Good game by our boys tonight. The offense went to the end zone on every posession. The Varisty only allowed 1 or 2 first downs the entire night. The majority of Jenkins scores were on our JV and Freshmen teams. Now the Playoffs really start and we have a good Harlan team coming into town next week. Lets work hard this week boys! I sure hope we have a better crowd turnout next week. Tonights was PATHETIC!!!

Look at all the 1 seeds that scored 70 in the first round. In most cases it's not even a football game but more like a beat-down. Not blaming P'ville, They had to play this game. How about 1 getting first round bye, 2's play 3's. Getting 50 hung on you is terrible but when it gets to the point of a big majority of 1 seeds scoring 70 or better then the system we use is a big question mark????? It aint worth sending an 0-10 team to a powerfull 10-0 and getting kids who are not properly taught hurt. That's throwing the lambs to the wolves IMO. It aint worth a 10-0 state condender getting a d1 runnuning back hurt against an 0-10 or 1-9 team that has no business being there in the first place. Just my opinion. Jenkins needs to really consider going nondistrict. Just like the above quote, Now the playoffs really begin, Well THAT'S EXACTLY HOW PEOPLE SEE IT.

It's pathetic and makes no sense whatsoever. The crowd last night was an indication of how ridiculous this system is. The KHSAA, which is the biggest joke of a governing organization in the history of sports, is ruining Kentucky High School football. Put it back to the way it was and it will be beneficial to everyone.

And how about Zach BV? In his first game as a player, not just kicker has 4+ touchbacks, a 42 yard field goal, multiple tackles, an interception, and a rushing TD. And this was all in limited action. GO PANTHERS! Beat Harlan!

Maybe a new way of deciding who gets in would help stop these scrimmage type games.

Talk about politics and just trying to make evrybody happy. Bottom line is a trip to the KHSAA playoffs has no meaning AT-ALL if you don't earn it. Congrats Pikeville, good luck vs. Harlan.

I agree completely that there are alot of mismatches and teams destroying other teams, but shouldn't football be the same as all the other sports in the state of KY? Football is the only sport that doesn't allow everyone to make post season play. I think this is acceptable. What does it hurt to have things the way they are? Each team gets another game of experience under their belt. The way I see it, is that the best teams should come out winners anyway and what else would you want to do but play football on a Friday night? What does it really hurt? It doesn't water down a state title.

Won't we just spice it up a bit...won't dont' all the state winners in each of the classes play each other for a "SUPER" state title game and really have the best high school in KY. that would be cool. That if that would happend.

The play of the night has to go to Jenkins. The double pass play caught Pikeville completely off guard, leaving a receiver wide open for a 40 yard touchdown. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 14-6, and that was with ALL of Pikeville's starters in play.

thats all i heard was whining about the schedule at the first of the year. pikeville hasnt done anything against a good football team all year. no chance in class a playoffs after scrimmage games are over

Wow I still can't believe this score. Way to go Panthers. Good luck in round 2 of the playoffs.

True, but the point is that even with a line-up made up of primarily underclassmen, Jenkins still showed some potential. This team faced a daunting task, to say the least. Pikeville didn't begin to sub until the end of the third quarter. It says a lot for Jenkins that they were able to score 3 TDs on Pikeville's starting defense. I see Jenkins' coaching staff working hard to totally rebuild a system that has struggled for years. Our boys sense the dedication of the staff, community and school system and are excited for off-season training.

Just got finished watching the game to refresh my memory and noticed that with 9 minutes to go in 3rd quarter the score was 55-6 and Pikeville had no starters on the field after that. We made no attempts to squib kick or go for two in the game after our starters cam out.
