Time to change our playoff system!

Here is a chance to voice the opinions of the unsilent majority, the true football fans. We're the ones who buy the tickets, so let our opinions be heard. State in full detail the ideal playoff format in your opinion. All opinions welcome. The KHSAA checks out these websites, don't think they don't. Mabey a good enough suggestion might sink in. THANX! Let's hear the opinions of the true football fans! No negative coments, just your honest opinion. The opinion of the people who buy the tickets on Friday night.

I take option 1. Reward the #1 seed with a first round bye. 2's play 3's, advance to play 1's. 2-3 is usually a good game, 1-4 usually is not. Take a look at all the 1 seeds that scored 70 this year in the first round. Read all the posts from fans saying they had poor turn-outs in these 1-4 games. An 0-10 team should never make the playoffs, ever.

I'll take the 4th option. Every other sport every team makes it to post season.

Football is a regional playoff system. District has already been decided. Teams advance to the regional championship game, not the district title. Already a district champion. Not everyone advances to the region in b-ball. (Hypothetical) Breathitt is already the district champion from reg. season(why do you think there is a tie-breaker system, to determine the district champion) Breathitt beats Wayne(1st round) Breathitt beats Garrad(round 2) Do you understand they are not playing they're district teams? Breathitt plays Somerset(round 3) for the REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.
IT IS NOT A DISTRICT TOURNAMENT. Now tell me when all teams in B-BALL makes the regional tournament?

i wonder if it would help if people started a petition

Option 2 can't work. You would have three winners for the second round. What would you do then?
#9
if you only take the top 2 teams out of each district then there wouldn't be much good actions throughout the playoffs

So we just need to leave it alone

Actually you could make it work but it wouldn't be worth the trouble.

You would have to give someone a second round bye in order to get it to work and how would you decide whom to give it to when you have two number 1 seeds and a number 2 seed still alive?

Actually in Ky there are 16 regional teams in basketball and softball and baseball is going to a 16 region format in 2010.

So what would happen if your team was #4, but doesn't make it? You going to say, man I wish they would change it back when they had a 4 team playoff system. Then my team would at least make it to the playoffs. Leave it alone! Too many changes. It is fine the way it is.

Hold on a minute now, Basketball only the district champion and district runner up advnce to the region. If I'm wrong tell me. So that would match a 2 team format in football. Everyone in the district DOES NOT advance to the regional tournament. Thay don't add up what your saying. Your stating everybody goes to the region in every other sport why should football be any different? That is not true.

If my team was a 4 and was 0-10 or 1-9 and didn't win a district game then I believe my team would need to work a little harder if they wanted to earn a playoff birth. But we don't have to work harder or do the things it takes to get better, It's a given, we'll be there anyways. Your not making it when your gonna be there anyways, It's handed to you.

I find it quite interesting to acknowledge the opinions and perspectives that those in our local communities possess. Many conflicting perspectives and standards.

I can't believe I'm saying this , but , what about this , ( guys go to the body, not the face, LOL!!!), let's use the basketball state champ. format, let's force the teams to participate ( sched. wise ) within their own region, some regions, will need a north - south division, and a champ. game, ( ala big 12 or sec for instance ) , playoffs start with 16 schools , winner take all , small schools would be at a disadvantage , but, just , winning a regional champ. would be an unbelievable accomplishment, ( regional travel , who plays who , and so on , I'll leave to folks a whole lot smarter than me ) just throwing it out there, don't be too hard on me , think about the matchups !!!! ......
