Best Players To Watch 2011 Class
#1
Who are the best players to watch in the 2011 class?
IMO Demarcus Smith from Seneca will have an amazing season after sitting out last season. Also Erico Smith from Spencer Co. comes from a small school but has big time speed accounting for almost 1500 yards last season.
#2
Travis Elliott! Ryle High School Union, KY
#3
Lamar Dawson, LB for Boyle County. Made MaxPreps Junior All-American team and was All-State this year.
#4
jordan elliott mlb south laurel

This is the best class of talent that I have ever saw in KY.

LB Lamar Dawson-Boyle Co. - Is the best player in the state next year, he could easily been a top 3 LB this season. I hope that UK lands this kid bad.

CB Leon Melvin-Western- 3 year member of the ALL STATE team. so far, and recorded ten INTs. this season. From what I hear Charlie Strong has already come to visit.

QB DeMarcus Smith- Seneca- Threw for over 3000 yards as a soph. Is already commited to U of L, but had offers from tons of major college programs. Smith is also listed as 4* recruit. In reference to this season when Kentucky didnt have a single 4* player

DE- Jon Davis- Eastern- A freak athlete, a Kentucky version of Javon Kerse. He has a ton of upside, and already commited to the cats. IMHO Davis will end up as 4* as well

RB- Darrell Cross- Rowan Co.- A RB with insane burners, Cross can outrun anyone around. Returned 7 Kickoffs for TD last season, and run a 4.4 40 yard dash at the Scout combine last season.

These players are not in a particular order, but anyone of these guys could win MR. Football, or it could be someone else. They're are tons of more great players, but these are the guys that I believe will play major football at the next level.

TE/DB Josh Forrest from Paducah Tilghman, 6-4, 190 lbs had three picks in the championship game. Considering he had not played the previous two years to concentrate on basketball, he finished strong. Hearing from a lot of schools for basketball and football.
#7
Corey Lyle will get the bulk of the carries in a run-oriented offense at Greenup Co.this year. He could put up huge #'s.
#8
Outside of those mentioned:

Jarelle Moore - Fern Creek (UL Commit - FAST!)
DeVante Parker - Ballard (UL Commit)
Taylor Nowell - Bowling Green
Zach West - Lexington Christian
Darrian Miller - Bryan Station (UK Commit)

Does anyone know what the national record is for extra points kicking in a high school career? Jack Coorts from Lone Oak broke the state record midway through the playoffs, and it would be even more entertaining to watch his field performance if I knew that a potential national record was plausible.

Also, just from reading up on stats, Cory Davenport (the one which rushed for over 1700 yards, I believe), from Bell County looks pretty impressive to me. I expect him to make a big impression this year. Let it be known that he at least scares this 4A fan. Smile

Shelby Caudill - Grant County Played Varsity as a Frosh. Played FS, WR and Punt Returner. He led the team in INT's and second leading tackler.

I Know that Leon was first team all state this season. He was also 1st team all state last season by a couple of media outlets. I could be wrong, but I thought he was HM his freshman season.

Actually, he was 2nd team All State Courier Journal 2009 and Honorable Mention AP 2009. Great accomplishment for a junior and will be watching for big things from him in 2010.

I found this online

Pretty good video, starts off kinda slow though. Some great competition though, Westerns opponets in a lot of the highlights are 6A Male, Butler and Ballard, along with 4A Fairdale, Valley and 2A DeSales.

From Bell Co.

As already said JD Hilton FB/LB. As fundmental of a football player you will ever see. With suprising athletic ability. Always in the right place at the right time.

Ben Madon 6'4" QB with a good arm and good speed. Ben will open a lot of eyes. May also be the most talented Round baller to come out of Bell in a number of years.

Justin Patterson 6'4" TE/DL Big with good speed and getting stronger. Could be a bigtime DL.

Dominic Carton HB/DL/LB Can do it all. Good speed and quickness, with tremendous (D-1) closing speed.

Ben Axline is 6'3" 180 and a top 10 WR in 6A this past season. I would consider that a top receiver even with out the circus catch. Did yo really watch the video? The ball first gets tipped at the line of scrimmage then he makes the great catch!! Not to many receivers at any level are going to make that catch. Then score on top of it!

Great WR! Will probably hear alot from this young man as a senior.
#27
if u woudlve payed closer attention to axlines catch the defender tipped the ball so he made an outstanding grab plus sheddin takles and scoring.
#28
Jesse Rose of LCC.
#29
Channing Smith OT/DE Pike County Central was the best lineman in the mountains as a junior and one of the best in the state. The 6'4 265 pounder will definately be one to watch during the upcoming year.
#30
Jordan Calton 6'4, 220 lb. 12th grade-to-be DE from Harlan County. Most people probably remember him as big #87. Kid has got it all. Size, strength, speed, knowledge, and very physical.
