After the win over Paintsville and Pikeville getting destroyed by Pburg I look for AC to win.

Hopefully this team takes a page from the 2006 playbook after a close win @ Jenkins, they came home and took care of a very good Hazard team. But they are going to have to learn to hit and like it. Not to arm tackle, but to run through the ball carrier and blockers. We know what Allen Central team is going to show up. Time for the maroon and white to man up and bring all they have to the table.

Pikeville better be ready for some smashmouth hard hitting football from start to finish. It aint no secret what AC does and they do it well, if Pikeville tries to arm tackle I see alot of Panther being road kill by getting run over by AC two big trucks LOL. Should be a verygood hard hitting ballgame.

How many of Pikeville players play both ways? I think that will really effect pikeville if alot of their players pull double duty. those big backs really wear on a defense by the second half and that when alot of armtackiling is done and AC takes advantage of it.

You said it! I have yet to see Pikeville play, so I don't know a whole lot about their personnel, but anyone with Allen Central on their schedule this year better prepare for some smashmouth football. Allen Central, plain and simple, wore Paintsville down in the second half last weekend. Paintsville is a very solid club, but you can tell they weren't used to taking a beating physically like the one they got from the Rebels.
This game, in my opinion, will be one of the better regular season games this season in all of Eastern Kentucky. Fans are going to witness speed, power, quickness, solid defense, power offense, and anything and everything in between! Should be a good one!

As I said preseason, this is the year AC beats Pikeville!

Allen Central is "fake undefeated" just like Shelby Valley was earlier, due to beating some very poor teams. If Pikeville isn't mentally down due to their murderous schedule, and gets fired up for this game, they win by two or three scores.

Keep your head up Panthers and take care of business!

I agree with jetpilot to a point...Allen Central has had a nice season. I never thought Id see the day theyd beat even a down Paintsville team. Pikeville has played a ridiculous schedule, and my question is, has it taken its toll on its players?? I dont care what anybody says, getting beat 63-7 and 56-7 dont make you tougher, it breaks you down mentally. Can Pikeville recover from that? I learned 15 and 20 years ago, to never bet against the Panthers in big district "showdown" games. My sr year (1993) we were 6-0, ranked 7th in the state, and had beaten then number five Evarts 7-6, a Pound team that ended up going 6-4, 51-6, shutout Elkhorn 27-0, beat Phelps on the road for the first time in several years 48-6, then beat Allen Central 81-0, South Floyd 61-0, so we thought we were ready for the Panthers. We were. We played hard, but we went to Pikeville and got handled 40-22. The previous year we went 3-8 and the Panthers beat us 14-12, lol...I dont bet against them that much, and Im not going to do that now. I think Pikeville rights the ship to this forgettable season Friday.

Sounds like a nice story but South Floyd's first year was 1994. I know cause that was my senior year LOL and we were the first graduating class.

Perhaps Tim Pelphrey will enlighten us with another article this week.

By the way, thanks Tim- the Rebel faithful really appreciate your article in last Friday's paper. I think it may have just been the "icing on the cupcake"!!

Allen Central no doubt, hard to handle the crowders, I sure didn't!

I think Allen Central can win this game if they only play with heart and if they want it more then Pikeville. this is your year Allen Central go beat Pikeville for the first time ever

You couldn't of said that any better.

If the Crowder twins are stopped, AC is stopped

Allen Central has actually earned the right of being undefeated because look at there record's the past 5 years they beat going up ever since i graduated and they have earned it and nobody needs to take that from them they have really earned there right of being undefeated and i hope they go into Pikeville and beat Pikeville for the first time ever
#54
since this game is at pikeville....that means a whole lot for pikeville....allen centrel can not defend the pass which i think is what will get them beat in this game....i think pikeville will win but a really good game....also the crowders like to put the ball on the ground and thats one thing about us panthers we like to hit you in the mouth so be ready crowders when you come to the reall ville...
#55
Pikeville has a great reputation but I think the Rebels team has spirit, drive and determination. THeir defense is great and deep. THe have the size and quickness to defeat the Panthers. AC wins 28 Pikeville 14

If...Then Wrote:If the Crowder twins are stopped, AC is stopped
You are 100% correct. However, I don't see a team in this district stopping Hunter AND Logan Crowder. You won't stop them completely, but you can hope to "contain" them. If you hold one to minimal yardage, you've still got the other one. And I think people forget about Justin Jackson. Jackson is a speed back who compliments the Crowders extremely well, and he can also play some great defense (see the Paintsville game).
I've said it since the pre-season, if you stop the Crowders, you will stop Allen Central. But that epitomizes the saying, "Easier said than done!"

I've heard from several people, and more from the Pikeville area than from outside Pikeville, that this Panther team is not your typical Pikeville team. Yes they have Branham and Robinson and some other key guys, but when you break it down, 2009 Pikeville Panthers are not your district champion Pikeville teams from years past. Playing at home will be key, but I'm really interested to see if the Panthers will be able to match the physical play of not only the Crowders, but the offensive and defensive lines of Allen Central. I'm not denying Pikeville is not, nor won't be, a physical team, but there is no team in this district more smashmouth, more physical than Allen Central. Just ask the Tigers. On paper, this game is Allen Central's to lose. But I think the biggest factor isn't one you can calculate or view from the stands...it's the fact that Allen Central has NEVER beaten Pikeville, but yet came so close last year. Jammin' Jamey made a good point on the radio after the Paintsville game last weekend...having lost a heartbreaker last season at home to the Panthers, can the Rebels overcome that "Pikeville-itis" and not let history affect them.
Allen Central is better than years past, and Pikeville quite frankly just isn't as good. I don't care about competition. I dont care about numbers, stats, records, etc. The tides in Class 1A District 8 are changing, and those outside of Eastern may want to take notice.

Don't se pikeville stopping the crowders or AC.

Can not defend the pass? How do you know this? Who has passed on them this year?
