Who is the best player you have seen play?
#1. Mason Plumlee-Christ School, NC
#2. Keith Gallon-Oak Hill
#3. Lamont "MoMo" Jones-Oak Hill
Those are 3 off the top of my head I saw in the Bill Keightley classic last year.

You watched them all play?

Bill Walker from North College Hill.
Watched him put up 50 pts and pull down 25 rebounds against Holmes in 2006.
Holmes lost the game 100-66 and neither OJ Mayo or 6'11 Keenan Ellis played.
Walked plays for the Celtics now.

Saw them all personally and that is net even touching the surface. I have been going to events at Cincinnati's Riverfront Colleseum since the mid 80's. I've seen some of the best basketball players to play the game play in HS. I could make a list of greats just to come to little Dematha HS in Washington DC for years. I go to DC 8-10 times per year and have gone to see them play since the 80's. I've seen Oak Hill play several times.

I would have loved to see Garnett play.

It would take some time to put together a list but from the 80's I saw the following:
Dell Curry, Steve Alford, Kenny Walker, Danny Manning, Alonzo Mourning, Dennis Scott, Chris Webber,
90's
Grant Hill, Jamall Mashburn, Jason Kidd, Damon Stoudamire, Rasheed Wallace, Ray Allen, Tim Duncan, Tony Delk.
I just can't put them all down from memory. I've also been to several college and NBA games as well

Garnett was unreal in high school. There's a lot of good footage of him on youtube.

The most talented high school basketball player I ever saw play in person was OJ Mayo. I saw him play many times as a seventh and eighth grader at Rose Hill. I also saw him play during his years at North College Hill High School and at Huntington High School.
I only got to see Billy Walker play for Rose Hill in a preseason game against DuPont Manuel and later for NCHHS. He is the second best I ever saw play in person. It is a shame that injuries have always plagued him.
I saw a lot of highly talented players, including Sergent and Conley of Ashland and the Unseld boys from Louisville Seneca, a number of years ago. However, it was a different era for the game. Today's athletes are more advanced overall.
I'll add my choice as best high school coach- Paul Patterson and most colorful referee- Foster "Sid" Meade.

Got a chance to watch Mayo while at Rose Hill, can only imagine if Walker had stayed on the team that year if they could have won state.
Of course Walker/Mayo ended up in Cincy the next year and the circus really began.
I got a chance to see Vince Carter's last home game in high school at Daytona Beach Mainland.
My father talks about when he was in high school and Ronnie Lyons at Mason County, can only imagine his point total had they had a 3 point shot back then.

Hey Stardust, remember when Oak Hill played North College Hill at US Bank Arena?
Who was their big player then? I seem to remember that being when they had Ty Lawson?

I've seen a ton of talented players, but the best single high school performance was watching Ervin Stepp hang more than 50 points on Ashland in the AIT. He was triple teamed, shooting from halfway between the top of the key and the halfcourt line, and his misses were "in and out" shots.
Amazing performance. Absolutely amazing.
He wasn't a great athlete, and he didn't do much after high school, but for that season - and especially that night - he was unstoppable.

The best All-around player I've seen would have to be Darius Miller. Trevor Ferguson (NC State signee) from New Creations, IN played against Brentwood Academy's Brandon Wright (UNC signee). I've seen Scotty Hopson a dozen times, and he's a stud, but Tyshwan Edmondon made UHA go. I haven't seen OJ Mayo or Billy Walker since they were in 8th grade. Back when Paintsville had the Hoops Classic, Chatanooga Christian had a kid named Johnathon Cook. He won the MVP in the first tournament, and based on his performance, was the best player that tournament ever had.

I can't believe that Elisha Justice hasn't been mentioned yet. No knock on him, I just expected to see it, that's all.
By the way, I saw Keith Bogans in high school, and he was outstanding. OJ Mayo is probably the best I've seen in high school.

I was at that game... I was also at the game at Regents hall a year prior when OJ Mayo did play and he dropped a triple double on Highlands.
My top 5 would be 1. Mayo (Soph) 2. Greg Oden (Frosh) 3. Bill Walker (Junior) 4. Courtney Lee (Sr.) 5. Mike Conley Jr. (Frosh)
I watched as Oden and Conley's Lawrence North team took on Courtney Lee's Pike team at Lawrence North in 2003.

I have also seen Hopson and Miller and those guys who have been to rupp over the last 4 or 5 years but I was sticking with NBA players I have seen in High School when I made my list. Greg Oden was the most physically dominate high school player I have ever seen and that was when he was a freshman
