2009 Girls OVC middle school
I want to make one thing perfectly clear, when I said It appears that maybe they are not as good as advertised. I was talking about the Verity 8th grade team. Not the 3 girls the were in Bold part of the quote. I seen all 3 of them play before and they are outstanding players.
I would have to agree that Verity 8th grade team is not where it needs to be. However I have all the confidence in the coaches and girls they will start to make the necessary adjustments to get this team to play at the level it needs to. Hopefully we will see this tonight against West Carter. They will be just fine.
Hey porkchop, They are every bit as good as advertised. They are undefeated after half the season. I just know the girls and expect them to always play at a high level. When you can play as poorly and sloppy as they are and still beat quality teams u must have alot of talent. Those three you called out are absolutely in the top 5 or so in the area individually. As soon as it translates into team, they will be able to win pretty or "as advertised".
7th had a bit of a let down against West Carter partly because of fantastic first half intensity from West. Verity was able to pull away with thier always dependable "D"and put them away in the second half. They were led by Gransbery with 15 and Robinson with 13.
The 8th finally got back on track as Justice ran the floor and rebounded nicely and Young played very well. Justice had 21.
Just heard Rose Hill got mad and left and the half in the rowan county game, any truth and what happen

I thought justice had a great game, and the girls played much more as a team. Hopefully this will carry over.
The seventh grade are battle tested and just continued to play hard.

If this did happen, was it the 7th or 8th grade game?
Also where was it being played at?
Got their late for the 7th grade game. The big 3 for Verity 8th grade played very well esp Justice. I saw where Fouts got hurt in the 7th grade game. Anyone know her status? I hope she ok.
Verity 7th is improving their game by starting to work more as team, and getting up and down the court better. The 8th play is good they just need to Be strong and take care of the ball a little better

Ha! If you can't run with the big dogs, stay outta the "gym".
Who is their 7th and 8th grade coach?
Verity's 8th grade issues stem from the fact that the ball stays in the hands of players that consistantly make bad decisions with the ball. This makes the entire team look like they have no idea what's going on while it is in fact a reflection of a couple. Coaches need to look at keeping the ball in the hands of the strongest ball handlers and watch as entire looks better.

I agree thay played well, I feel that this team has unlimited potential,They play well together and I beleive the robinson girl is the best ball handler in the OVC hands down. With foutch and Gransberry at the 3&4 this team is gonna be hard to stop.
Good Luck !!!

I never called out these three ladies. I guess I should have made it crystal clear instead of perfectly clear.

Must have hit a nerve or a parent. Thanks for the support dei227
been gone awhile but see that things always stay interesting on open forums. people seem to always have different opinions and messages sometimes get took the wrong way. however this is a forum to discuss the ovc not just verity, and everybody has an opportunity to discuss their teams progress or what they need improvement on, stats not just points scored but rebounds assist, steals because that is what some kids do to make their team better, how certain games go, ect. would like to see more schools and kids discussed on here, in positive way or improving way. some kids see this and it would be good for them to know what they do for their team is important. parents to enjoy seeing their kids name. examples how athletic the wheeler girl is, or how the pennington handles the tempo for e.c. of course certain kids are always going to be discussed they've earn that, but don't ruin the forum with parents going back and forth

I can remember playing Rose Hill in a varsity game last year at Rose Hill. Right after the game coach Watkins shook hands with the teams and then proceeded to walk right out the door without speaking to his team. This was unbelieveable, his team which was made up mostly of middle schoolers played very hard and they deserved better.

No surprise here that he left at half time.

Unbelieveable! I didn't think schools would tolerate this type of behavior. If that is true, how sad for the girls on the team.
Verity heads up the road to Rowan Co, to play in a tournament this weekend. Good luck girls.

Settle down you two..... Just think it's inapropriate to call out young girls like that. But it is obvious by your previous posts that you like to stir it up a little. If this thread is uninteresting you , there are others you can go to and post on them.
WE ARE NOT HERE TO CRITICIZE THESE YOUNG GIRLS, just to discuss the games.:ChairHit:

I agree, and i would love to see more about different players in the area. I also would like to see some other stats.
Fairview 7th & 8th grades are both 7 & 1 now.
Wanted to give some info on the small schools, since some of you guys from the large schools seem to follow them closely and keep us little league fans informed. Of course the smaller schools have kids that play hard and are working to get better as well, but those teams just dont usually have the numbers to compete with the big boys or girls per say.
Lewis Co. is the class of the 7th grade in the small schools. They have solid guard play and two 6' footers. The one post player is a beast and most teams in the 7th grade have no answer for her size and ability. In the 8th grade Russell is the team to beat with Parsley a work horse for them. Elliott has probably the top guard in the small schools in the Worthington kid. Fairview has baseball all star Kirk who is a good guard.
Lewis Co 7th Grade should not be challenged in the league, but in the 8th Grade Russell could face a challenge from Elliott or Fairview, but are heavy favorites as well to go undefeated in small school play. In the 7th McKell is probably a solid 2nd place team with Fairview and Raceland following.
Boyd County took 3 from Rowan Co. last night. 6th 7th & 8th
In the 6th Destiny Goins had a great game with around 16 pts. 7th grade Cameron Mullins had around 10 & 8th grade game Logan Fraley had around 25 with about 6 3 pointers.8th Looked impresive winning by about 16 Taylor Wheeler is a beast on defense and 7th graders Madison Humphrey,Alyson Fleighman & Cameron Mullins made big contributions in the 8th grade game. Keep up the Hard work girls.
Rose Hill lost to a very good team last night (east carter). We continue to improve each week. Keep getting better girls brighter days are ahead.

Me is glad to hear dat your team is improvin', howbeit dat it is, maybe da head coach should try some of my sweet pancake syrup to sweetin him up a little and quit pullin kids off da court and goin home. You'ins never goin get da calls on da road.
