Boys 16th Region Super 7 Week of 12/14
#1
Article from Daily Independent.

Snyder's Super Seven

Boys

1. East Carter (4-0)

2. Ashland (5-0)

3. Fairview (3-0)

4. Menifee County (4-0)

5. Elliott County (4-2)

6. West Carter (4-1)

7. Bath County (3-0)

I am sure this will change between now and the first of March. What does everyone else think?

I think you can move a team up or down, here and there, but at this point, I think those teams look about right to me.

As the season wears on, I wouldn't be surprised to see Russell move into the picture somewhere. I'm not saying that they'll win the region, but that they will probably knock some people off as the season progresses.

There wins have come against 0-6 Boyd 2-3 Rowan who jsut beat Boyd by 8 points and 2-3 Greenup is a good quality win. But beating Boyd and Rowan really does not prove anything.

final on fairview game was 54-53 and not 53-52 still the same 1 point difference
#10
What about Fleming?

losing in ot to west carter does russell is right in the thick of things outside of ashland if they cut down on the turnovers

West is a decent team but really not in the top five in the region they are about will be a tough out come tournament time but they are the third best team in the 62nd district.

lets see russell loses to fairview by 10 west by 7 or so in overtime bath by 8 with the guy going for 30 points. Russell will be just fine come tournament play probably won't win the region since ashland is the clear favorite but they have a good chance to get back to johnson arena
#14
This has to be the best start ever for Menifee @ 5-0

They should for get to the region I think Fairview and East can give Ashland a run for the region. I also think Gregg gives Ashland just what they were needing. I don't look for Bush to see much action, Ashland is pretty deep at the guard position.

One interesting matchup this weekend could happen if Elliott and Ashland win their first games in the Derby Classic they will play each other.
#17
At this point, Ashland is probably playing the best basketball in the region.

Fairview and East are equally talented, and they will improve as the season goes on. After last nights games, it is apparent that Lewis County is showing everyone that they belong in this group. Almost all of the teams in the region will improve, but the question is, who can work out their shortcomings the best over the next two and a half months.

Barring injury (which can happen to every team in the region), I think Fairview will be the top team, with East Carter, Lewis County, and Ashland right there with them. After that, the next tier of teams probably won't have enough firepower to win the region. Four or five of them will have the ability to beat any one of the big four, but they would probably have to get lucky to beat two of them in the regional tournament.

Then again, that's why they play the games on the floor.
#18
Fleming could sneak up and beat some people too. Don't count them out.
#19
I agree, Sumj45.

They definitely played Ashland tough. I see them as being soundly in that second tier - and capable of beating any of the top teams.

Watched East play West at the EKC. Wasnt that impressed. Though Barnhill is a beast.

Ashland
Fairview
East.

Did you think that East will get better as the season goes along, and they get the injured players back?

What defense did West play, and how did they try to stop Barnhill?
