#1
Rockcastle County 15 11 16 17 59

Madisen Webb was named the KFB player of the game.

From Jason Frakes' blog:

* Scott County 62, Rockcastle County 59, final: LOTS of controversial calls in the final minutes seem to have gone against the Lady Rockets. Rockcastle County fans booing during the postgame ceremony. Kristen Stainback had 26 points and Madisen Webb 22 to lead the No. 13 Lady Cardinals (25-7), who will face No. 6 Mercy (26-8) in Saturday's 9 p.m. EST final. Congrats SC

True with the controversial calls by the officiating but overall......A GREAT,GREAT game.......Rockcastle represented real well playing on the final day of the girl's basketball season....despite the loss of 2 really hard-working dedicated seniors, a bright future seems to be ahead.

If that guy's report is correct it sounds Rock got jabbed today.

Would like to know more.

I wasn't at the game so I didn't see what happened, but I did listen to it on the radio, and it did sound like there were some bad calls in the end.

One I specifically rembember was with about 30 seconds left, Scott County threw the ball to high and out-of-bounds, but Rockcastle County was called with a foul. The radio announcers said there was no foul, just a bad pass, but I wasn't there so I didn't see it.

There was also a possibility that the ball went out of bounds off Scott County right before the buzzer but according to the radio announcers time had already expired.

Maybe someone who was there could tell us more.

First of all Scott played a good game and would like to say congrats to them. i was at the game and in the last minute there was three bad calls on rock. first rock was down three win a about 50 secounds to go. rocks press traps a scott player in the corner and ties up the ball. one ref came in and called a jump ball. then scott called a timeout a secound or two after the first call was made and one reff came in and said the time out was before the jump ball. right after that scott throws the ball out of bounds and gave rockcastle the ball. but a very late call came in from the another ref and said there was a foul on alexander who was standing 3 feet away from the person she was supposed to foul. then right right before the buzzer scott knocked the ball out of bounds under rocks goal. the ref blew her whistle and said rocks ball then the buzzer went off. the other two refs run off and the one who said it was rockcastle ball looked at them for a secound and ran off as well. there should have been at least 1 secound on the clock at the end. i cant believe they didnt even talk it over to see if it was the right call. which it was clearly not.

"On the next play, it appeared the Rockets had forced a turnover when Alex McKenzie threw the ball out of bounds, but a late foul was called. Replays, which officials can't consult, appeared to show she was hit in the face on the play." LHL.

It appears the correct call was made on that particular play.

I totally agree with ROCKSOLID69 on this post.....this is exactly what I was picturing as I was listening to the game on WRVK 1460. Good Post!!!!!!!!!!

Those official struggled the whole game. They allowed the game to be played aggressively and then they would call touch fouls.

The newspaper stated that both head coaches were frustrated with the officials the entire game.

True-both Coaches were frustrated after the game because (2) two GREAT teams were
playing one heck of a game and the Refs were in right field somewhere. But what really frustrated me was that the Scott Co.players were booed and called vulgar names as they went of the court-what did these kids do that was so bad for that to happen?Any fan if they are honest has seen the good and the bad cals go both ways/Im sure that agin if honest both sides had calls that went for them but knew better-as the call should have gone against them or no call at all.HEY as Coach Noble said"this is State Tournament time and anything can happen". But to take it out on the teams-NO WAY!!!...There are some Rockcastle and Scott Co.ball players that play on the same AAU teams and there is a Rockcastle player that I myself am very close to her and her parents.I think the world of them-when the Rock beat Scott Co.in Montgomery Co. earlier I congratulated them on a very very good job.Hey Im sorry for rambling on-but I still have to say it was WRONG for the Rockcastle fans to berate and bellitle and curse the Scott Co. basketball team and Coaches-that was classless.

I was not able to be at the game but I'm sure that the fans that insulted the Scott County players were not regular members of the Student Section.

Many times whenever a team is doing well, "cob-web fans" (people that only come out during BIG games, and they seem to come out of the cob-webs back in the corner). I would assume that these were the people being disrespectful.

Rocksolid69 can tell me if I am right. Him and I, are the kind of people that the student section respects and if Rocksolid69 was at the game, I KNOW he would not allow regular members to act this way.

I am sorry for that. I think the players and coaches from G-Town are some of the best in the state, and they represent KY basketball well. I hate that this happened to them. I am sure the profanity was more of frustration than of actual hatred, and I believe the Cardinal players understand that.

And I will share this with them-thank you for this assurance. And I too am sorry for sounding off-I just got a little shell shocked from the display.

Unfortunately, as die-hard fans that have had teams with some success, we have all been there. Sad

This should have not happened, nothing should have been directed toward the players and coaches.

the first boo's was not towards any one from scott county. it was to the reffs. i was right above scotts locker room when scott player's were taunting the rockcastle fans as they went into the locker room, that caused the reaction from the rockcastle fans. never heard any one cuse or called them names, just alot of boo's.

I was at the game and bad calls were made BOTH WAYS. Anyone who has ever played the game knows that bad calls are part of the game. If you don't want bad calls to make a difference in the game then make free throws, hit layups, etc. Both of which were problems in the game. I sat in the middle of the Rockcastle "fans" and they were exceptionally rude, hostile and annoying. I enjoyed the game...two great teams, but I found myself cheering for Scott County because of those irrational fans!

Should have moved to the other side if you didnt like your seats.

I see a bright bright future ahead for the mighty lady rockets though!!!!!!!!

Scott County had two seniors this year (Breonna McKee and Madisen Webb). They also have five 8th graders on their roster.

WOW! Webb is a REALLY tough loss, just like Alexander will be. Rock still has Hammond and Scott County still has Stainback. Unbelievable!

To many neutral spectaters came up to us after the game and told us we really got shafted. I guess its anyone's opinion but when so many from other schools and also people that live in Bowling Green tell you that stuff, something musta been right as far as seeing bad calls. Also, the Refs were from Louisville. It would have been hard for Mercy to handle Big Sara Hammond don't you think?
#26
SHAFTED???????? Come on now..... Yes I will agree that the last seconds of the game
were questionable very much so what with one ref making a call and the other two running of the floor-HECK O PETE I was upset about that myself-it just wasnt right for either team. But since everyone feels that Rockcastle got shafted/please allow me to make a small statement here in that Sara picked up her 4th foul fairly early in the second half and never got called for her 5th even though she rode on Webbs back the entire 4th qtr.. Now this is of course an opinion-which we all have.During the entire season,Im sure there were countlees games that every team felt they got shafted-but after awhile we must open our eyes and either accept this fact or do something about it.WHAT DO WE DO????? VOICE OUTLOUD to the KHSAA that instant replay needs to be instuted into the games and to stop allowing the refs to make whatever calls they want to without having to answer to someone and paying penalties for flagrant inabilities to maintain the proper
playing and rule violations. To continuosly claim foul and being shafted does nothing but dampen the excellent display of our athletes in the game they love so much. The pain they feel over a loss is ENOUGH for them to have to endure-let alone having to listen and read how we as ADULTS jeer and fuss about being shafted or cheated.Whether we are QUARTER FINALIST/SEMI FINALIST/OR STATE RUNNER UP losing is not very easy at all.BUT being in the position to compete is a very honorable accomplishment that all of our
(GIRLS) should be applauded for.NOTHING AND I MEAN NOTHING should stand in the way
of their feeling GREAT about what they have done.REMEMBER not long ago girls basketball was for much nothing more than something to laugh about and scoff at.We as parents and coaches have fought one heck of a fight to get it where it is now and believe me it is at a wonderfull position.Let us not be our own worst enemy but let us be the AIR UNDER THEIR WINGS and allow our FEMALE ATHELETS TO SOAR.
WAY TO GO ALL OF YOU THAT PLAYED THIS YEAR AND GAVE US (the fans and parents)
THE PLEASURE OF WATCHING YOU-"THANKS SO VERY MUCH".
#27
Bluemoon, the pain of the loss the girls from Rockcastle suffered was the way they lost, not the loss itself. When the refs influence the game as bad as they did, thats when the anger comes out and it's hard to be a good sport about losing. I can't blame them a bit for being upset.
#28
I know this is true-and Im not trying to say differently-please read my post on sweet 16 predictions to get my full feelings.Believe me I really do think alot about the Rockcastle Co. girls and coaches-I dont mean to take anything away from them.
