2009 Breathitt County Bobcats: "The Comeback Kids"?
#1
If Breathitt does steamroll Somerset like I think they will...win the next two games and the Class 3A State Championship this year after such a difficult regular season riddled with injuries and difficult losses....would not this be one of the greatest team turnarounds ever?

These guys could do it in my opinion. This team has just as much if not more talent than last year's team. Haddix and Fugate are two of the best in the state and Holcomb is one of the best coaches in the history of high school football. The rest of the team is healthy for the first time all season and the team is obviously firing on all cylinders.

This is the most dangerous team in the state 3A at this point in the season. I think some of you are too quick to write a team off after a few injuries coupled with a few losses. These guys are in top form at the right time and that is the most important thing. We will see....but my money is on the Bobcats.

Breathitt didn't have that good of a season compared to last years team, but they've won 6 Straight and if they go to the Briar Patch and Beat Somerset, then Breathitt Could very well end up in Bowling Green. Holcomb is one of the best coaches in the state of kentucky that ive ever seen. he know's how to get the job done.

I think beating Somerset will be a hard win. (much less steamrolling them). They have turned things around but before you get too excited about last night win, Garrard is not that great of a team. They can score points but can't tackle ANYBODY. I would hold this thread till after the Somerset game.

As an outsider, paying attention to this team throughout the year, they certainly appear to have found themselves. They appear to be playing they way they were predicted to play before the season started.

well by saying garrard is not that great of a team, you may as well say that somerset is not that great of a team. breathitt beats garrard 62-12, somerset beats garrard 34-20 i think. and i do know this, breathitt will most def. not be intimidated by an undefeated record.

All except our other RB Prichard are back and healthy now.But we have a good replacement for him in Trent. We are peaking at the right time. Now is when it counts.

Breathitt needs to prove theirselves against a quality team before they are considered the comeback kids.

Comeback? You cant come back from nowhere!!!!

I have said it several times that it is time for Breathitt to play Breathitt football!! IMO this game against Garrard Co was just the kind of break out game they needed!! It's seems to me that Breathitt Co is back and this next game will really prove that. As i have said before i think Channing Fugate has the ability to put Breathitt Co on his back and carry them all the way to Bowling Green! If they come out and play true Breathitt football at the Briar Patch then they should win this one and i truely think that if they beat Somerset they'll be playing in Bowling Green!! Go Bobcats!!

We don't need to get to ahead of ourselves. We have made great progress and If we continue to improve and make it to Bowling Green and bring home another state championship to Jackson then we will be known as the Comback Cats. I believe we will be in Bowling Green and I believe we can bring home our fourth championship but we need to take one week at a time and we will be fine. Good Luck Bobcats.

Hold on a minute here. Let's look at the good teams they played, lost to SC, lost to Pburg, lost to PCC( good but not great), lost to JC, lost to Lexington Christian. Barely beat a good but not great Hazard 7-3. I know Fugate didn't play or it would have been worse. My point is they did not win or beat the good teams. To say "comeback cats" makes no sense because they did it against Powell, Wayne and Garrad, who are not very good. Beat a good team, beat Somerset, beat somebody good for once this year.

i agree with this. i wouldnt call them the comeback cats, they won games when they got to the weak part of the schedule. couldnt win a game against the better opponents.

Breathitt may beat, somerset, and if Sheldon Clark loses to PC, then they will get to the finals, but again..Central or whoever is waiting on them, will defeat them, Theres mountain speed, and then theres speed.
#18
yet again i question how is somerset so much better. yes they are undefeated but who have thy played so tough. and out of the teams that breathitt and somerset has faced breathitt has held the opponet's to less scores and scored more on them. now i know someone is gonna say the weather what about it. you have to play the game no matter the conditions outside so why cry about them breathitt is just as good as any team in 3A if not better.

You saying the same thing as people were i live at. The night Somerset play them. Somerset might have a bad game. With Breathitt Co. record, you should know about bad games.

Were PCC beat Breathitt 37-14, and Breathitt Co. beat Hazard 7-3. Everone around here saying that PCC would have kill Hazard this year.

Breathitt has not been able to beat a good team all year, but if they can beat a solid, but unproven Somerset team, they have as good a chance as anyone to win it all in 2009, that is how weak 3A is.

Im a huge Breathitt fan, but I dont think we need to count our chickens before they hatch. The players and coaches know this. Somerset may have not played good teams but they still have won all their games. We need to give them some respect. It should be a war out the on friday.

The door has opened a little wider for Breathitt co. Alot of things had to happen and they did with Mason co. and Belfry out. Somerset is undefeated for a reason and they did beat Pulaski co. who is playing for the 5A regional title. Breathitt has a good shot to beat Somerset but it will be a tough game at Somerset. This one will go to the wire.

Of course you do.
Never count Breathitt County out in the playoffs I don't care if they have one any games in regular season you can bet they will be ready to play!
Go Bobcats!

Very well could be? When you have a horse like Fugate you always have a shot. We saw him here in Louisa last year and he was impressive.

I would say that 3A in the east has been wide open all year. Mason Co. and Belfry were not any better than Breathitt, PCC, SC, or Somerset in 2009, so them losing did not open up anything.

All I am saying is that these guys...the Bobcats...have a great opportunity to turn things around and maybe win the state 3A this year. If so that would be one heck of an accomplishment in my book especially since how so many people have been so quick to get down on them this year after a few tough early season games.

The tide turned against Hazard. Too much focus on Fugate at the beginning of the season. That win without him against a good Hazard team was a must in my opinion. It was also a good choice by Holcomb to let the "Big Horse" rest the bruised hip for that game. The younger guys deserve a lot of credit for stepping up.

Also, if Fugate and the Bobcats get another shot at Central the Bobcats will win....I have no doubts about it. Fugate will carry the whole Central defense on his back up and down the field if he has too. He had 175 yards and 2 tds against Central last year and will have 275 yards and 4 tds this year if the Bobcats make it to the final game. This year's Bobcats will not be denied.

i dont know what youve been smokin lol. he had a better offensive line last year. breathitt wont even score 4 tds if they play central this year. and channing definitely wont pull off 275 yards.

You all will be lucky to get by somerset but either way it will be close, who has breathitt played tough besides a little 1 A Lexington christian, Breathitt lost to Sheldon Clark and they were beaten by a team that came out of nowhere in regular season ( pike central )
#30
I agree with you. The boys need to stay focused and just play one game at a time. All the games that Breathitt has lost this year they beat themselves and they'll tell you that. They could've and should've been undefeated with the exception of Lexington Christian they did have an awesome team.
