Ouch, tough to travel to WVA and lose by one point. PCC you have proved you are one of EKY's better teams.

One of the toughest teams PCC has played all year. PCC played a great game.

I would have liked to see the Commodores come out on top this game but they feel short but I dont agree with you by saying they have proved to be one of the best in EKY. I know that most regions are down this year with 14th being the best in EKY and I agree that PCC is one of the best in that region but to say they have proved it, can you tell me how? They have only beating 3 teams with a winning record and two of the wins was against a 8-7 Buckhorn team and other team was an 8-7 Bell County team that is prolly a 7 or 8th best team in the 13th. Im not trying to take anything away from PC but would like to hear what they have proved this year?

Who has KCC beat? everyone has said they have proved to be one of the best.
01-19-2010, 01:43 AM
Well I never bought Kc into this one, but we all know who the best is and thats Valley so I never said KC was the best but since you ask who has KC beat this year well they have defeated the defending 14th region champs Hazard twice, the best team in the 12th region McCreary Central,Knox Central I know not one the best in the 13th this year but when Miller is getting help they could knock off anyone on any night. They have beating 6 teams with a winning record, that double perrys but Im not trying to compare KCC and PCC. I was just wanting to know a simple question. What has Perry proved?

Perry has proven they can play with the good teams, but they haven't beaten them. All 5 loses are all by 5 points or less. While it's just one game, Knott was beaten by 52 points. Great teams don't get beat by that much no matter what. 20 points maybe, by 52? Cmon.
I think Knott is a hair better then Perry and Hazard at the moment, but there all on the same level. Imo Perry and Hazard have both went through early season slumps and the best is yet to come from both teams.

Perry Central has lost 5 games by a total of 15 points. I don't know a whole lot about WV basketball, but South Charleston is the #1 AAA team in WV. They also lost by 4 to a very good Highlands team (BGR current #12) While the toughest part of Knott's schedule is over (including the 52 point annihilation), Perry's toughest is still to come with Christian Co, Shelby Valley and Knott twice, so they still have the opportunity to prove themselves. I'll give a slight edge to Knott at this point, but there is by no means a big gap between Knott and Perry or even Hazard. If you think there is, you're probably in for a surprise.

Breathitt beat Hazard too, and Perry beat Breathitt by 19.
Even though Hazard is getting better as the season progresses, beating them is not really a good measuring stick. They only beat them by 7 last time and I wouldn't be shocked at all if Hazard beats them when they play again.
Again, my point is that Knott is not that far ahead in the 14th region, and when it's all said and done, they might not be ahead at all.

Good post, I agree PCC has a chance with those games coming up that they could prove they are one of the best but I dont think they have proved anything yet. Big game against Chirstian Co this weekend at home so they could prove it with a win this weeekend. If your gonna mention Highlands as a tough lost for PCC than Im going to say KCC only lost to Shelby Valley by 3(current at #6 on the BGR poll.)IMO Valley is better than Highlands. As for the gap between the teams I have never said that KC was head and shoulders above PC now with Cornett playing for PC it could give KC fits but if the game turns into a run and gun advanatge goes back to Knott.

i agree this weekend could possibly be PCC's hardest matchup of the year KCC can not even come close to the talent of Christian co. but if PCC can break through the pressure then they will be just fine and they also have to slow the game down so there bigs can effective...even tho knott only got baet by shelby valley b three seneca destroyed them before that by 52 and senca is way better then Valley

I see what your saying, But some don't..Ill just say beating Hazard isn't saying much IMO.

Valley is ranked higher than Seneca in the polls, and Valley just beat Knott by 3. So that shows you one fluke game means nothing. Knott also beat a pretty good Fairdale team. Perry is still improving with the toughest part of their schedule coming up. Those two games between Knott and Perry will be exciting games to watch and will determine the top team in the region.

Hazard is up and coming and IMO they will beat breathitt by double diget the next time they play. As for PCC when Cornett and Salyers gets going the way they did against Breathitt with the rest of the team then no one in the 14th can play within double digets of them. When they can get 15pts and 15rbs from the center position they are just about unbeatable. By Feb. each player will learn their position and I fill sorry for the rest of the region. Take that to the bank.

You can't determine how good or bad a team is by one bad loss or one good win. Knott Central lost by 52 points to Seneca. Knott Central beat McCreary Central. McCreary Central beat Seneca. What is the logic in that? There is no way that Knott Central would lose to Seneca again by 52 points. For example, in the 1970"s Indiania University (ranked NO. 1 in the country) destroyed Kentucky in the regular season beating them by nearly 30 points. Later that year KY beat Indiania in the N.C.A.A. Tourney.

South Charleston was only ranked 8 in WV AAA. Don't want people to get the misconception that they only lost by 1 to the BEST team in WV. I am a South Charleston grad but I will be the first to admit that the talent level has gone wayyyyyy down since I was there. I just think the people from Perry Co would be singing a different tune if they played a real WV power.

I actually had a hard time finding much info about WV high school basketball rankings, but came up with the #1 AAA ranking here:
http://dailymail.com/Sports/201001140016
Here is a story about South Charleston after the Perry Central game and they have them at #4. This story is mostly about Perry Henry who according to the article has committed to West Virginia.
