Doesn't say much for EKY basketball when your #1 player is a walk-on and the rest may play somewhere like ALC if they are lucky... Just saying...

Actually, asking for the top twenty is almost impossible. I know there have been about a dozen threads in the past year asking the same question but they usually ask for the top ten, and that's even hard to come up with a list that most would agree upon.
There is no way I could come up with a top twenty that would make any sense.

According to reviews, specifically Cats Pause, to help separate the 14th, they have ranked:
1) Tate Cox
2) Stuart Stamper
3) Josh Whitaker
And from what I have seen that season that proves to be true so mine are:
1) Justice
2) Cox
3) Stamper
4) Hatfield
4) Whitaker (tie)
IDK for sure yet after that. 20 is a big field to pick.

Actually many are getting looked at by some good schools, maybe not D-1, but I know Transy is looking at some.

I agree with most by Justice being head and shoulders over everyone else in the mountains but I dont think Hatfield is that much better than either Cox and Whitaker.
01-09-2010, 06:39 PM
Whitaker outplayed Cox last night.
Three names come to the top of my head that Im suprised to not see any of there names on anyones list, Matt St Johns, Madison Johnson, and Cody Miller all three from the 13th region which is considered in the Mts. Im not not saying Hatfield isnt a top player but I think these 3 with Whitaker and Cox is just as good as Hatfield.

Timmy Knipp of Elliott Co. deserves some recognition.
01-09-2010, 09:47 PM
Timmy Knipp is leading the state in scoring and averaging a double double as a Junior. I think that he is number one because of the big D-1 potential at 6'7''. If he develops more and more and keeps his head on straight his name will be remember long after justice. Let the bashing begin.

He's better than Justice.

How many great under sized points guards have came threw the mountains? The over all picture of his potential and up swing yes IMO he is better than Justice, I have watched both play and would love to have both on my team without a doubt. But looking down the road and seeing which one brings the most possible potential to the college level; because that is what you are determined on at the end unless you are King Kelly Coleman or a Ervin Stepp, then I am taking Knipp because he is only a Junior will the world at his feet and its up to him to make his mind about what he is going to do with it!

Die hard 14th region fan aren't ya?
Timmy Knipp and Big man for South Laurel, I think Matt Stjohn or something? I guess throw Justice in there and Cox....Knipp being the best without a doubt.

I agree with you 100%

Another thing about Knipp, if you have ever watched him closely, you would see that he dominates games seemingly effortlessly. I have been watching him play since he was in 8th grade, and not once have i seen a look of despair on his face. If he really wanted to go hard, there isn't a defender in the state who could stop him one-on-one with all that height and athleticism.

These 2 are not necessaraily from Eastern Ky, but Aaron Watts from McCreary Central, and Jarrod Polson from West Jessamine, both players are D1 prospects. Rumor has it that Alabama is recruiting Watts pretty hard.

Overrated Wrote:Die hard 14th region fan aren't ya?Yeah, that's him Matt St. John.... he's hard to beat, but on this site, EKY seems to start at Johnson county and end at Letcher... IMO Knipp could just as easily be said to be #1.

1.Justice(small but quick, good handles, plays as hard in every game i have ever watched him play.)
2.Knipp(tall, athletic, and a great shooter, would love to see this kid play hard in 1 game.)
3.Cox(good shooter but an even better passer)
4.Hatfield(tall and a great shooter from anywhere on the floor)
