Knott County Central Football
#1
Let's dispell all the rumors flying about the Football Head Coaching opening at KCC. The process is ongoing, noone has been named , no application has been tossed. KCC recieved over 30 applicants for this job, and each is being looked at very carefully, checking references, background checks, etc. KCC is not going to rush this hiring, it is too important for the kids involved. I will keep everyone updated on the timetable for the hiring process.

Why was the other thread closed?

Jay Cobb is still looking and there is not many jobs left open. Maybe?? Its a long shot but he did enjoy his time here at Knott Central with competitive football teams year in and year out. If hes interested then there is no other choice to look at, but if not then I think they need to go with a young coach like Perry did.

Well, I am not young but I still believe that God has a plan for me and it may not be for this year. I think Perry got a good young man for their job and wish him the best. However, you don't have to be young to be enthusiastic, passionate, and have a bountiful love for the game and to teach it. I knew it would be hard for me where I have been out of coaching but still hope someone will take into consideration I was serving my country. Plus, I want to go somewhere and stay. I am not one for moving around. It takes years to build the programs that you see at Breathitt and Bell and it has been under one coach, very important in my opinion. Just my thoughts.

Why do they even have a football team? They win five games every decade.

Thats at least 5 exciting games for some of those players. Why do you have to be so negative to these young players. Keep working hard KCC.

Any ideas as to who the finalists are or who has been interviewed? Surely someone has heard something, eh?

I just read there were 30 applicants. Sounds to me like they have other choices.

They want Cobb, but he has a list of demands, too many to mention, before he will even start to come back to Knott county. If they can handle some of the changes he has asked for, then they will have a great coach back in charge and if not, they can keep looking through their list of applicants, but his is definitely on the top as of right now. He also has a couple assistants in line for jobs as well.

There are 5 finalist. I do not know who they have spoken with and I was one of the five but more than likely I will be taking my name out. Either way it goes, I wish them the best of luck and for the kids I hope the community really gets behind the new coach. I've said and truly believe that KCC could be very competetive in the District and Region. The thing is winning is habit forming but unfortunately so is losing and if you do not get kids to believe then their expectation will be to except losing and that my friends should not be the case. Do the right things for the right reasons, work hard and be a person of character and winning will come eventually.

Sorry to hear that Mt. Warrior...was there a particular reason you decided to withdraw? I hope you find the right fit for what you want to do.
#17
Actually, I have not yet. I am leaning that way because it has been a long process and I have not even been over there. I am probably going to wait until the first of next week and see what happens. But, if they want Jay Cobb, there is not much I can do but move on. Cobb has been there before with some success. He is a good man. I'll get my chance, it may take until next year and I may just end up helping somewhere. For me, I just have to trust in God, it will all work out in the end.
#18
Best of luck wherever you end up.
#19
I hope they hire someone soon with spring ball approaching
#20
At least they have another week (at least) with the KCC basketball team playing in the regional.
#21
This one died down for awhile...did I miss the hiring? If so, who got the job?
#22
What's the latest. Have they put it on hold due to Basketball or what.
#23
Most likely I say they will wait until the basketball season is over with. A shame to because who is going to run there spring practice?

If I were you Mountain Warrior and wanted this job, I would get over there and let them know you want the job. I doubt if Jay Cobb will ever show up. It sounds to me like you are the man for the job.

I am still very interested but I have not heard anything from them for a couple of weeks so I really do not know what the status is on the job. But, Mr. Trent does know that I am interested and would like the job. Obviously, I would want to talk with them and make sure they want to support the program.
#26
What kinda outfit they running there?
#27
i heard they getting ready to sign jay cobb
#28
That would be big and a great hire if they can pull it off. Best of luck on getting an excellent coach.
#29
Have to believe they have something in the works...even best case scenario, the basketball team will be done next week. I'm sure the new coach would like to get settled in before spring practice.
#30
What are they going to do for spring practice? Who is going to handle everything?
