Whitesburg Middle School was able to repeat as Letcher County Champs this afternoon by defeating Jenkins 45 to 40. Keith Baker's Jackets led most of the first half but a resilant Nathan Mullins coached Jenkins Cavalier team tied the score at the half 19-19. An early 3 by Whitney Creech in the 3rd quarter gave Jenkins their first lead. The Jackets rallied behind a Sara Baker three and two field goals by Kelly Adams to tighten the game back up. Cheyanne Stidham"s two field goals and two free throws allowed the jackets to wrestle the lead away from a red hot shooting Mercedes Boggs at the end of the 3rd 32-28. The Jackets pulled away in the 4th to win 45-40. A large crowd was on hand to celebrate the victory at Letcher County Central gym. The consolation game saw Martha Jane Potter defeat an improving Letcher team.

Congrats to the Jackets and Keith Baker. Sounds like the Jenkins team improved greatly this season and a big congrats to the Cavaliers and their coach as well.
