NEW YORK — Michael Vick is back in the NFL. Now all he needs is a team to play for. Vick, free after serving 18 months in prison for running a dogfighting ring, was reinstated with conditions by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday. He could participate in regular-season games as early as October.
Vick can immediately take part in preseason practices, workouts and meetings and can play in the final two preseason games -- if he can find a team that will sign him. A number of teams have already said they would not.

Once the season begins, Vick may participate in all team activities except games, and Goodell said he would consider Vick for full reinstatement by Week 6 (Oct. 18-19) at the latest.

Goodell suspended Vick indefinitely in August 2007 after the former Atlanta Falcons quarterback admitted bankrolling a dogfighting operation on his property in Virginia. At the time, Goodell said Vick must show remorse before he would consider reinstating him.

"I accept that you are sincere when you say that you want to, and will, turn your life around, and that you intend to be a positive role model for others," Goodell said in his letter to Vick. "I am prepared to offer you that opportunity. Whether you succeed is entirely in your hands."

"Needless to say, your margin for error is extremely limited," the letter said. "I urge you to take full advantage of the resources available to support you and to dedicate yourself to rebuilding your life and your career. If you do this, the NFL will support you."

Goodell said he spoke to numerous current and former players and coaches as he weighed his decision and that the responses were "very mixed."

Love It, vick was amazing to watch, cant wait to see him back out on the field

I disasgree with the ruling. I think its outrageous and foolish to allow him to play. I would hope team owners feel the same way and i hope he gets escorted out of every program he tries to persaude. After all he is washed up period!

You guys are shocked and outraged? He done his debt to society, even though the things he did was cruel and completely unorthodox it doesnt mean he shouldnt be able to play a sport he loves again, people that do steroids and cheat at there sport would qualify for permanent ban, i mean seariously u guys are complaining about the vick situation when danta stallworth or whatever killed someone, the guy done 23 months for his crime that he was convicted of, let him be.
#8
He's the dream QB for the Wildcat offense, hello Miami goodbye Chad! Ironic if Vick did wind up where he's brother's career ended.
#9
I don't see why people are shocked either. The people who are basically calling for his head should be lucky a celebrity of his caliber got 2 years in jail for what he did. Stallworth killed a man and gets what 30 days in jail? Some people have went way to far over the top on the Vick subject. Like Goodell said, he doesn't have the right to withhold someone from earning a living.

100% agree. There was another pro athlete who only got probation for a DUI death but I do not recall his name.
#11
The debt is paid. I'm not saying give his life back, But he should be allowed to rebuild it. It will be a long process for him. Who knows, he may turn out to be a better person this time.
#12
He will be an all pro clip board carring machine.

Id love to see a team like my ravens pick him up.
Joe Flacco is gonna start no doubt.
But behind him, Troy Smith and John Beck no one proven to do anything. Stats of those two are 6 tds and 3 ints.

But in all seriousness I see him going to the Vikings. They have Tarvarious Jackson and Sage Rosenfellas.

Its like watching a pack of dogs(PitBulls) chase a lonely very quick cat. How ironic is it that vick would be the cat in this case Smile

No he didnt do steroids but did do marijauna. He had it in a makeshift water bottle. He refused to let authorities search it before boarding a plane. But they knew what it was and knew he was a thug punk. They confiscated it and found the dope. His lawyer put together all the BS that said he didnt know it was in there. Long story short he is a repeat offender and a criminal. Go ahead and support him if you will. No amount of prison time will change someone like that.

MY pet peeve - ppl. who post false stuff on msg. boards.

Tell me, what type of person are you? And I'm serious about this.

1. Did you hear this from someone and believe every bit of it?
2. Did you see this on a msg board and believe every bit of it?
3. Did you hear the airport story, then made up your mind, then didn't bother following the story to see what happened?
4. Plain, out-and-out Glen Beck.

I'm really curious, because this seems to be all the rage this year (making stuff up about guys whose skin is darker than mine)

"No he didnt do steroids but did do marijauna."
Yep. Start with 1 truth, then run thru a list of false stuff.

"He had it in a makeshift water bottle."
Really? Did you see it? Because no one else has.

"He refused to let authorities search it before boarding a plane."
They didn't ask to search it... they asked FOR it. To TAKE it. And KEEP it.

"But they knew what it was..."
Yep... a container with more than 3 ounces of liquid, which isn't allowed on planes.

"...and knew he was a thug punk."
Really? They told you this?

"They confiscated it..."
Nope... he GAVE it to them.

"...and found the dope."
No, they didn't. (If they had, why was he allowed to get on the plane?)

"His lawyer put together all the BS that said he didnt know it was in there."
You have proof that he DID know?

"Long story short he is a repeat offender and a criminal. Go ahead and support him if you will. "

True. He is a criminal, and he broke more than one law.
I've broken the law, too. Got a speeding ticket once, but have, admittedly, been eligible for more.
Don't always come to a complete stop at all stop signs.
Probably trespassed a few times back when I was a kid, too.

"No amount of prison time will change someone like that."

Remember, this wasn't a kid who was groomed to be a star from age 13. Came from a bad neighborhood. Had bad influences all around him. Dad left, Mom drove a school bus. Wasn't even 1st team all district in HS.
Now he's lost more than one multi-million $ contract. I think he's been given some incentive to change.

 He had enough incentive to change before he broke the law that sent him to jail in the first place and didn't!

She was around 415 at that time. Still VHS-helper insist that im part of some trend making up stuff about people who's skin is darker than mine????

Im sorry but what you've said isn't true. He did not have a bottle with marijuana in it. The airport security asked for the bottle because it didnt meet criteria to be allowed and then reported that it "smelled" of marijuana. It "smelled" of marijuana, but there was nothing inside. Nothing was found and he hasn't failed a drug test. So even though its very likely that he smoked marijuana your story is not accurate, and you would know this if you would check up on a story before posting.

Thank you for getting it straight. I checked out my story and was off by some margin. I was going off what was originally aired on ESPN! However go to Wikipedia and type in Michael Vick. There is a plethora of criminal fact. Early 04- two arrested for marijauna distribution operating a vehicle belonging to Vick. 04-Vicks friend and employee while passing through security at the airport stole a security personnel's watch. Vick was present and after intervention by the Falcon's problem fixer the watch was returned. 05 Sonya Elliot alleged that Vick gave her herpes and failed to inform her he had the disease. She sued Vick and the suit was settled out of court. it was also discovered that Vick had been treated for the disease at various clinics under the name Ron Mexico. Vicks response was to have custom Jersey's printed with his number and Mexico on the back. They where distributed and later banned by the NFL. Also on wikipedia is an extensive list of financial troubles including illegally taking money from his employees retirment plans and so on. All ive been trying to prove is he is unfit for the NFL. IMO its the full responsibility of the NFL and they have neglegently allowed him to further his career! Nothing personal. Do you still think he should play?????
