Ashland Kelsee Hammonds crushed a two-run homer to highlight Ashland's nine-run first inning and the defending 16th Region champs began a new season by rolling past Fairview.
Kathryn Jackson went 3-3 and drove in three runs for Ashland. Junior pitcher Katelyn Miller allowed only two hits in six innings and finished with 10 strikeouts. Ashland plays host to Boyd County on Thursday at 5:30.
