Done.
#4
Vote as many times as you wish...let's see who wins out!
#5
Like to add Gerald Osborne..... Played along side Todd May at Virgie........
#6
I might be biased, but I think Shawn Newsome from Allen Central needs to be on there. He was one of the best players to ever come from AC.
#7
Alot of tigers on that list. Hopefully we will return to the glory day soon enough.

he grad. after 2000.
#9
So who ya guys voting for?
#10
hef conley played under coach mccoy at elkhorn city was a rlly good player
#11
I personally think that Randy Anderson from Dorton should be on this list. He was all state his junior and senior year. Just ask around and anyone will tell you how tough he was to play against.
#12
Johnson Central--- The two best players in JC history are not even on the list. Bart Williams? Yeah right, give me a break!! How about Howard Wallen and Harry Meek. Howard may be one of the top 5 players to ever come out of this region, period. Harry was asked to play at Louisville by Denny Crum back in the Louisville glory years. Then you can throw in Paul Bradley LeMasters. How about Mike Castle? Bart Williams never even developed as a basketball player until he was out of high school. That's why he ended up at Pikeville.

Sheldon Clark.----Joe Stepp didn't even play at Sheldon Clark. He graduated from Warfield in 1972.

Meade Memorial---The storied program of Meade Memeorial and you can only come up with Donnis Butcher? Where's Alvin Ratliff? Where's Steve Butcher? Where's Phillip Howard? Just to name a few.

Paintsville-- Bill Mike Runyon? Did anybody on here ever see Bill Mike play? Bill Mike was just a very average player. There is no way he should even be on this list. You put Bill Mike on there, but yet not put John Pelphrey's brother Jerry on there. Ridiculous. Boy, the BMR spin department just never dies. Look on the wall of the gym in Paintsville's gym. He's not even on their list as a player. Perhaps his campaign manager GOP Nate is a part of this selection committee? lol...Where's Bryan Lyon?

Oil Springs---Where is UK player Richard Conley?

Prestonsburg.----Kip McNally? Where is this coming from? I'll forever bust a gut laughing over this one. He was maybe the 3rd best player on his team in '75, and for sure the biggest sissy that ever walked on the floor. Rob Herrick was a much better player than McNally. How about Ortiz? Heck even Jeff Burchett was a better player than McNally . Who comes up with this stuff?

Salyersville--- What no Lincoln Collinsworth? That Chris Collinsworth's dad for those who dont know. He just played for Adolph Rupp, yet he cant even crack the list. What a joke!!!! What about Terry Howard?

^ Just let all out.

Oh trust me, I held back.

McDowell's 2 best players were Glen Turner and Tommy Martin and they are not on this list.
#16
And while I'm still on it.

From Pikeville, Coon Stratton? Yeah he was a long range bomber, but that was it. He was one of those players that just stood around from 30 feet out and waited for somebody to throw him the ball, so he could shoot it. And that's it. He did absolutely nothing else. By the time he was a senior he was too fat too even walk up and down the floor. Again, who came up with this stuff.

I think great players are players who will put the team on their backs and carry them the distance........great players make teams great, not just put up numbers for themselves. There are a lot of good players, that go on and play D-1........and get better, but were they really great HS players or good players that just got a break or got better in College?

It would be interesting to hear what other think makes a GREAT PLAYER. My thoughts, a GREAT PLAYER is a guy that the whole team looks up to as a player, as a leader and as a person. A great player wants the ball at the end of the game, not for the glory, but for the team victory. A good player wants the ball in hopes of gaining the glory no matter if the team wins or not. A Great player never blames a teammate for a lose, but always compliments them on a win. A Great HIGH SCHOOL player is a player that wins not only on the court but in the classroom and in the community.

A guy can average 40 points a game taking 50 shots a night, but that doesn't make him great.

The Virgie list.........wow.

Barry Johns and Joey Osborne are you kidding me. :lmao:

Todd May should be 2nd on the final list behind the King IMO.
#19
Why isn't Greg Newsome on this list from Virgie? He was awesome!
#20
Wow!!! All i can say...

To respond to some posters concerns (MR KIMBALL) of names that haven't been mentioned, if you read the first post of this thread it clearly says..."If you want to nominate someone as an honorable mention, post them here in this thread or leave us a note on www.wdhr.com" We want your imput because the list we have provided is only a skeleton of names to be presented. We want your imput with this honorable mention list. If we had listed every single person deserving (or not) in the first place - then why solicit your help?

This is YOUR poll and we want YOUR imput. The criticism is optional. Just another example of how posters on this site don't take the time to "read" what's posted.

Belfry needs Steven Staton and Randy Hensley (played at Georgia) as well as Shawn Hager, and Gary Smith on the list.

Pikeville needs Doug Powers on the list.
#23
What about mark martin?(allen central)
#24
The players were on the list
#25
Would like to add Ralph Good of Feds Creek. In high school teams always double teamed him yet he still average 30+ a game. At Pikeville College was twice KIAC player of the year.

Jamey, how did the list of players to be voted on get on the list?
What was the criteria to get on the list.? There has already been a list of the 50 best players in the 15th region picked a few years ago.

Thank you

I agree with Tommy Martin as one of the best but the other player would be Stan Roberts in my opinion.

I did read what it said.

It said if you wanted to nominate someone as an "honorable mention". When you phrased it that way it sounded like this was the total and complete list and you would like other names to be included that would be "the almosts". Kinda like an All State team with with another seperate group that would be considered as the honorable mention group. Evidently I took your phrasing in a context in which you did not intend. For that I apologize. You do have to admit that with that wording it would be easy to be interpreted in that manner. Again I apologize for speaking out of line.

Mr Kimball, maybe you ought to take a few shots of that chocolate milk you drank on New Years Eve to help calm you down.
