Who should get Coach of the Year in the Mountains?
#1
Pike Central Coach
Lawrence County Coach
Allen Central Coach
Prestonburg Coach

That some suggestions, Just like here what you all think or if there a coach that i left out just add him and tell me why you think that he should be coaqch of the year.

I would have to lean more toward John paul Chapman of Pike Central, just because they had never won a playoff win before and they have already won 2 in one year.

Lawrence County's Luke Salmons.

Salmons would be "1A" in my book.

Derossett would be a very close "1B". Nobody thought Prestonsburg would even come close to being as good as they have been this year. Great coaching job.

But, you have to give it to Salmons. From zero wins to zero losses in a single year. How could you not vote for him?

I also would like to add Somerset Coach too, I guess you could say that there in the mountains. He has done a heck of job this year and it hard to follow in the footsteps of a legend like Jay Cobb, but he is making a good name for his self. Can some one give me some info on Somerset Coach, like were did he coach?

I'd say the new Lawrence coach would have to get coach of the year for the mountains, Prestonsburg,Somerset,Pike Central and Allen Central all had or are having a spectacular year, but going 0-11 to 12-0 in one year just takes the cake in my book

That is hard to argue with but the reason Iwent with Chapman is that Pike Central is not use to winning and he has show that commmunity what it takes to win and how to win. Lawerence is triditional a very strong program and are use to winning, but Luke needs a pat on the back and he is starting a new chapter in bulldog football and would have to say Dudley watch out because the bulldogs are back.

I agree on the Somerset coach. He took a team that was devastated early in the season and has coached them into a state contender! For those who didnt know Somerset's coach unexpectedly vacated the program days before the first game. I feel the challenge he faced and the results he has achieved are a compliment to the word Coach!

John Paul Chapman I mean he has only been there less than a year and look at what he has accomplished.

I would totally give this award to Luke Salmons from Lawrence County going from an 0-11 for one year and the next year going 12-0, that is a definate plus for the voters to look at. I guarentee some ppl on here is going to put Bell County's coach on here even though I did all the research with the strength of schedule and the scoring margin.

Robbie Lucas at Somerset has done a remarkable job this year. In fact he is still battling for his job, Interim Title has not been removed and school has said repeatedly that there will be a full coaching search after the season.

Even with the success Somerset has had this year he refuses to accept any credit, deferring to his players and Coach Cobb ( the former coach). Coach Lucas had to be pratically drug by the AD to get in a picture with the seniors and the district throphy. When he did get in the picture he stood behind the players and moved so that he wasn't in the shot. This is one man that absolutely coaches for the kids with ZERO ego in his job.

I know a lot of team have had great seasons, but this man was put in an almost impossible situation and has exceeded everyone expectations.

Robbie Lucas
Coach of the Year

After tonight I think this one has to go to Somerset's Robbie Lucas!!! Great job for a guy that just became head coach a week before the season.

I agree.

Dudley Hilton if he wins State again this year. Last Mountain team to beat Bell Co was in 2006 and now that will go into 2010.

well we cant give it to Dudley every year. Or maybe we should just let him hold on to it till a mountain team beats him. Any way Bell seasons ends soon dont think they can beat Boyle. Seen both teams play against JC and Boyle seems to have the better team imo.

I agree 100%. It shouldn't be a debate- He may win state coach of the year.

I would like to wait and see what Bell and Somerset do from here on out. If Somerset goes to State and wins very hard to argue, same with Bell.

This thread may be just a little early.

Knowing the history of Pike county central and their lack of success and what they did this year I would say their coach has to be in the running.

I think couch Jeremy Hall from Allen Central should get this because he turned that program around from 1-9 in 2003 to 10-2 in 2009 soo i think thats a big turn around for this school and he should be very happy for doing that he has took Allen Central to the next level in football congrats Allen Central be happy that you all got to 10-2 and broke alot of records this year in football
