Honeymoon locations
#1
For those who don't know, I'm getting married in November and need some ideas for the honeymoon.

Cruises are out because she gets sea sick.

The only thing she has mentioned to me is possibly going to Gatlinburg and renting a cabin, which I have looked into, but it's not really THAT exciting there.

Not ruling G-burg out, because it's one of the most budget-friendly honeymoon locations, just keeping the options open.

Any suggestions for some cheap honeymoon ideas?

Total honeymoon needs to stay around or under $1500.

haha.. funny you all mention this as well.. I'll be getting Married next year, prolly around June lol.

I told her our honeymoon would be to go watch DUKE and UNC play, just bout got killed..

Think our options are hawaii, Virginia Beach, or Florida

Looks like the cheapest option is a joint 6-way honeymoon for you all Big Grin.

The one big positive with all of this for you all is that November is not peak season, so alot of places to stay will be cheaper. Personally, I would check out http://www.vrbo.com and find either a house or a condo on the South Carolina or Georgia coast. It will still be fairly comfortable weather, it will be cheap, and it wont be overly crowded. VRBO is a great website and the cheapest if you are looking for long term rentals because you take out the middle man of a real estate or rental company.

Personal Suggestions:
Fripp Island, SC
Kiawah Island, SC
Hilton Head Island, SC
St. Simons Island, GA
Jekyll Island, GA
Tybee Island, GA (not as nice as others, but you will be close to Savannah)

Add me to the mix, we are actually thinking about November possibly (April 5 will be our 2-year dating anniversary, got engaged on Valentine's Day)

VRBO.com sounds great.

Go West young Men!

Beach is awesome, but you will be doing that vacation for the REST of your life! While you are young and without hip-huggers, go where you may never get to go again? All can be done within the ranges you are looking at and all are locations that you may decide not to do once the little-ones come.

My personal favorite location is the Grand Canyon. It cannot be described. Go in through Flagstaff. Get accommodations at the Grand Canyon. Nights are in credible, stars, wow, STARS. You have never seen so many stars unless you are that high above cloud level. Incredible.

Denver. Short hop into the Rockie Mountains where you will see wild everything just on the drive. Ram literally walk on sheer walls of rock. Bear, Antelope, Buffalo. There are so many little wild west towns and small Indian casino's. The nightlife is awesome. You can catch professional sporting events if you so choose as well. Everything is very reasonably priced.

Phoenix. Yeah, it's the desert, but the desert is really pretty neat when you got out and tour it. You can visit canyons, Indian villages, and again, the nightlife is awesome.

Los Angeles. So, so, so much to do. You get the ocean, but in a short hop you get the mountains. The Hollywood and Beverly Hills locations are really a sight to behold. Anaheim is right there, so you have Newport Beach with all the money flaunted in front of you as well as Disney and an in credible spectacle the Crystal Cathedral where they telecast the "Hour of Power" with Robert Schueller. Within an hours drive you can go to San Bernardino and visit 1800 era missions. Drive an hour south and you are in San Diego. LA is one of those places you have to go in your life and experience it all, but not with kids.

Don't go do something that you are going to do anyhow for the next 25 years, go do something that you may never get the chance in your life to do with your partner. It will be worth it!

One of my best friends got married last summer and did the West thing and LOVED IT!

Here is what they did:
- Fly from Atlanta to Las Vegas on AirTran CHEAP
- Rent a Mustang Convertible for the week
- Stayed two days at casino CHEAP
- On first day went to a his/hers spa for the day
- Drove from Vegas to the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam on 3rd Day, took a burro ride to the base of the canyon.
- Spent 4th Day in Flagstaff and Sedona
- Drove to the Painted Dessert Day 5
- Flew back from Salt Lake City to Atlanta

I've never went west, but that sounds great. If money was an issue, I would go to Gatlinburg and get a cabin. Patriot Getaways is a great rental company. Good luck to you all.

That is an awesome trip. I was going to add Vegas, but Vegas winds up being one of those trips that can be done later on as well. It's a GREAT trip.

We've been to The Grand Canyon with her parents, it was amazing. Believe we went to Hoover Dam, Las Vega( Couldn't get in nowhere cause we was 16 lol)

But I do have to agree with you all.. if you havn't been to the Grand Canyon, you really need to go... Just dont drive like we did or you'll have mixed feelings of it all lol..

Alaska is pretty cool, literally. I didn't cruise there, but the scenary is lovely. Ill have to get my atlas out, but where exactly is Seward? Is it close to Denali? Because you absolutely MUST go to Denali National Park. Its beautiful!

and what day in June, Alfus?
