pitiful, absoulutley pitiful, I honestly can't say i've seen a Pikeville team to be as bad as this years team,if Pikeville can't beat Haraln they just need to do away with the program or not play again until they'll be good, this is why theres 0 fan support and no one cares about the program anymore, boys you better work real hard in the offseason, cause theres not point in putting on the maroon and white if your gonna be that terrible wearing it, just takes away from the name and tradiation more and more every game

Was this a surprise?

^ Yes. Big upset here.

With Shelby Valley and Pike Central improving it will be very hard for Pikeville to get kids from the county. What does the future look like for the Panthers ? Will they go down the same path as Paintsville ?

What a great win for the Green Dragons!!! Congradulations.

yes a big one, regardless of Pikeville's record this year they still should have beat Haraln, there's no excuse for losing to Harlan at all:HitWall:

Congratulations to the Harlan Green Dragons. Nothing to be ashamed of Panthers. Better days ahead. Wishing good luck to Harlan in the playoffs.

FWIW, there was a recent prediction thread where the vote was:
Pikeville - 26
Harlan - 5
This certainly wasn't expected by most.

I figured the 2nd coming of Howard would be able to easily beat a 5-5 Harlan team that gave up 22 points to Jenkins. Yes, Jenkins. Pikeville could only muster 14? I thought the younger Howard was an offensive Genius? Thats what everybody called him at LCC.

Congrats Dragons.

This was my upset pick this week. Pikeville just went down hill after Hillard Howard left from there.

Huge upset, I thought PHS was gonna get a big break on the last play of laterals.
Good luck to all Seniors
Good luck to all Seniors

First of all. Congrats to Harlan.
As for us it was a good season for our boys. I really saw some improvement in some players during the course of the season. I believe we finally have a coaching staff that we can rebuild this program with moving forward. Its just going to take time. Just Like it did for Bens dad when he came here in '72. Just like it did for Coach Haywood over at Belfry when they went an entire decade over there without a region title only to come back better than ever.
Im very proud of this senior class. I would be hard pressed to think of a class of football players that has dealt with more adversity than these kids have during their football careers. Just think for a moment. Since these kids were freshmen theve seen 3 coaches in 4 years with major amounts of drama surrounding the arrival and departure of the previous 2. Not to mention drastically different philosophies and offenses to grasp with each change. I place the blame SOLELY at the feet of our administration for that. Theyve played non distict schedules in back-to-back years that maybe 10 teams in our 90+ year history could have a winning record against. The previous 2 coaches as well as the administration can share the blame on that one. But through all that. These boys didnt quit, They perservered, They kept playing when it wouldve been easier to just walk away like some of their teamates did. I hope one day when these boys see what theyve done they can look back and be proud of it. Ben told the Seniors after the game tonight that they laid the foundation for great things to come in the future with this program. I gotta disagree with part of that statement. Our foundation for this rebuilding project is our tradition. Which IMO gives us a leg up on some pretenders out in the county who have no tradition to build on. But, with that said, hopefully these seniors built the 1st story of great things to come at Pikeville....We Shall See. Good Luck to my LIL Bro JR Robinson and the rest of the Senior Panther Football class of '09-10. Now and always I will say GO PANTHERS!

It's hard to watch Seniors collapse after a heart breaker in the playoffs. When you think about 4 years of Spring practice, Camp, and every day after school, dedication has set in. It was the only sport the 5 boys played and worked hard at. You've got to understand, the roads going to end, but no one realized how fast it does.
I wish the best for them. Hail Pikeville, I owe loads of respect to you. You're at every game kickoff to buzzer, walk out to each post-game huddle, and probably go to practices that I dont see. You and JR both were passionate and I hope he will put pads on for further years.

WOW! Can someone please explain to me what happened in this game? I never expected this outcome, i pretty much thought that Pikeville would run Harlan over. The kind of schedule the Panthers played i thought they were destined for a matchup with Hazard!?

Which game did you attend since your team wasn't playing last night? Oh yeah you probably had to help with basketball practice. A Greenup Co. fan calling anyone out in football is beyond dumb.

Congrats to Harlan. I have been a Pikeville fan all my life, and will continue. But it is always to see something good happen for some teams that have been through a lot of hardships. Way to go green dragons. Pikeville will try to rebuild a program that has gone way down hill, but I believe they can do it.
