Fiftyishfootballmom Wrote:I applaud your response and concur with what you have said. As an Alcoa fan, I have not been treated with anything but respect but Bell fans. I saw a couple of postings that were somewhat arrogant but I chose to ingnore them which everybody should do. Why get in a pi***ng contest?? Bell fans posted what they thought were their teams strengths and I posted the same for Alcoa. We concurred that we would have to wait and see what the best team "that night" brought to the field. Because of the kindness of the Bell fans, I am now a Bell fan and pull for them weekly.
In my humble opinion, a couple of posters are giving Bell a bad name and that is a shame. Combine that with a winning record and a great team, Bell fans are getting a bad rap. That is not fair.
This is the advice I give my kids........when somebody speaks out of turn, calls names, or in any way mouths of when they shouldn't, JUST IGNORE THEM. If they don't get a rise out of you, they will eventually shut up. So I say to all of you, IGNORE what you don't like and it will fade away. Otherwise, to banter back and keep the verbal back and forth going makes you a party to it. IT TAKES TWO TO TANGO!!
Now, you can attack me if you wish but I try always to do the right thing and I think I have done so by stating this opinion. This parent says to all of you...................enough already!
GO BOBCATS, I look forward to an excellent season for your team and will be an avid supporter.
Great post, but you will not get much back because you make nobody mad. I made what I thought to be a goog post about Bell and also saying how good this would be for both teams at the top of this page. Not one thing about that was said. Now I were to say that Bell ***** or HC ***** then there would be 10 posts defending their teams. I think alot just make some of these posts to get a rise from another person. And anyone to think that this only happens on this thread or just Bell take a look around. It happens all over. I think we could ask mom from Alcoa they get the same action on some of their web sites both good and bad.

Hatz Wrote:My point being the difference between arrogance (you just want to be like us0 and Confidence (I believe we are as good as any program).
As to the Boyle question, you can remember when they were terrible and I can remember when they were a pretty good Central Kentucky program that had no less in accomplishments than some would claim for theirs. (BTW, that was prior to Chuck Smith. Way prior)
I'm not attacking as much as pointing out the lunacy of the extremes I see (i.e. "King of the Mountains," "You Envy Us" and so on). Boyle fans can get that way as well but don't have as much to crow about historically when in a room with say Bluebirds, Shamrocks, Tigers and about another half dozen or so. For every arrogant fan, there is another program that does not have any real need to envy them at all.
I agree with you all the way Hatz I am not picking on you either I am just sick and tired of others not knowing how to act on here. sorry for using you as an example but I wish they would grow up and get a life. Bell, Rockcastle Boyle and others have great programs with pride and tradition just don't let a few bad apples ruin the whole bunch Go Bobcats!

No problem. I think you were asking a legit question. And you made some very good responses (I remember beating Boyle badly when they were terrible). Facts are fact. I used to have to try to make those games sound interesting on the radio so I above all know "how bad" Boyle was from the mid to late 80's and into about '92 or so when Chuck Smith began working on the program.

I know there are several on here that know what I am talking about and you are one of them. Before Coach Hilton got to Bell County they were 0-11 and scored only 3 td's all year.

Confidence - Having firm belief that you can win a game.
Arrogance - Telling everyone you are better than them
Swagger - Confidence once you get in a rhythm and make things look easy, calm, and cool.

Yes, Maid of the Mts; we get the same kind of thing on the Tennessee CoachT website. Mostly good, and the repeat "bad apples in the barrell" posters. More and more I see that the disrespectful posters are being ignored which helps alot.
I want to go on record apologizing for the sermon; it just sort of slipped out.
Good luck to all the KY teams.

OrangenowBlue Wrote:Bell County fans bragging about their team is one thing but belittling or demeaning other teams in the process is another. The problem is I have seen numerous threads concerning other teams, none involving Bell, and the Bell fans go into "Attack Dog" mode. Almost every team in the mountains has been a victim of a negative verbal barrage by a poster from Bell County whether they play Bell County or not. Bell County fans, be proud of your team and brag on your successes but be professional and respectful. If someone predicts another team to beat you, that is not a personal attack, it is their prediction. ANYONE with any sense knows you are the best team in the mountains with the best chance of winning another state title. Be respectful to other teams. Just because some other school's football program is not as successful as yours doesn't mean that school's fans still doesn't love them just the same.
This is exactly what i have been saying in other threads!

Ok a couple of instances the other night on the jay leno show jimmy rollins said the phillies win the world series in 5 games arrogance or confidence? 2 years agor rollins predicted the phillies winning there division and plaxico burress predicted the giants winning the superbowl with and the correct score.in these cases if other teams had a problem with it they had a chance to do something about it instead they choked.point being is when you do come out say were the best your teammates have to rally around that and defend
