Paducah Tilghman vs. Shelby Valley (1st Rd. Sweet 16)

I said it before but I'll say it again. Not many on here think this will be an easy game for SV. Most have predicted a close game, with several going with Tilghman to win it. Hardly anybody thinks this will be easy.

One thing that could be a huge factor in the game is Paducah Tilghman's free throw shooting. As a team they are only shooting 51% for the season. That's terrible!!! :freezing::omg::Hole::yikes:

Actually I think Shelby Valley will win. If they can go to Jeffersontown and win then that's pretty impressive.

I like their team, very balanced and well disciplined. But they will have to negate the athleticism of the Tornadoes. More than likely they will not turn the ball over as much the Shelby Valley team is used to seeing, and turnovers result in Valley points in most of their games. It could turn into a half court grinder. Plus I'm sure Padacuh Tilghman will keep the pressure D on high velocity themselves. I haven't seen them this year but that is how most Tornado teams have played in the past.

Close game all the way through.. Valley wins by 4.

Shelby Valley goes down in this one. Too much pressure on Justice to win Mr. Basketball.

Excellent athletes don't always equal good basketball players. It's much easier to run with the football than it is to dribble and shoot the basketball. Elisha will not be bothered by athletic teams because most of the time he's the quickest player on the floor and there is not one guard in the state that handles the ball any better. Also the ball will be in his hands most of the time.

Too bad Manual didn't get out of the 7th because you won't get a chance to see their point gaurd Samsel. He is very good with the ball as well. He is going to play next year at Findlay.

From looking at the video of this one game I came away with the thought SV & PT play very much the same kind of ball, full court press entire game, fast break when possible, look for the open man in the half-court. I do not think PT drives to the basket as much as SV, interior passing I would rate even. Field goal percentage is probably pretty even, PT Free T % is 50%, and 3 pt is 32%, I could not find SV's but would think they are higher. Some talk has been made of football players that play basketball on these two teams, I think Tanner Tackett, Cody Varney, and Dillon Tackett are starters on SV's football team and may be missing a couple of players.
Win-loss totals for past 4 years are: PT 102-27 ; SV 112-18
Points scored for and scored against, this year are: PT 2328-1873; SV 2485-1695

Pretty impressive numbers for both teams, a 1 point win by Shelby Valley will make me very happy!

I wish I would have. I would have like to see him play but like I said haven't seen anyone better maybe as good but not better.

SV by 10+.
I think after the regional championship performance, Sv will play lights out at Rupp.

Will be a tough game for both teams, but I am hoping Shelby Valley can get the W!! Good luck

I know that if Valley comes out with the same intensity from the 15th title game then they will have too big of a hill to climb to win the game. They will need to come out at the beginning and force turnovers without getting the silly fouls. I say that they will be prepared and will win by about 6.

Shelby Vallley and Justice take advantage of Paducah's lack of ball handling/true pg and win by around 12

Hope this is true. I know that I have heard that they are lighting quick but do not shoot the three and foul shots very well.

I think a big part of the outcome of this game will be the style of the officiating. If they call touch hand checks the outcome may the same as the Sv-Elliot co game of a few years ago.

It was in the Fields Notes part of the Lexington Herald Leader's today's paper that Elisha Justice needed only 9 points to reach the 2000 point career total. He is the leading point scorer and steals in SV history and has over 500 assists and probably the leader in the race for Mr.Basketball in Kentucky. It would be nice to really score well in the Sweet 16 to reach both of these goals. Go EJ, Go Wildcats!

SV played Christian County at home Jan 22, 2010, and lost by 3.

PT played Christian County away on Dec. 11, four days after five football players join the team (they were very busy elsewhere on Dec. 5) and lost by 2.
