This was the year to be playing in the Republic Bank and the King of the Bluegrass.
Valley's scheduling has hurt them more than helped them. I agree 100% CT this was the year they should have been playing in the in state tourneys. Whats in Florida, and who cares? If you have a player that is in the running for Mr. Basketball, you have to showcase that young man in the state that he plays in. Therefor Booher has hurt Elisha more than he has helped him. I am as a bigger Valley fan that there is on this site or in the state for that matter, but I AM NOT A BOOHER FAN AT ALL!

I see him leaving after this year and taking a bigger job, with Greg Newsome stepping in and coaching Valley.

Probably so. Next year Valley will be way down and Booher will go out smelling like a rose. Makes me sick. BTW Greg knows ball. It would be a lot better with Greg making the calls.

I just wonder if Greg will still have a drive for basketball with Tyler graduating this year.

Either would be fine. The 15th region is missing Rowe's intensity.

Has anyone else noticed that kywldcat01 spends more time on Shelby Valley threads than any other threads?

Rowe would have showcased our Mr. Basketball nominee. R.Rowe would have played in the top tourneys in Ky. I could go on and on about what R. Rowe would have done and what Booher wont and dont do.

I wish when I was in HS Rowe would have been the coach, but nope, we had ol Boo Boo.

I don't know where you got your information, but Coach Rowe wasn't all that. He sure didn't schedule any tougher than Booher, and anybody that wasn't willing to jack up 25 three's a game didn't fit his system. Just ask his former players.

They played against 5 Star PG in Ryan Harrow (NC State), along with his teammate Glen Rice Jr. (Georgia Tech). The played against Noah Cottrill (WVU signee) and the three kids from Miller Grove that have numerous D1 offers. I'm not slighting Paintsville's schedule, just pointing out that they didn't make constant trips to Louisville and Lexington to play during the 1998 season...
The 1998 season was just one year. For several seasons primarily 1995-1998 they did make those constant trips outside the mountains to play teams like Madison Central when former UK player Estill was there, Lexington Catholic, Scott County and so on. By going on the road they were able to get those teams to come to Paintsville for a return game. Mr. Basketball's typically aren't one season super stars, they have had to show themselves over the course of their 4 years in high school across the state which is what JR and Paintsville had done.

 If someone is willing to schedule a game against a solid school in those areas, the way most contracts are set-up today, a return game at home will likely be there the next season.
