Final.
SV got down by as many 22 but fought back late in the game to make the game respectable.
Justice had a huge game with 28 points.
Ty. Newsome, Ta. Newsome, Hatfield, and Justice all in double figures.

Not sure what kind of a loss this is.
Any idea on what kind of team Meadowcreek is kywldcat? Should Shelby Valley have won this game, a game that could have went either way, or a team that SV really didn't have much of a shot at?

Great perfomance by Justice! Where was the support? Meadowcreek is a really good team and it would have been nice to see the Wildcats win this one!

Meadowcreek is down close to me and they play alot of the Gwinnett County teams. They are a solid team, but to put it in perspective they would be a decided underdog against teams like Wheeler and Peachtree Ridge, who other KY teams have defeated in the past week.
Best example would be to compare Meadowcreek to a team like Louisville Manual or Fern Creek. Good, solid, athletic competition. But, if SV was truly planning on being a contender for the State Title a team they should beat,, let alone trail most of the game by 15+ points.

The team as a whole has to shoot better than they did in order to win, I don't have the stats but it probably was under 40% and you can't win like that. There are some positives though, 4 starters in double figures, and Varney and the coach must have settled their differences because he did play but fouled out and I think only scored 2 points but played good defense.

Keep your heads up Valley

When was the last time Valley give up over 80 points in a game? Looks like the offense showed up, but no defense. Which is quite surprising.

Valley only had 32 points at the half....Meadowcreek scored 29 alone in the 3rd quarter.

Valley scored a solid amount of points that will usually win you a game at the high school level, but looks like the press didn't work very well after allowing 86.

You have an off night shooting every now and then but honestly the defense has not been there all year. They miss Bryant's defense out front terrible bad and last year Tackett and Adams would be back protecting the rim when the gaurds gambled and got beat. If the defense doesnt improve this team will not accomplish some of the things they expect. IMO I dont want to overreact but through the scrimmages and regular season games the defensive effort has not been there. Last two years the press has been lethal and its just not the same but it is early and they have time to iron it out. The roles of some of these players have drastically changed and they are still adjusting. Also on a side note most of these SV players had went a week without elecricity and then got on the bus drove to Florida and played ball. I know after a week without power I wasnt in much of a mood to do anything.
Dissapointing tourney now they can go to Orlando and relax come back and get ready for the Mountain Classic and the ALL A.

Lots of confusing information this basketball season, it was difficult to get a good audio of the game, it was much better last year on WDHR with Ronnie Paul Newsome announcing, he was a homer but was a good homer, ha ha.

I'm not sure what that means. No disrespect to your comment, but would you say keep your head up to the #5 team in the State of KY if they lost to the #35 team in the state of KY? If they are a top ten team in the state, I would expect that they could be a team that is in the 30's in any other state, or are we saying that KY HS Basketball is really not that good compared to other states?

Think they should have won this one. Team as athletic but their best player only had two points. Number 12 blew up for a ton and couldnt miss but in every other game there it had seemed to disappear. They were on fire, but Valley couldn't keep their man in front of them. Their defense looks lazy against athletic guards, need to dial back and work on keeping their man in front of them, press was a complete non factor.
Justice needs to touch the ball every single time down the floor or it is a wasted possession. Really hurts their chances when he isn't forcing the action with the ball in his hands. Some guys don't understand that all the way it seems.
Cody is back after quitting, they need him for depth certainly. SV could have left this tournament without losing these two games if they played well, but both times they did not come to play.
For the record they did not trail by 15 plus the whole game, down 5 at halftime and it should have been less of a difference. Got in a whole in the third quarter and the rest of the game, somehow they got it back to ten finally. Tough game to watch when you know a team can play so much better, and one team plays beyond their talent.

This is the first time this season they have played some tougher competition and the result was not very good.

I didnt say "back to the mountains" I said come back and get ready for the Mountain Classic which is a pretty strong field this year. Honestly they got beat so some people on here who have no idea about the games can say see they got beat by better competition. If they would have won then those same people would say you cant judge out of state competition.

Not trying to discredit Valley's effort, but they didn't start cutting in to the lead until Meadowcreek had two players foul out.
The Roth kid was unreal for Meadowcreek. I believe he finished with 28.
Also I wouldn't say one team can play better and the other played beyond their talent. Maybe SV just got beat by a BETTER team...ever think about that? I hate when people try to say their team lost because of a lack of effort or any other excuse they can think of. Just admit Valley got beat by a better team on that day. I could understand your comment if it was a close game, but Meadowcreek flat out dominated that second half up until about the last 2 or 3 mins when Valley went on a run with two Mustangs fouled out.

1-2 down in Florida. I think it is a good experience builder for the wildcats. Now it seems that they could have played better at the tourney but losing Varney and having to adjust to the lineup change for the long term.

I have wondered the same thing in regards to comments like this here lately with SV playing these out of state teams. Almost sounds as if KY HS Basketball just doesn't stack up to the other states in some folks minds. Same things was said after the last lose to the GA team.

You all treat these kids like they are the KY wildcats. These kids are high school kids playing in Flordia. Give them a break. Its very easy to forget why you go to Flordia. They are kids. Quit being so negative and judgmental of these kids. Good luck SV.

I do agree that everyone should stop being so negative towards Valley, their only high school boys.
But I also think that when they lose a game, SV fans should just except it and not make up excuses. When Valley beats other teams in the 15th region, their fans tell the other teams not to make excuses, maybe they should take their on advice.
Congrats to Valley on the 1st win and Good luck to them later on.

Didnt know that. I must have overlooked it. Valley got beat by a team that played better, simple. I know that Valley could have beat this team but it seems that the 3rd quarter sunk any chance at all of a game coming down to the wire. I hope that Valley takes a lot out of the trip, sounds like they didnt play their best ball but make two good efforts one resulting in a win.

Getting hammered by the 35th ranked team in GA while Scott Co plays close to the 2nd ranked team in Norcross and beats Wheeler a top ten team and Trinity destroys the 15th ranked McEachern team does not look good for SV.
IMO, SV should be ranked somewhere in the 15-20 range in state at the best and I can't see moving them up at all until we see how they compete against Christian Co(who is struggling 0-3 in Ashland tourney) later in January. I would think they will only get in the top ten if they make an impressive showing at Rupp in March!

I agree. SV is a very good team but I've been saying all along they aren't a top 10 team. No disrespect to them, but honestly they've done nothing to prove they're top 10 worthy.
Valley would be the 5th or 6th best team in the 7th region so how can they currently be ranked in the top 5?!?
Let's see how they fare against Christian Co then give another evaluation of them.

I agree with the two above posts. Shelby Valley's schedule is as easy as it gets. There is no way possible they could be ranked in the top ten or maybe even twenty with the schedule they have. They don't play a top ranked team in KY all season. Christian Co. just went 0-3 in the Ashland Invitational Tournament. I realize they were missing one player, but not having one player and getting beat by the teams that beat them difinitely knocks them out as being one of the top teams in the state.
Christian Co. won't even be ranked when Shelby Valley plays them. As for the All A Tournament.... enough said, it's the All A Tournament.
It's a shame with the talent that SV has they don't get the opportunity to get challenged this year. That will hurt them when they get to Rupp at the State tournament.
This also hurts Elijah's chance at Mr. Ky Basketball. With Trinity, Scott Co. and Holmes playing top teams in the state day in and day out, the players in the running will get the opportunity to shine against the best competition in the state.
