Who will be favored in 4A 2010?
#1
With on game left in 4a who is the favorite next year.....

I think it will be either Bell or Boyle..
#2
Bell Co

They only lose 3 on defense. Raines, Lowe, and Lawson.
#3
Bell is the favorite becuse they're returning all their good players and if im not mistaken Boyle is losing the majority of their key players so BELL will be the big time favorite next season!!
#4
With losing 27 players to graduation....how can you include boyle in this conversation..btw is it rumor that an assistant from boyle is taking the mercer job......will french stick around after losing that many players.....if memory serves me well he usually doesnt stick around long with a program anyway

Boyle starters that return on defense:

#5 Lamar Dawson
#22 Brian Ferrell
#31 Chris Cook
#44 Dre Cox
#91 Paul Megilligan
#41 Zach Hester
#34 Ryan Wilson

This years Boyle Jr. class beat Trinity as Freshman. We lost over 20 Sr's from last years team also and look what we done this year. The defense will be solid next year. We will be in the conversation!

dont dismiss boyle.

bell, boyle, lex cath and a few other programs in 4A (dont know much about western ky teams) have very good development systems that teach the young players how to play football. year in and year out these programs play top quality football not because they have a superstar player but because they all have been given a good understanding of the football system and have coaching staffs that prepare the kid very well to compete against anyone. these teams may have a let down year every now and again, but they are consistently well coached in the long run.

#44 is Devon Cox (Sorry)

Rockcastle will NOT be favored in 4A but if they were in almost ANY other district they would go a pretty good ways in the playoffs.

No sarcasm intended AT ALL...Bell County will have an undefeated State Championship team next season.
#9
Bell will be the team to defeat

Bell County or Boyle County will be favored to win the Class 4A State Championship like the last 2 seasons

Please don't send the lynch mob, but does Bell play Alcoa next year? The only two reasons I ask is #1 I am not sure of the answer because I don't know what Bell's schedule looks like for 2010 and #2 if Alcoa is on the schedule you can't gaurantee an undefeated season. I am not saying next years Bell team can't beat Alcoa and I hope they do if they are on the schedule because I never want a KY team losing to a TN team. But, Alcoa is a tough win for anyone they play and that is just the facts of it!TongueirateSho

I think Bell is the preseason favorite. Boyle, Lex Cath and Lone Oak will almost always be in the top 5. I'm not sure what ACScotts has back or Marion but they were both good this year. Not sure what Rockcastle hass but Knox, Rowan and Lawrence all return a lot of talent and should round out the top 10.

I believe that Alcoa has contracted to play Middlesboro next year in the season opening game.

Depending on how the talent is split up in Shelby Co. either Shelby Co. or Collins (new High School in Shelbyville) or both could have the potential to make some noise in 4A. Shelby will be dropping to 4A next year, went 9-3 losing to Trinity in the second round of the 6A playoffs with a junior laden team
#15
Highlands could possibly be dropping to 4A next year. I won't go into the details but there is a good chance that it could happen...

I was meaning the undefeated season....as long as they do not play Colerain, Lakeland, Mainland, Highlands, Alcoa, etc... powerhouse teams. If they play Rock, Knox, Corbin, Marion, Lone Oak, Boyle, Whitley, etc... they wont lose a game.

Looks like she knocked Alcoa off the list for me

You must be very young with a short memory then.

I believe that French was at Mercer County from '79 to around '88. He was at Meade County from there until around '02 or so and then went to Lincoln County. He was the Patriots coach until coming to Boyle in the '08 season.

Where in the world do you see "doesn't stick around long with a program anyway?" Confusedhh:

Boyle's program is in better shape by leaps and bounds than it was when Pardue left. It should be a team that contends for the title but will be in the mix with a Bell, Lone Oak, Lex Cath and others. Bell would have to be the early favorite but not so prohibitive a favorite that others aren't in the same mix and just as capable.

Larry French is a friend of mine. He has been successful everywhere he has Coached. Boyle will be in the conversation as long as he stays. IMO that will be a long time. Bell Co. has to be the top Dog. only loosing 3 players.

Rumor is that Middlesboro is wanting out of that game. I suspect Bell will play Alcoa again next season.

Very true. Now after this class or so gets through I think you'll see Collins being the better program and a program that will be talked about year in and year out. That of course depends on them getting a good staff in there from the start. I am not sure the people doing the hiring and some people out in the state realize what could be there.

Won't happen. And it is not a realignent year either.

with all due respect your jr class did beat trinity but the whole story is it lost to 12 west jessamine players that they laughed at dureing pregame. they wern't laughing after the 12 beat that rearend:redboxer: but yes id have to take boyle as the faverite as i know what they have comeing back sorry bell but if french stays there a lock better than this years edition. And yes we would like you guys to send us a head couch up the road as we are 1 short as of right now. we might be less than boyle now but we strive to improve and i think a boyle assistant could be the key. LO, look at what they return, next year is the year they had been circling as the year to win it then they suprised themselves and made it this year. I would rank LO #1 and Bell a distant #2

Wait and see what the score is Friday before you make that statement.
#26
i also heard that highlands is dropping down to 4a if this is the deal neither boyle or bell will win another state title....
#27
Highlands would be a tall order but they are not perfect. It's not impossible. Well maybe impossible this year but there's always next year.
#28
yea but it will make 4a a whole lot tougher is boyle going to 3a
#29
Yeah but it wont be for 3 or 4 more years. It will take that long for the lower class numbers to get to the high school. There is another adjustment in 2011 but more than likely it won't be until 2013 for them to drop. We are in 4a for the next 3 or 4 years at least.

I'm going with Lexington Catholic.
