Wow!!! Very impressive. I really did not expect the win for the road trip to be at J-town. Sounds like they really responded well to the upset last night. Perry showed the rest of the state that mountain basketball's elite teams can compete and win around state. This really makes EKY look good. Congrats Valley cats!!! Big win heading into the district!!!

I figured Shelby Valley would win this one because they'd be mad after the loss last night, but I didn't expect them to blowout Jtown at home. This should be a nice confidence booster heading into the post season, and call me crazy.......but this might be considered a "quality" win that shows that Shelby Valley can hang with teams from around the state.

Congrats Valley!! This was a big bounce back from the loss to Perry! Proved all the people thinking you would lose wrong! Congrats!

Looks like the loss to Perry Central had a positive affect on Valley and that loss will help them in the long run. By looking at the update thread Valley was up double digits most the game. Sometimes on Senior night teams come out nervous. I know Perry did last night and it looks like Jtown did tonight also. Difference is Perry recovered from a bad start and Jtown didn't. Really suprised they dominate a team of this caliber @ there place though. If anything from a Perry Central perspective this reflects good on us. I wonder what the rest of the state thinks about this win. IMO Valley definitely solidifies themselves as a top 5-6 team. Before this game I would not have said that.
Grats Valley, h*** of a win!

That's what I was thinking. He was the best player on the floor last night and lit Perry Central up. Scary to think Valley beat Jtown this bad with him being sick. Hopefully he gets better soon.

Congrats Wildcats! Look out post season here comes Shelby Valley! The Wildcat Train should roll on through the post season deep into the Sweet 16!

This was J-town's biggest defeat of the season. Good rebound game for SV.

Well, if this performance is average, there must be the best point guards in the country in these regions. Congratulations Shelby Valley on the win and proving to all the nay sayers that you can play with teams from down state---and then some.
One good game against a Jtown team that has been imploding in the past few weeks is nice but just too little, too late. And if SV is that good, what happened last night against PCC? The reality is, a team like Trinity winning 23 in a row(with at least 6 wins against top ten teams(which Jtown currently isn't)) far outshines SV winnning this one game.
Certainly a nice performance tonight for EJ, but he still has a ways to go to even be mentioned in the same breath as Josh Sewell for Mr. Basketball! He simply hasn't played against enough good teams to warrant consideration.
This doesn't mean he's not a good player, he's just not at the level of Sewell, Chad Jackson, orr Rico Johnson IMO!

Here come the excuses.

No need for excuses. I have seen the results of the Perry County Central game from just last night.
Nice win tonight but the resume is VERY deficient of quality wins.
Best of luck but the talk of Justice as Mr. Basketball is really unfair to the other kids like Sewell who have done so much against MUCH better competition on a routine basis.
Mr. Basketball should be based on the year, not a game or two and as I have stated here before, Justice hasn't played against the teams and is 1-2 in games against decent KY teams to date(PCC, Christian Co, Jtown) and doesn't deserve the award!
It's his coaches fault for the lack of quality competition, not his, as the kid is obviously a quality player.

Oh I didn't mean it was an excuse for Elisha not getting Mr. Basketball cause I don't think he deserves it either. I was saying it looked to be an excuse as to why SV got this good win.

Mr. Basketball should be based on their career not a year! I dont't think Sewell has the resume that Justice has!

Not meant that way!
SV has a nice team and, realistically IMO, has a pretty good chance of making the state semis so I wish them luck.

You can try to diminish the quality of this win all you want, but the reality is that Shelby Valley went on the road against a Top 10-15 team in the state, and won CONVINCINGLY on their home floor. If you look at the game flow, SV jumped on Jeffersontown early and never let them get back in it.
I don't care if they had lost some other games recently, J-town owns wins this season over Eastern, Seneca, and Manual, and only lost at Ballard by 2. J-town may not be on the same level as Trinity, but this was still a VERY impressive win for Valley.
Good luck to both teams in the post-season.

What a way for Valley to bounce back after a poor performance last night against PCC. Looks like EJ showed up to play tonight. Valley is always a contender with whoever they play but if they are all 5 ever on at the same night they might just surprise some people at the big show. Congrats Valley!

Great post. It really boggles the mind to think that they came up that flat against PCC on Friday and the next night with 22hrs rest, beat one of the best teams in the state...... Really shows a lot of depth and experience with this team. Can't wait to see how the games in region and state play out after a refocusing and a smack in the head on Friday.

Congrats to Valley on the win. I definetly didn't expect them to win by this margin, so I'll gladly eat crow.
Didn't get to listen to quarters 2-4 because the "Mrs" came over but from the looks of it, Valley simply had a better TEAM than J'town. Proof is in the numbers. Outside of Smith (?) with 10 for J'town, nobody else had over 8 points.
For those trying to make this look like a one man show and say that EJ single handedly beat J'town and Jackson did nothing for his team, you need to take off your blue blinders. EJ had one heck of a game with 31 points, but Jackson also poured in 19 himself.
For J'town, the struggles continue. 5-6 in their last 11 games and also lost to SOUTH OLDHAM during that stretch without their all state forward, Tim Jackson.
Good luck to Valley the rest of the season...a quality win like this could go a long way.

You're right....Sewell has a better resume. He's only been named MVP to the THREE BIGGEST tournaments in Kentucky. I believe his TEAM is also sitting pretty at 25-2 right now while playing one of the toughest schedules in the state.
EJ is no doubt one heck of a player, but Sewell has performed just as well against BETTER competition. Josh Sewell will wear the #1 jersey in the KY-IN All Star game. Quote me on that if you want.
