Does No School = No Game??
#1
Just curious if the JC and Belfry game is still on since school is out the rest of the week and whats your opinion should No School = No Game??

If I'm not mistaken it is up to the individual policy of each school system as to whether they can or can't play when school is cancelled.

When there was talk of this about Boyle the Rebels policies left the door open.

Lincoln County's policy was pretty much in stone and they had to cancel/forfeit.

This is the way I see it... if you can practice, you can play.

If it came down to Belfry having to forefit the game with JC due to having school cancelled for sickness Belfry would just stay up the rest of the week regardless of how many students were out lol

Floyd County teams are playing.

In basketball season, you can make up games some or most of the time. In football season, it is almost impossible to do this especially at the last regular season game of the year.

If school is being cancelled due to a virus such as the flu/H1N1, why put others at risk? Is Johnson County having problems with absenteeism?

If not, you play a ballgame and put other players at risk as well as coaches, officials, their families, I don't think they should play. I do know locally we have seen schools such as Magoffin and Jenkins to cancel games due to school being cancelled.

No School does not mean No game. i.e. during inclement weather, most of the county school close, but the inner city or private scools don't. Both teams are obligated to play. A team can forfeit or attempt to reschedule if time allows.

Well I think they should cancell the games anyway...Thats a good way to spread the flu....here in Knott County we dont understand that though...we have really low attendance and have school and play football games and grade school basketball tournament...then call it off for two days...wow alot of good that done..

If there's no school, it is the choice of the host school whether to play the game or not. IMO i think that if they practice during the week then they should play the game on friday. When ever i played highschool football there were plenty of times when there was no school and we still played.

I think its just Pike, Floyd, Martin, and Breathitt Counties have been shut down for the remander of the week. As for the games MC and Jenkins had too forfiet their games. how would you detemain who should forfiet the games if there in-county games, such as ER/SV if their not allowed too be played?

A school system having high absenteeism due to the flu and the kids are spreading the virus to each other is one thing, IMO school should be closed. If the players in the football team are sick, then the game should be canceled, but if the players are healthy then I say play the game.

In VA, it's up to the county when schools are closed due to inclement weather, and it gets really confusing. Some say you can play away if you can get there, but can't play at home, others say no out of county travel, others say no travel at all.

Also, some counties WILL allow home games only if the school is going to be open the next day (so they won't waste the heat).

I doubt too many systems have rules in place for non-weather closings.

Johnson County is closed now as well.
