St. Xavier 34 - Trinity 10 (6A State Championship)
#1
St. X was just to much for the shamrocks, game was close until halftime, 2nd half was all St. X in this freezing weather. Good job both teams, about 9000 people, but again Excellet Job St. X.

St X-34

X wants no part of the Birds

Highlands would beat X by 15-20 IMO...
#9
How many championships is that for X
#10
Fort Thomas may or may not beat X or T. And X and/or T may very well beat Fort Thomas. The fact is we will never know for this year. So everyone can pontificate to their hearts desire because no one will know for sure one way or the other.

Still, we can firmly state that FTH, X, and T are, far and away, the top three in achievement and tradition in the Commonwealth. Even counting ancient titles, no one else is remotely close.

Taking a look back at the series following this game....

Trinity and St. Xavier met for the 68th time during the 2009 regular season meeting at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium in Louisville and 69th time during the 2009 Class AAAAAA KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl at Houchens/L.T. Smith Stadium at Western Kentucky University. St. Xavier holds a 36-31-2 advantage in the all-time series, but Trinity is 8-7 in the playoffs against the Tigers. St. Xavier holds a 29-23-2 series advantage in regular season meetings between the teams.
• St. Xavier leads the all-time series 36-31-2.
• Trinity leads the postseason series between the teams 8-7.
• Trinity has won eight of the last 15 meetings between the teams, including four postseason games.
• The game has been played just once outside the city of Louisville, a Dec. 5, 2009 meeting at Houchens/L.T. Smith Stadium on the campus of Western Kentucky University. It marked the first time since 1967 that the teams had met in a facility other than the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center (1967 to 1997) or Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium (1998 to present).
• St. Xavier head coach Mike Glaser, who is 18-21 against the Shamrocks, including a 2-3 mark against the Shamrocks in the state finals, coached his 39th game against Trinity on Dec. 5, 2009, the most among any opposing coach in Trinity history. In fact, only Ballard and DeSales have played more games against Trinity as teams, not even individual coaches.

I think that's stretching it a bit. Not sure I'd put St. X in the same category as Trinity and Highlands. Trinity and Highlands are at the top with their 19 titles but St. X and their 12 titles would be at the second level with Beechwood's 11 and Danville's 10. Level three would have Mayfield with 7 and Male, Cov Cath, Boyle County, and Fort Campbell with 6 each. After that it starts to fall off.

Cracks me up that St. X. is ranked #1 in the state ahead of Highlands who shallacked the team X got waxed by. Good ole' fashioned Ky. bias.....

That's why rankings are pointless. It's all opinion and opinions stink regardless of who's it is. Take Cincy St.X (the team "Highland's shallacked" and the team that "X got waxed by") for example. Some National Polls had them ranked No. 1 in the nation earlier in the season. They ended up losing in the second round of the Ohio playoffs.

I made my own poll earlier this season and posted it on here. You should make your own poll and vote Highland's number one! :1:
