not comparing him to Wall. He is defiently no wall. I'm just saying that when I look for a PG, the first thing that I look at is how he handles the ball, and EJ has handles of a D-1 PG. Wall does have great handles and doesn't get picked that much. But EJ wont get picked either. And you saying that he's not athletic, nore explosive enough is hilarious to man.

Ok... Look at it like this, Cal recruits kids at the guard spots usually around or bigger than 6'3". Bledsoe is an exception, is EJ as athletic as Bledsoe? no... Bledsoe got the nod from Cal because his athleticism made up for his height or lack thereof. EJ doesnt have that sort of athletic ability (few do). Brandon Knight has it, Josh Selby has it, Terrance Ross and Jones have it, Doron Lamb has it, CJ Leslie has it... On and on, those are the guys Cal will give scholly's to. I'm NOT knocking EJ at all, he's just not going to get a scholly at UK...

I see where you are coming from, EJ isnt as athletic as these guys. But I still think he has D-1 athleticism. I tell you one thing though. People have been telling EJ all his life that he cant do this, or he cant do that, but he always proves them wrong. If anyone tells him that he cant earn a scholly at UK, he'll work his tail off to prove them wrong as well.

No one has contacted SV from UK about any offers, however, Pitino and his staff were invited to watch EJ accept the Mr. Basketball award tomorrow at Shelby Valley.
