NBA Dunk Contest: Either get the stars to do it, or stop it
#1
This years contest was an embarrassment. Nobody cares about a bunch of benchwarmers that can't do any good dunks and have no excitement. I think that if they can't get the stars or at least popular players to do it, they need to just stop the whole thing because it is getting very boring and stupid. Agree?

I honestly don't know what more these guys can come up with. Everything imaginable has been done before and no one will become a better dunker than Vince Carter. Maybe if Lebron did enter the contest he could add his own signature dunk, but I just don't think that there is anything else to come up with.

I recall last year him saying he was going to be in it. Wonder why he changed his mind?

I agree with BCA. The dunk contest is pretty much dead. Only way to bring it back to life is somehow get the elite players involved.

Didn't LeBron promise LAST year to be in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest?
I'm tired of hearing about money, money, money, money, money. I just want to play the game, drink Pepsi, wear Reebok -Shaquille O'Neal

the truth man unless you have Lebron, Kobe, Howard, its just not the same

I agree the Dunk contest was a joke this year. Nothing creative and nothing amazed me. They need to do something to it, if they let fans vote the winner, they should let fans vote on who is in it.

Maybe they could just skip the contest in the future and show past highlights on the jumbotrons of Jordan, Carter, and the rest of the legends.

Yes, he backed out when Kobe and anyone worth anything said they weren't in it.

Truly the worst dunk contest I have ever seen in my life. I wish players like Lebron, Dwight Howard and Vince would enter the contest, they all have creative minds and would put on a show. I remember the days when Kobe was in it in 97, Brent Barry even dunking it from the free throw line, Jordan vs. Wilkins in the late 80s, Spud Webb defying all odds at 5'7 and winning it, and my all time favorite in Oakland in 2000 with Vince Carter, Tmac and Steve Francis. I've always been a HUGE fan of the dunk contest, and if they don't do something to change it, I will never watch it.

Time to end it for a couple of years, let the fans clamor for it

I just think the fans should vote on the participants next year, along with the 3 point contest.. and the players should get a cash bonus for doing it so that way they actually will. Because the only ppl who are volunteering the last few years are sucky players. They need to do something or nobody will watch it or attend. All Star Saturday night used to be the best night of the NBA year.

He's afraid he will get beat. His ego couldn't take that.
