Shelby Valley @ Prestonsburg 10/23 - Broadcast on 103.1 WPKE www.wpke.com
#1
I realize this game is 2 weeks away, but since Prestonsburg is off this week and Shelby Valley has a cake walk this week, I figured I would go ahead and start a thread about this game. There's always quite a bit of jawing that goes on between the two fan bases when this game comes up so I wanted to start this thread early. Let's try and keep it clean though.

As for this game, Prestonsburg wins by at least 2 TD's.

Prestonsburg 28
SV 14

Wow lol, Kind of Early for this game. But that only means its going to be a good game and wanting some early opinions.

A great game last season as Prestonsburg won on a last second TD at Valley, winning by a score of 13-12. Both teams have improved from last year. The running game from the Wildcats will be a tough one to stop for Prestonsburg. Roberts and Hughes should have some pretty good numbers in this game. Varney may struggle a little bit at quarterback. I can't see the Wildcats scoring over 21 points.

Prestonsburg's offense won't get caught out of sync too much. Michael Burchett will have everything under control and will remain cool and calm with his decision making as always. Craynon and McKinney will need to step up at the skill positions. I believe everything will be just fine in P'burg and they will go undefeated in the district once again. Here is my prediction score:

Prestonsburg - 35
Shelby Valley - 14

Good luck to both teams!

Like BCF4L said, keep this thread clean.

The Blackcats will roll in this one.. Mckinney and Griffith will continue having a great game.. Burchett will remain calm. Look for Craynon to continue to break out of his brothers shadow..

Ha. Yeah, but with P-burg off this week and SV playing Morgan Co., I think it's okay to skip ahead a week. Valley has already blown Morgan Co. out and they haven't even taken the field yet.

This may end up being Prestonsburg's last true test before we step into the playoffs. I'd like to see a good game and this will tell us all where Valley stands in 2A and just how strong they are. They have a big line, quick backs and a quick defense that could cause problems for Prestonsburg. I do think that Prestonsburg may give up a few plays to Valley that will lead to scores, but I think that Prestonsburg will eventually shut down the Valley ground game. Something that does hurt Valley is they haven't faced a team that can move the ball through the air efficiently. I think Valley will be able to contain Prestonsburg when they run, but if they cannot stop either the pass or run then this one could be over before halftime.

Should be a good game, or at least I hope so because Prestonsburg needs another close game this late in the season to keep them level headed.

Best of luck to both... GO BLACKCATS!

Please oh Please "PC you Know" stop hating on Valley!!!!!

if ya dont like the community supports, then stop posting on every thread that reads "Valley" on it.

I'll wait on the prediction, but considering how last year ended!!!!

and both teams being fairly hott at this point of the season, I'm expecting a great game from both sides.

Im thinking this game will come down to balance, with offense can get a sense of balance, and do both aspects of their offense well.(pass and run)

I do belive that P*burg will pass the ball sucsessfully on SV, i also believe that Valley will run the ball on P*burg, so which ever team can be complete on offense, in my eyes will have the keys to the game.

I really cant wait two full weeks!!!!

If I'm not mistaken, I believe PC is from Shelby Valley. Unlike you, he is a realistic fan. Shelby Valley has a great squad this season, one of their best in years. There's only one problem, Prestonsburg has one of their best squads in years (probably since 2001). I've read where you think Shelby Valley is a top 5 team in 2A, as well as some other inaccurate information on the (pretty solid, not as great as you advertised) Clintwood team that came in and held the Wildcats to 11 big points. You need get off your high horse and understand how good this Prestonsburg team is, especially on their home field. You all very well may have gotten better numbers against Bath County and may beat Morgan County by more than Prestonsburg did yesterday. Big woohoo. Doesn't mean squat. This Blackcat team has took care of business with every team they played (much tougher schedule than Shelby Valley).

If you really think that the Wildcats will come in and beat Prestonsburg you are in for a rude awakening. I'm not saying the game won't be close and Shelby Valley won't score a few points. I am telling you that Michael Burchett will tear apart the Wildcat secondary just like he has every other secondary all season long. The pure speed of Prestonsburg is going to be too much to handle. I'm as big a critic as Prestonsburg has, but this is just an honest interpretation of how I strongly believe the game will look like. I'm sure other posters that have seen this P'burg team will agree.

p-burg wins this 49-17

I like Pburg and cheer for them most of the time. I will be rooting for Valley in this one though. I think Pburg will win because of their ability to throw the ball. I seen some holes in the Valley secondary earlier in the year.
Pburg 35
Valley 21
Best of luck to both teams. Shelby Valley this is your opportunity to get some major respect in the mountains.
#17
Just for the record, Prestonburg is 9-0 against Valley since 2000, and have won by an average of 40-8. But it seems as if every year we hear of how Valley is going to beat Prestonsburg. Which I wouldn't expect them (the players) to think any different. However, some of the fans that have been on here all year pumping up Valley will get exactly what they have asked for all season. I see Valley hanging with Pburg early, and then Pburg blowing them out 2nd quarter on. JMO

Should be a good game...

However I like P-Burg in this one.
#19
valley may hang in there for a little bit, but p-burg will roll over them with the passing game unless the coach makes changes before and during the game.

49-14
#20
pburg will be to much for valley imo. Valley is doing great, but Prestonsburg seems unstopable. So im gonna go

Pburg-38
Valley- 21

hope Valley can pull it off tho!!
#21
SV has one hope to keep this game close. Run, run and more run. No timeouts, stepping out of bounds and only short completed passes. Switch up formations often to keep P-Burg guessing. Main thing is keep the clock running with P-Burgs offense on the sideline. Anyone who has watched SV this season knows their pass defense is terrible.

:flame:can,t wait to see this game.should be good.VALLEY WINS! on a dry field.21-17 if its raining p-burg wins 28-17 good luck

You people talk about how Valley can run on Prestonsburg. Let's not forget that Sheldon Clark could get absolutely nothing going on the ground and SC has a lot better ground game and O-line than Valley. You may think Prestonsburg will win just on their passing game alone but Prestonsburg has a fantastic defense as well that swarms the ball. I don't think Valley has played a team as quick as P-burg all year long. I really expect this to be a long night for Valley fans. I know I said I expect it to be at least a 2 TD win but I'm really thinking more along the lines of 4 TD's now that I've had time to sit and think about it.

The Blackcats pass and run outside. They RARELY keep it between the tackles. And...Prestonsburg is a small speed-based team, not a big power-based one.

With that said, do you really think a wet field is to P-burg's advantage ?!?

I usually stay out of this stuff, but Sheldon Clark ran for 156 yards on Prestonsburg at over 4 yards per carry. So they got something on the ground, and I'm not saying Shelby Valley will win or lose especially considering the game is 2 weeks away, but Shelby Valley has ran for almost 3,000 yards already to Sheldon Clark's 1,100 yards. Shelby Valley does have a great rushing game despite what people from outside the program think.

Against whom? Do you think SV would have the same stats if they played Pburg's schedule?

What are you talking about? I don't recall saying that they would have that many rushing yards with Prestonsburg's schedule.

I was saying that Sheldon Clark had moderate success against Prestonsburg rushing the ball in response to an earlier post saying that they got "absolutely nothing" against them.

I was stating that Shelby Valley does in my opinion and probably many others having a better rushing attack than Sheldon Clark. That is all.

No idea where your rant about comparing Shelby Valley and Prestonsburg's schedule came from especially when I wasn't even comparing their rushing attacks.

Are you really serious? The only teams that SV has played that are any good is Lawrence Co and CLintwood and they lost both of those.. If SV played Pburgs schedule do you really think they would have those 3000 yards? Better yet if Pburg played SV schedule Pburg would have 3000 yards plus 3000 passing yards.. But what ifs are just that ..What ifs... Pburg rolls big in this one
