Just by reading the updates it sounded like a very entertaining game. CC is very lucky that a bad play didn't send this one into overtime. An over the back call with under 5 seconds to go sent Elijah Justice to the line where he converted the first and missed the second, that would have tied the game at 67. CC was lucky enough to get the rebound with 1.9 left and hit 2 ft's to seal the deal.

I'm suprised Justice missed the foul shot to tie it.
Great game to listen to though, would have rather been there.
Congrats CC.

Yep, it was a very dumb foul, and to foul SV's best player too.

Nice win for CC and even more impressive it was at Shelby Valley.

Well that just shows that Shelby Valley is a top tier team in the state. CC is very talented, extremely athletic and well coached. They also had alot of sportsmanship. That was one of the best games I've seen in a while.
Keep your head up Elisha you played great.

Congratulations to Christian County. I don't know if Justice and Hatfield being less than 100% had anything to do with the outcome of the game but being outshot 8 to 1 on 3 pointers certainly did. I came away from the game with the opinion SV can play with anyone in the state, if they only lose to CC by 3 after shooting that badly, and I don't think the defense had anything to do with missing open shots. The pressure is off with keeping the streak alive, now get ready to win another All 'A' title and get back to the Sweet 16 and go farther in the state tournament. Christian County & PCC should have another good game tomorrow night. Congrats CC, GO SV, GO WILDCATS!!

IMO if you look at Shelby Valley's schedule of games against KY teams other than Knott and maybe Clay Co. it is not really that strong. Yes CC is a good team but hey they lost to Mason and East Carter on a neutral floor and to go to Shelby Valley's home floor wher they had won 50+ games in a row maybe they are not what they were last year.

I hope that PCC can beat them so they dont leave the mountains undefeted.

I would be surprised to see PCC within 10 at the end of this one. CC may be the best team that I have watched in SV's gym since Lex Cath came here. Now with that said, SV didn't play as good as they have in previous games and IMO proved they are one of the top teams in the state. This game could have went either way, I think largest lead was 5 points by either team. Congrats CC, you have a really good team and even though we lost, I am proud of the effort that SV showed tonight.

When CC lost those games they had some players out with injury. Since then they beat Scott Co. at Scott and took Holmes to OT at Holmes. Trust me this is a very very good team.

CC started the game up 7-0.

I wasn't meaning to be smart, just pointing that out. And I think SV's largest lead was 4. It was a close game thoughout.

Keep your heads up Valley this was a good team .

Is Shelby Valley really that good to play within 3 of Christian County? Christian County beat Scott County and took Holmes to Overtime before they lost.

Yes, SV is really that good, no one outside of here believes it but they are, CC stands a very good chance of winning the sweet sixteen.

Im not going to get into whether this proves whether SV is top tier team or not because I think the players believe they are. A few thoughts from the game.
CC
1. very fast from end to end caught SV a little off gaurd at first.
2. Great coach...the foul at the end to keep Justice from trying to tie it with a 3 was a very heads up call.
3. This team is very competitive and game for anything. Valleys house was rocking and CC never blinked.
4. CC was everything I thought but one thing I did not expect was how well they shot the 3. I dont know what their % was but had to be very high. # 3 for CC not sure about the name but he lit it up and literally could not miss. SV continued to give him open looks by gambling to much out of their 2-3 zone. I will say it again this kid was on fire.
SV
1. FREE THROWS FREE THROWS FREE THROWS
2. Justice played a solid game I think he had one turnover and Im sure Dorton Wildcat will give us the final numbers. He got to the rim anytime he wanted and was maybe to passive at times tonight.
3. OUTCOACHED and that is all I will say about that.
4. The 3 ball wasnt going down but that happens.
5. The game slipped away with about 1:40 to go every poor free throw shooter CC had dribbled around and killed about 40 seconds so we could eventually foul their best player at least on this night.
All in all great game and very fun to watch. My hats go off to CC as they won the game and deserved it. My heart goes out to Justice as he will replay that free throw until he gets his feet wet at the ALL A.

After watching, both looked fine to me. Myself, I thought Christian County's defensive pressure contributed a lot to the bad shooting. Valley did get some open looks, but it took a lot of passes to get them. I thought Valley gave up too many open 3 pointers, especially to Lewis. Hickey is quick as lightning and fun to watch.

I disagree. Christian County looked very good to me and to me they have to be for real with the way they have played lately.

Congrats to CC with the win in a very good game, IMO this one could have went either way. I will say I was very impressed with the shooting of #3 (Lewis) I believe which IMO was the difference in the game. Well this was a good game for SV(what they needed) and I think it should show that they can compete with most teams in the state.

That is not even a close comparison. Wilson is a solid player, but not E. Justice good...

I haven't kept stats for SV this season, so I don't have all the stats. I thought Elisha had 2 turnovers, but one I wasn't sure if it was credited to him or not.
For SV:
Elisha had 18 points
Ashley had 15 points
Tyler had 8 points
Ramey had 5 points
Varney had 4 points
I didn't hear Taylor's total on the radio, but if the others were right I guess he had 16.
For CC:
Lewis led with 20+ points
Hickey had 16 points
Not sure of the rest of their scoring. Seemed like Kates had 7 points.
Obviously the missed foul shot was the difference, but I thought the turnover on the inbounds that gave CC a layup at the end of the 3rd was huge. I thought CC came up with several loose balls that could have been SVs, and the lack of blocking out at times gave CC some easy points. I thought SV let them run too much time off the clock (from 1:40 or so down to 1:00). As expected, CC's press had little or no effect on Valley. They are almost impossible to press unless you can take the ball out of Elisha's hands.
I know this was a loss, but I thought it was a great game for SV. It can only make them better to get to play against a team like CC before the tournament.
Also, congrats to Taylor and Ashley on their 500th rebounds.
