Sheldon Clark 36 Russell 14

Pink Flamingo Wrote:I see what your saying but still a home playoff game against a tough Sheldon Clark IMO should have brought a crowd! But it was pretty cold tonight!
It would have brought a huge crowd had Russell came in with a 8-2 or 9-1 or 10-0 regular season. It was down in the 30's near freezing that night Belfry came to town in 2005. It was only about 46 at game time tonight and dipped down to about 43. but a 6-5 is subpar for Russell they expect to win 10+ or a championship.

It reminds me of Kentucky Basketball expectations.

Great game CARDS now lets get fired up for Pond Creek.

Sheldon Clark looked like a team on a mission tonight in the second half and shutdown the Devils. They look to be healthy now and now I'm interested to see what they can do. I'm looking forward to the belfry game for it should be a Dandy.
#34
I just hope it isnt another belfry repeat.

GOREDDEVILS Wrote:I think the lack of Russell fans there was due to the fact that Russell really wasn't expected to win this game. If you had been at the Belfry game when they rolled in 2005 you would have noticed the difference in the amount of fans for Russell. After all this was one of the worst Russell teams in years.
A Russell fan finally admits it, what will happen next.

I'd say Russell will whip Greenup County on the hardwood that's what will happen next.

Another Note this is Sheldon Clarks first win ever against Russell
#38
i knew sc would win, congrats, now its time for the rematch, conrats to russell on the year

You don't have the size to compete against us this year, now get back on subject, where were all your fans tonight? And what happened to the Devils?:please:

What happened to Greenup County, a 46-0 goose egg and don't tell me Russell doesn't have th size to compete with Greenup this year in Basketball. These are the same players minus 2 players that was on last years team that beat Greenup County out of the district. I believe I told you where the fans were did you not read my previous post.

I'm a Russell fan and I was at the game and I can tell you where they were, they were at home sitting on their butts probably listening to the UK game. Russell has a bunch of fair weather fans both literally and figuratively. If they think Russells going to lose, they wont come out, and If they think Russell will lose and It's cold or bad weather, forget about, bunch of no shows.

This is about what I expected. Sheldon Clark is a tough bunch of kids. Next is Belfry and I believe the Cardinals have a little something for the Pirates.

The score was Bell 44-0 over Greenup, and I can't wait till we stomp you all on the hardwood, always keep a Devil down when you get a chanch.

Yes I do too I hope they go to pond creek in the same shape and mood they were in last night and I think they will come away with a win. Can't wait plan on being at this one for sure should be a good game and i also agree with wilddawg a few surprises in store for the pirates. GO CARDS.

That's pretty much how it is anywhere when teams don't do as well not as many show up. If lewis county was 10-0 in the regular season the whole county would show up to the game. Lets face it a 6-4 team doesn't draw the same amount of fans as a 8-2, 9-1, or 10-0 team no matter where what team it is.

This game was over when SC started passing the ball. I'm still miffed at why our defense does not cover the reciever. They allow them to catch the ball then tackle them. I understand we play zone but when the ball is in the air zone coverage is over. You break to the ball. Not this year. Enough said.

Russell was beat by a better team. Congratulations Cards

Keep in mind in 2005 Russell drew fans from all the schools around the area. We were the only show in town.

Yes but you can't tell me that most of them were not Russell. I'm sure there were a few from other schools but The Russell fans showed up in force that night and it was down near freezing.
#50
There was far more actual Russell fans there there in 2005 than from other schools and far more Russell fans than at the sheldon clark game last night.

I would say the difference was Russell was 12-1 against Belfry and 6-4 against Sheldon Clark. Russell had a 9-1 regular season.

Why are we bringing LC into this? We brought a heck of a crowd to Belfry last night.

Because i'm pretty sure a 10-0 Lewis County team would draw many more fans than a 4-6 team. I didn't mean any harm towards Lewis just trying to make a point.

Congrats to Sheldon Clark, go to the CAM and take care of business. Russell was just out played by a better team. Glad to see #11 Brandon Sparks finally get his due. He played a good game and showed that he can throw the ball if givin chance. Only a few misques. Should have happened at the very first game. Russell was just out manned. The RB's LB's were sucking wind in the first qtr and it was just a matter of time before SC capitalized on it. To many stupid mistakes by coaches and players. The fumble was going to happen in a matter of time and it did at the wrong time, and why was the Russell players even near the ball on the punt. We've seen this all year long. And the defense didn't learn nothing from the Raceland game. Way to lose on the coverage and you get picked apart???????? And when your down 15 why do you still run the ball. That is time to pass and the sprint pass was working. Brandon threw one interception and the passing game was over????????
Congrats to the seniors.
Russell needs to improve in the weight room. Which they need a weight room first of all. And the off season conditioning needs a total make over. Russell is just to weak and out of shape. It takes total dedication and it starts at the top.

Almost got it right on the NOSE!!!!
