Pike/Floyd All-Star Game
#1
I know that we have discussed this topic before, but I havent heard anything else about it in a while. I think that was need to get together and get a date and location at one of the High School in either Co. for this coming spring and have this game.

Maybe getting the Expo Center would be a great idea.

Each County will get 12 players an the Coaches will be the winning Co Tournment Coach.

ANY IDEAS?

I think a pike floyd challenge tournament would be a great event.

i say you go 15 players, because you would have to take one player from every school in each county and certain teams in each county have 2 or 3 kids that deserve it. i don't see you getting everyone to agree to it unless you have someone from every team playing.

OK I respect that you think each team should get one repersentative, but if you do that then pike co have 13 teams....that is 13 players then you take that Virge, FC, and dorton has 2-3 kids each that deserves it. that is 16-19 kids if you do that. This is why I said have 12 kids the best 12 I dont care if Betsy Layne starting 5 Allen Central starting 5 and 2 kids from South Floyd is all that makes Floyd Co team if that is the 12 best then that is the 12 best.

I dont agree with Little league rules either " Each kids get 2 quaters in Basketball" If your kids signs up for LL then he should be prepared to play on the team like all the kids that play on "School" teams...he/she may play 10 mins this game and 0 mins the next two.

If you go with 1 kid per school then you are not showcasing the best kids. and the "you play in the showcase this year you cant play next year is silly"
If a kid who is in 7th grade or 6th grade is good enough to be on the All Pike or Floyd Co. team, then why shouldnt he be able to play again next year kids change from year to year. He may not get selected to play the next year, but telling him that he CANT play the following year only makes him dishearted and are we not trying to encourge kids to success at what they do? I THINK SO!!!!!

Maybe have two teams from each county. Like Floyd 1, Floyd 2, Pike 1, Pike 2.. Or just have some other events besides the all star game, that maybe some other kids could get involved with. Like a 3 point shoot out, Some sorta Skills Challenge, etc... But in all reality, no matter how you approach it, theres gonna be kids that are left out, and feel they shoulda got to play or whatever. Just nature of the beast.

pike county only has 11 teams.

What took place at MCA last year with the all-star game and the other competition made a great impact on all those who attended. I think this has a great opportunity for all of these schools to come together to showcase the talent in Pike/Floyd Counties.
#9
I say you should just take 8th graders and make an all star game

Other Top Players in Floyd:

Austin Salisbury #24 from AC
Austin Bailey #3 from SF
Blake Dean #1 from SF
Jimmy Helton #33 from SF
Michael Martin #25 from SF
Jarrod Jarrell #13 from BL
Dustin Rogers #23 from BL

IMO, you could have a 7th grade all star game and then an 8th grade one.

Then, maybe have the winners and losers play from those games.

I can tell you that 15th RR will hold the same type of event @ Wesley this year that it held last yr. over @ MCA. I will have more details the 1st week in Feb.; but we will have a 3 pt shootout; hot shot competition, big-man drills and possibly a couple of more specials events. I will be sending ballots around after the yr. and try to help organize an All-Star type of event ( I think all the coaches need to elect someone if they want to pull this type of event off; I will help get media coverage and TV for the event) I want to hold it at one of the HS gyms (anyone that would allow us to hold the All-star game event in their gym PM me) but all other preliminary events will be held @ Wesley. This was a special event and provided fellowship for all the athletes involved. To announce again 15th RR will hold special competitions @ Wesley; and would be glad to help out in any type of All-Star game the coaches would like to get organized ( I think it needs to be in a HS gym; though)
