Perry Co. Central @ Hazard 2/26 (54th District Championship)
#31
Erroneous report of 2200 people being allowed in Memorial Gym. Memorial Gym. Memorial gym seats approximately 4000 people base on an article about its construction. However I don't think 4000 will hold the people wanting to see this one. Parking is a different story!!!!
Good luck to both teams. According to KHSAA scoreboard PCC has won 8 out of the last 11 district titles.
This region is definitely a "pick em" to use a Vegas term.

When's the last time Perry or Hazard didn't win the 54th?

KHSAA listing has Hazard at 3500 cap.

When Buckhorn beat them in the first round.
Andy Blank was lights out that game....
and Buckhorn center Matt Day took it to Perry Central's Jason Kelly

The Fire Marshall can set the cap at whatever they want though, can't they?

According to the radio today the gates will not open until 6:00. Plus they will not be selling advanced tickets. Better get there early to get in line.

Won't get to see this one but it should be a dandy, like I've said before I think PCC is the best team in the 14th, but you can throw the regular season records and their previous play this year out the door in this one. I will say PCC has the most talent but with this one being played at Hazard I think it will be a very close game, I'll say PCC by 4 but wouldn't at all be surprised to see Hazard come out on top in this one.

I have no dog in this race and every one has an opinion but I can't and don't agree with you on this one as of now I think Fugate is the better of the two.

Hazard still won district that year. I guess what I'm asking is when is the last time Buckorn or Leslie Co won the 54th.

That is a good opinion it could be a toss up, I watch Fugate last night seems he is no offenese but I think that is where Dillion is better seems he can score at will down low. But still they both will get in foul trouble in the first quarter anyway. JMO:igiveup:

Should be a very intense and exciting game. I'm gonna take PCC by 2.

There will be a winner and a runner-up and both teams will move on to the regional. We all need to remain civil during this game. Support your team but remember that both teams will be advancing. Good luck to both teams.

My bad....
I read the post wrong.
I thought it was just when the last time Perry didn't win.

I do believe they can.

Perry wins in a nail bitter.

you can't really blame Kelly in that matchup. Day is the taller, faster, better player. so no one should have expected Kelly to do a great job on him. Day doesn't dominate big people a whole lot but you had to like him in that matchup. However you can always expect Blank to light things up. So i'd say that was where you could blame Perry.

anyway, look for this same type of thing to happen against Hazard. Fugate is the stronger, Faster, Better player. so don't be upset if Cornett doesn't see alot of time in this one, and i say that will be why the Dores go home a loser.

Cornett and Fugate are both very talented. I'm not sure who's better to be honest. They both tend to get in foul trouble easy. Hopefully that don't happen and we get to see the two big guys bang for 4 quarters.

IMO, PCC is a 15 point better team than Hazard on a neutral floor. This being played at Hazard will make them a 6 point better team. PCC slows down the tempo and the big man shut Fugate down. Good Luck to both teams and good luck at Breathitt!

Matt did not play for Buckhorn then. He was still in grade school. Jake Rice was the inside player for Buckhorn and he and Andy had big games that night.

I hate to say it but I agree; He completely let himself go his senior year weight wise.

I love Cornett and his game but the last couple of games he's not played very well and Salyers has got most of the mins. Perry hasn't lost a beat and as of this time Salyers is playing better ball and if Dillion isn't playing well Hatcher want go with him long and I believe Salyers will out play because he is so much quicker and watch and see if he doesn't get Fugate in foul trouble and PCC still wins in Double digits.
