In what could be seen as the first upset of the 15th Region, Piarist, who was 0-8 in conference play, won in two sets over Prestonsburg in the play-in match. In the first set, Piarist came from behind and won 25 - 22 and Prestonsburg could not do anything in the second set and Piarist won quickly 25 - 13.

Congrats to Piarists.

The Allen Central Rebels will play fror the 54th District Championship in volleyball and appear in the 15th Region tournament for the 5th time in 5 years. The Rebels downed Piarist in 2 sets, 25-16 and 25-17. AC takes on Betsy Lane in the Championship match Thursday at 7:00p.m. after the Bobcats took a close one from South Floyd, 2-1. The Raiders were pumped and played exeptionally well claiming the 1st set. The Bobcats played catch-up but went on to win the second set and had the momentum going into the 3rd set. Betsy Lane took a commanding 7 point lead but South Floyd did not lay down and played tough to tie the score and even take the lead but they could not seal the deal and lost the set and match 25-22.

best 2 teams are playin for the district title....
#13
Either team could win. It depends on which team shows up to play. Should be a really good game, championship quality.
#14
I do agree that the best two teams are going to play it depends on who wants it more!
#15
Anybody think this will be championship of Region also??
#16
It very well could be the championship of the regional also. It's a shame that South Floyd isn't in the regional also. South Floyd is better than most of the teams that will be in the regional.
#17
Same problem applies to several of the Louisville teams; however, south floyd couldn't come close to competing with Mercy, Sacred Heart, Assumption, and others. So it isnt that big of a loss. South Floyd should start up a club team so they would have opportunity to play some of the Louisville teams then they would know where they stand.

Allen Central won the 54th District in 3 sets. This match reflected why volleyball is becoming a top girls sport in Eastern Kentucky and the state of Kentucky.
The Rebels took the 1st game , 25 - 19. Betsy Lane reciprocated winning the 2nd game 25 - 19. The 3rd game stayed close through 4 points but then Allen Central started turning up the heat and grabbed the lead, and coasted to a 25 - 14 win. I don't think anybody was a loser - it was a good match and hard fought. Some have already predicted that this will be the Regional Match Up for the championship next week.

Congratulations to both teams for making it to the Region and best of luck.

Way to go Rebels !
