Final.

This score is pretty compared to the actuality of the game. Should have been at least 52 to 7, or 52 to 0 if you negate the fumble recovery by Timmerman that should have been TD for HHS if they hadn't have fumbled it. CovCath looks dismal...before HHS 2nd team came in on defense it was 400 something yds of offense to 35 TOTAL for CovCath.

There was so many flaws in Highlands' team and I pointed out most of them. They'll be ready to go again in the playoffs.
The offense was dead, but I saw ways to beat their defense.

Highlands is overrated? You've got to be kidding me. They're currently 8-0 and just beat Covcath by 4 td's without their starting Qb. Also their defense only gave up 35 yards. I think you may be reaching on this one.
The past 3 weeks their defense has given up 7, 9, and 7. It's easy to sit there and point out flaws from the stands but until a team actually does something against them, not much you can say.

Its one thing to say that you saw many flaws in their game but will another team be able to execute them? And another question is, is what you are seeing really a flaw? Highlands D apparently had a lot of flaws going into the Cincy St. X game. Well, they dominated a much bigger team with their speed and athelticism. Every team as their flaws but they obviously have very few to have gotten to the point where they are now. Probably less than almost every team.

Pat Towles proved himself today to be a great QB for HHS.
Birds' OLine dominated, providing the openings for the RBs.
Birds' Defense was very solid.

Actually, The defense gave up zero, 0, goose egg, nada today. The TD was on a fumble return.

For the record, one thing HHS DOES need to work on is fumbles. Seems like a few kids have a heckuva time holding on to the ball. Shot themselves in the foot...and like I said should have won by a LOT more. CovCath was dismal at best. Playing easier opponents has helped pretty up their record and put a positive swing on the season; and they needed that because the past couple of years they were playing a schedule that was outrageous. But this proves they aren't anywhere near the big guys...not even close.

Near the big guys, they beat St. X(Cincy), that is a team that has whipped Trinity, Everyone and there cousins know Highlands has always been a power house, and they are this season.

Hmm, no offense but your football analysis is overrated. Highlands is FOR REAL!

I think Drizzy was talking about Covcath when it comes to their record and playing a weaker schedule...not Highlands.

Cov Cath's easy schedule?
-Ryle
-Lex Cath
-Lasalle
-Highlands
-Louis St. X
also the D for CCH didn't play amazing but being on the field as much as they were with virtually no Offence and forcing 4 fumbles on Highlands (one for a score) i think they deserve a little credit.

You are lost brother. :lmao:
Find all the flaws you want until someone stops them then come talk to us.
Give me another Sophomore in NKY or the state that can step in like Patrick Towles has done and performed as well.
Im waiting.

Ok, they can have a little credit.

I'm with 3rd Reich on Towles. This kid has stepped in and saved this team. I didn't get to watch the game but listened on the radio. Fumbles are becoming commonplace. Fumbles almost derailed the 08' Bluebirds in the playoffs. It threatens to do it again. Weinrich should be given all the credit with his Defense. I never thought I would say this at the beginning of the year, but it appears that the Highlands Defense is once again going to determine the outcome of the playoffs. They won it for them last year and will do it again. I don't see another 5A school scoring more than 24 points on them. This offense will have no problem scoring 24+ points in 4 qtrs. Yes, Highlands probably loses to a St. Xavier now, but they are still by far the best team in the state until someone knocks them off the podium. We all need to move on from Bardo's Birds to Towles Team......

That was dang close. How did you know we'd fumble three times deep in CovCath territory, which prevented the margin of victory from being much greater?

If you'd like to take a moral victory out of this, then suuuuure haha, they deserve a little credit for only giving up 36 as opposed to the 52 plus they basically did without the help of highlands.
And CovCath doesn't play a cupcake schedule, not saying that. In comparison to the last couple of schedules though, this is a nice one. This is the kind of schedule they should have been with all along, and they won the games they should have. Scott, Beechwood, NCC and Campbell Co. NCC could have gone either way though, they shot themselves in the foot. I'm not saying this isn't the right schedule for them, it obviously is and it's much easier than the past two years saw. It's great that they've won the games they were set up to win, but this game just showed they aren't ready to play with the big boys yet.

The bolded part is probably a bit over the top, but I agree Patrick played a nice game yesterday. CovCath's D couldn't stop Highlands running game the entire game. The Birds had over 300 yds rushing the ball. But when Dale called the pass, Patrick threw the ball well. Nice game by Towles. Dale did a good job easing him into the game.

I try to imagine the flip side, post-Will. In one play, the Bluebirds went from a potent triple threat (Will's run, Buten/Drennan pass, AC) to solely a running team. The Wildcat offense obviously wouldn't take them to state. Towles comes in and reestablishes the pass and has shown good scrambling skills. Without him doing this, the Birds are a one dimensional team offensively going into the playoffs. This team can't win state without a more balanced attack offensively. I'm sure all of 5A was hoping this kid comes in and throws INT after INT, fumbles, and doesn't have the ability to run out of the pocket. Fortunately, that hasn't been the case. I always look at what Highlands team we could have been looking at without a backup like Towles. To me, that vision wasn't pretty.......
