14th Region Coaches: Going Or Staying?

Platinum & Gold Wrote:I see, how old is Coach hensley, would he be around for the long term, looks like he is 50's

i think he is like 54 someone told me. and he has been around ball alot in his life so he should do just fine on his own. and he aint to old to be coaching u got to look at knotts coach :1:
#92
wasn't insinuating he was to old, was just asking.

Be a good opportunity for someone that old to be head coach if he wants a head coaching position.

Be neat to see him to take them to rupp sometime

the only job that is open right now is the estill co job. i hate that also becauce i think Larry was the best coach in the 56th jmo. The worse thing that could happen to Estill is if Hall leaves Powell and Tiller took that job because if he did he would control the 56th as long as he coached Powell.I understan that Powell co jv coach is leaving he was a very good coach and a very class man good luck to him in what ever he does.So think about that Larry Tiller head coach at Powell co,

I have heard Coach Noble will be back next year. I have also heard Arch Turner wanted to fire Noble but the majority of the board members want Doug to be the coach next year.
#95
Well i heard coach hatcher already resigned from pcc and also i heard from a pplayer he asked to have a personal meeting with each player and a team meeting so whatever that means idk but i think its a great possibility he will be leaving..
#96
Would not be shocked if Hatcher leaves PCC he's a talent coach and if he has a chance to take a job with a more talented team he will do so. Coaches that have had his kind of success don't like to rebuild, they make runs and move on.

As for coach Noble I don't see him getting to many offers from other teams he hasn't really had that much success at the high school level yet. Lets face it success in high school is judged on Districts and regions and he has failed to win either in 2 weak districts over his 3 year coaching career. I think coach Noble would make a great middle school/JV coach at any place but just ain't sure about on a high school level.

To attend Lexington Catholic or LCA she would have to move and have a change of address the same as if she attended any public school.

Robert Hammonds - didn't really do much at West Jessamine, they just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Very good draw at the state last year.

Are you kidding me? I don't know Hammonds from a lump of coal but to say West Jessamine didn't "do much" last year is ludicrous. West Jessamine won the regional tournament for the 1st time in school history. They were one of only four teams in the state to play on Saturday morning. I agree that the 12th did have one of the easier draws last year (Hazard and Grayson Co). But during the year they also defeated a very good Lexington Catholic team, along with Henry Clay and a good McCreary Central in the regional finals. After all they won 28 games last year.

That is why we need to give him some time.

Yea, he needs more time than one year, and besides all the kids like him real well, and they also like the assistants, these guys will do fine with this team, I challenge anyone to take a team that doesnt have a player that has played the point guard position, or that doesnt have a true point guard, and win very many games, beside the fact that this is a young team, and the seniors we had didnt look like they picked up a ball all summer, not bashing the kids, just their dedication to the game, if you want to be considered one of the top team's you have to work hard , no one is gonna hand it to you !!!

I say keep Noble for ever because this program is definitely gone anyway. When Doug Noble can not win the weakest district in the state he has single handedly destroyed this program for ever. For 2-years he had all the talent now he will have very little talent our program has one way to go that is down down down down. The good thing about all of this Im glad Jade Haddix dont have to play for Noble again.:notworthy
I'd like to know where all this so called talent is in Breathitt County that some of you are mouthing off about. They are a team full of 6'0 and under white boys. Just like Wolfe County has. These other schools play basketball just like big bad Breathitt does and have just as much talent to work with.
We just need a true point guard. Who will be the point guard next year?

I think your starters will be Cory Stewart at center, Brian Roark at the 2 guard, Kendall Ballou at the 3 or 4,Logan Johnson at the 3 or 4 Dewey Baker and Trenton Whitaker, will share the point guard position, Dewey is the only true point we have, UNLESS, we could get a transfer like some of these other teams seem to "conveniently" get !!!!!

But all in all Breathitt did have some good player they should have won more but i think that noble is doing as good job. it just sound like you have a problem with him i guess it was over that jade didnt start like you think he should have. sad if you are a fan then get behind the coach and stop acking like a baby that some one took your toy from you grow up

Weakest district in the state???? Breathitt & Wolfe had like 9 wins and 0 losses vs the 56th district this year.... I'm not saying that the 56th is the weakest because I, for one have not seen every district in action this year. Get real, if you don't like how someone coaches apply for the job yourself and see how much better you can do.
I think if Breathitt County would of had Channing Fugate playing basketball this year, they would of been a lot better. So him leaving the team this year had to hurt. He was their best player. Nobody even took that into consideration. Noble has done a good job.
cougarpride08 Wrote:He switch defense mid season. Will he do that again next year?

Most coaches have more than one defense. I would guess he will play a defense that he thinks is the strength of his team whether it be a matchup zone or man to man.

I am sure we could get a point guard if he conveniently played football.
Powell County's Brian Hall has applied for the Job at Estill County, if he gets the job Estill Counties former coach tiller will offered the job for Powell, i have been told that he is very interested in the job
Fraley isn't going anywhere.
What kind of freshman do we have coming in for Coach Hammonds?

First of all, the very reason for Mr. Tiller’s resignation was to get away from the stresses of basketball. Seeing this is the case, why in the world would he be looking for another job, especially in the same district he just left? Mr. Tiller coaching Powell is just silly.

Secondly, the coaches at Breathitt County High School have little reason to leave. There may be politics pushing them one direction or another, but politics exist at every level and in every job. The two coaches at Breathitt have built a successful basketball program at a football school, and in recent years have contended for regional prominence. It is unlikely they would leave the program that they built, one so close to winning on the regional level. It is even more unlikely that they would leave Breathitt for a school in the same region, with fewer facilities, and that would likely pay less.

Successful basketball program? They've lost two straight districts in one of the weakest districts in the state. They lost to Wolfe at home who was playing a bunch of young kids. I guess some people would say thats successful.

Politics is not pushing them in any direction. The lack of coaching ability to coach and not win the district in 2-years is pushing them out. A person that would get on this site and state that Noble is building the program up has definitely lost there mine.:moon:
Hatcher's gone. the only reason he didn't go to pike last year was cause he belived this was his year to win it all an be at state. But he didn't hatcher will be gone he wont stay were he don't have the kids too win. An with Matt Day going to Hazard he wont take the chances of getting beat agin by them in the district or region agin,Cause the they will run him off for sure. He's a great coach an everything but he's not gonna stay an get beat by Knott an Hazard agin don't you think that's why he's not gonna play Knott, Hazard or Buckhorn next year. Cause he know's one loss an that's it for him . he will be back in WV or as close of a coaching job as he can get there.
