Ashland 28 Russell 7
#1
final congrats Ashland
#2
2 things:

1) Russell's offense had nothing for Ashland's defense all night long. There are more Ashland players at the point of the play than Russell players. It's like they know what's coming.

2) Josh Alber. (although Ashland inexplicably goes away from him all too often -he could have had 300+ yds tonight if they would have kept giving him the ball)
#3
ashlands back....good statement game for ashland
#4
Ashland is getting their licks in now but Russell will return the favor in the next few years with some good teams coming up.
#5
Congrats to Ashland!!
#6
most incomplete tomcat game ive seen all year this team resembled nothing of the team the first 3 weeks stupid penalties and two turnovers kept this game closer than it should have been ill take the win but to win next week we have to fix these mistakes it is gonna take a perfect game to beat the tiggers
#7
Ashland is playing some really good ball! Nice win!

The Tomcats are for real.

Congratulations to Ashland. The Kitty Cats roared tonight.

To add on to Ryans remarks, Alber is the best football player in the area. Ashland's defense is impressive but the way they spread you out and hit Alber up the middle is tough to defend. Tonight it was definitely the Alber show. He was unstopable in the open field.

Neither team has much of a passing game and Russell really needs one because they cannot block the back side against a good defense. The back side of the line and linebackers for Ashland were in Russell's backfield all night. Ryan, everybody knows where the plays are going. They have for years. Thats not going to change. What does need to change is the blocking if you can call it that, and not just on the line, the backs didn't block anyone either.

On defense Ashland dared Russell to pass and they could not. It was there and there were some opportunities for Russell but the passing game right now is nonexistant and that has to change if Russell wants to compete with a really good team. Ashland is really good.

Russell's defense although not very good tonight has to carry them. To me I think I would have sold out on stopping Alber up the middle and made them pass. Hunter is a good scrambling QB but not much of a passer.

Ashland holds really well and at least tonight got away with it.

Finally this was one of the dirtiest games I have watched in a while. By both teams. These two schools do not like each other and it showed. Sportsmanship went right out the window.

Ashlands defense is amazing, it looks like they have more than 11 players on the field, good game, but could have been alot worse for russell. cats looked flat in second half. May it be noted.....russells ONLY score came in the last seconds, with the starting QB against our jv/freshman....from inside the 15 yard line. gg guys russell keep your heads up, You dont have to play Ashland again until next year.

It'll take more than that to beat the Tiggers.

The stupid penalties were rampant on both teams. There should have been alot more flags thrown than there were.

You couldn't have said that any better. How many completions were there tonight from both teams? 1 or two I recall. Very bad sportsmanship in second half

That was not the starters in the game that scored. But you are right. that Russell's only score came in the final seconds with the subs in the game. Russell could not move the ball at all against Ashland's defense.

As for next year we will have to wait and see how that one turns out then.

I may have heard wrong but I thought they said Jordan Roark threw pass and Logan Dehoff started.

Good points on all accounts.

You know...Ashland lost a LOT this year when they lost Carter. Can you imagine this team with both Alber and Carter coming at you? I guess Greenup can, because they were the only team in the area to get to see it.

You said it all, though, about Russell. They have major problems on the line and no passing game whatsoever. It seems like their passing game has always consisted of a QB who can loft the ball up in a general area and a receiver or 2 who can win the one on one battles for the ball. This year they have neither.

Yeah, thats a long time from now. anyways russell DID have their starting QB in. does anybody know how many yards russell had before they put the subs in?

agreed and as far as your sportmanship comment i agree but the officials let it get that way by not caling the personal fouls early they tried to just let these teams play and it got out of hand

They had a sure TD in the second quarter that would have tightened the game up considerably. Only problem was they didn't catch the ball and it was perfectly thrown.

The screens were also there. Dehoff was under constant pressure and missed alot of dump offs and screens that could have gone for big yards. Ashland was sold out on the run and Russell could not make them pay.

15 starting the 4th.

105.7 said the russell td pass was from Jordan Roark to Nathan Taylor.

The officials were terrible.

Good luck against Ironton. I know they were up 19-0 on Gallipolis in the first half. I don't know what the final was.

I think it was Sparks to Taylor on the TD.

May have I just caught tail end of it as I was switching back to the russell game from the greenup-raceland game.

They could have made the statement had they kept giving the ball to Alber. The rest of the offense doesn't live up to what he brings to the table.
#28
If i'm not mistaken this is the same crew that has done the games the past 3 years.

Alber made a statement. He did everything tonight. He was unstoppable in the open field. I said earlier in the week he is alot of fun to watch. Just not when he is playing against your team.

Alber is a freaking TANK
