I have to take Belfry by 14!
Welcome to the best site in town! If you need anything, just let me know.

Sheldon Clark will win this game

How do you predict a game like this one? As a pirate fan I have to go with Belfry but it will be one of the best games in the state come Friday night. Regardless of whether or not Thomas and Nate are 100% just there presence on the field will be a great lift for the team. Many 3A teams still playing football will be interested in this game.

SC- 28

I'm going with Belfry in this one for the simple fact every time sheldon clark plays belfry, they get scared and always play a bad game it never fails, I hope the cards win, but if they play like they did last time it will get ugly from the beginning.

Belfry by 2 TDs

This game depends on ground game, players that will/might be out, and if everyone can keep their cool. I'll take SC by 8.
#39
Nate and Thomas need to be healthy. Illl prolly go to this game cause i dont feel like goin to mason co.

I would love to be there for this game, it will be a dandy.
#41
I have strong-gut feeling that this will be a classic for both teams, but I will pick Belfry on a slight edge to the finish.
#42
nope no classic good win for the pirates
#43
Should be a good game....Hager needs to be the coach of his players on the field instead of a player of the coach across th field(Haywood)
#44
To big of a game for the cards. Belfry will come out
and just play ball and move on to the next round can't
pick the score i will have to see how practice goes this
week.

that is very true
hager always plays the belfry game just to keep the game close. yes he wants to win but never takes chances.

Disagree. Hager has taken some HUGE chances that have backfired, but they have nothing to do with formations. Hager has been notorious in previous years to go for it on 4th Down deep inside their own territory when they are only trailing by 2 TD's. As a result Belfry has held SC on downs and went on to score ona short field and turn a game in jeopardy into a blowout.

The good news is he chose not to do that in the first meeting this year, instead opting to use the "quick kick".

Keys to the Game:

Sheldon Clark Cardinals

- Remain Cool
Shawn Hager and the Cardinals have had a past of losing their cool, they come in energized and pumped and at the first sign of bad things they lose it. For example, as stated above, when Hager begins to go for it on long fourth downs and of course, the fight. If they put themselves in the position to lose they'll do just that.

- Win the line battle
Johnson Central showed that when you get a push on Belfry's line bad things happen. The problem is, Thomas didn't play. But getting a good push slows down the Fullback runs, which means you only have to account for the halfbacks.

- Air Mail
The Belfry secondary struggled against the pass in the win over Lewis County, despite the fact both starting safeties were injured, the pass could be very big for Sheldon Clark. If Belfry doesn't see it coming, and the pass game could make or break the Cards.

The Belfry Pirates

- Bones, Joints, Muscles, etc.
Nagging injuries have been into play for the key players of Belfry, Thomas went down, Nate's been hurt, Timmy got hurt, Chancey went down. Even though all these guys are expected to be back, a few of them might not be 100% - this could play a factor in this game.

- Tomcat
When Belfry puts Thomas Varney back at quarterback, anything can happen. It's Hager's job to stop it, and can he do it? It's extremely difficult to plan to stop a Wishbone, a Flexbone, and a Spread offense. Haywood mixes it up right and it could be a long night for the Cards.

- Linebackers
In the running game it will take a ton off Nathan and Thomas if the linebackers get those backs to the ground before they reach that level. If Payton and Gary keep the backs gobbled up before they reach the secondary, that's less work for Thomas and the fresher he is on offense, the better for the Pirates.

- Expect the Unexpected.
Shawn Hager is prepared to throw things at Belfry they've practiced all year and never ran in games, trick plays, anything it takes to beat them. Belfry has to be aware of that.

Nice effort 0304:Thumbs:

IMO, the key to Belfry is the same thing if they were playing any 3A team left in the playoffs:

1. DE's and LB's have to play good assignment football, not miss tackles, and not overpursue the play.

2. Belfry has got to establish the fullback and the outside running game to open up room between tackles for the HB's. It can't start in reverse order.

3. No illegal procedures, no delay of games, and no fumbled exchanges. Belfry doesn't have the margin of error as in year's past, so the last thing they can do is stop the drives themselves.

3A is down and every team remaining is flawed. If Belfry can do the three things above they have every opportunity to make it to Bowling Green.

You're completely right. I just didn't want to put more keys for Belfry than Sheldon Clark, wouldn't be fair.

I think one big key for SC is that they stay in the game early. If Belfry jumps out 14-0, then Hager's mind starts racing and this is where he starts making his crazy decisions. The best way to avoid having to make a decision about changing a gameplan, is to not have to face that decision. If SC can match Belfry scoring, or if they can get a lead, then he can stick to his original gameplan. IMO, it is not going to matter Friday night what his gameplane is. The Pirates jump out early and never look back.

I know they will be jacked up. I think they feel that they have not been given enough respect because of the ejections and injuries; people saying the previous game would have been different. All that really matters is this Friday night. The past is not a factor. Belfry will be ready to play. Will SC?TongueirateSho

I can promise you this Bucslover SC will be fired up and ready to play and i feel like it shall be a war.

The crowd this Friday needs to be rabid. I shouldn't have to be typing this, but Belfry's crowd has a little "fat-cat" disease. We have become a little spoiled. Let's not be like Pikeville or some of these schools who can't draw many fans to their games unless it is a huge game. We are Belfry, not anyone else. We play for more than just advancing a couple of rounds in the playoffs. We play for championships. Nothing is guaranteed. I fully believe that Belfry will beat SC on Friday, but SC is talented enough to beat Belfry. Let's not give them a chance. Let's imtimidate SC so much that the game is over by the half. If the adults aren't cheering, then the students should come to the center of the bleachers and make them get off their tails and cheer. They should paint their bodies and act like hooligans, but be classy of course. The 12th man should be riled up from at least tunnel time till the final horn. These are two of the top teams left in 3A and Belfry has a great chance to get to Bowling Green. Make the CAM a place that rocks on Friday night. Make the earth and bleachers shake and GO BIG RED!!!!!

I have no doubt they will CA and I hope they do. There is nothing better than a great playoff atmosphere when both team's fans are crazy.

We had great numbers at the Russell game it would almost make me want to say we had more fans out then them and boy as we all loud, I still don't have a voice lol. But Buc here is to a clean good hard fought game everyone knows whats on the line here. This is the road to where the boys are separated from the men and champions are crowned.
