I hear AC had signups a few weeks ago and only had 5-6 boys indicate they were playing and one of those is now moving to another county. Sounds like a LONG season at AC.

It is going to take a huge effort on Coach Martin's part to bring discipline to this team. Lets see if he does have the support of the administrators and from the round house when one frustrated athlete (parent) starts something. This has been the big problem with PCCHS athletc programs, except one program.

Pike Central is scheduled to play in the Allen Central panorama on Thanksgiving eve. Also, Allen Central plays Pike Central for its home opener in December.

Remember, it is a game and we are talking about kids and their schools. We need to support and enforce sportsmanship rules, in particular emphasizing 'positive values' and create a sense of 'respect, responsibility, and perspective.'

Glad he gets to start over. Johnny has had several good teams and a few great teams at AC(1 regional title 94', 2 All A regional titles 99 & 01, and 3 regional runner up finishes) and has also had only 3 losing season to my knowledge. I think that those losing seasons were from the 03-04 team who was 2 games under .500 and the 04-05 and 05-06 teams who combined to win only 5 games. But in his time as head coach he has help develop some great players and sent a few of his players to the next level. Good pickup PC and hopefully he can have the same success.

Coach Martin was a great coach for Allen Central and will hopefully have success at Pike Central. Everyone seems to think or believe that he was 'fired' from Allen Central; the fact is, and you can ask Coach Martin, he knew when he decided to leave the PE position at Allen Central to take another position (first Homebound, then PE at OU, and finally a Teacher at Betsy Layne) that he had made a BIG mistake. He knew that extracurricular positions (such as coaching) were decided on a yearly basis and that if someone within the school signed up and was qualified, he could / would be bumped (history repeated itself because it is understood that that is how Coach Johnny Martin was first hired as the AC Coach). It happened and Coach Martin Retired. Will the AC 'faithful' be wearing blue and orange? Will they be on the home side or the visitor side? Surely the AC 'faithful' will be there to cheer on the Allen Central boys. It would boggle the mind to believe that AC 'faithful' (Alumnus, faculty, staff, and people of the surrounding communities) would show up to cheer on the Hawks. If that is the case, then they are NOT AC 'faithful' but PC 'faithful'. Right? Coach Johnny Martin was a great coach and a loved coach at Allen Central - that should be his legacy...he is now Pike Central's coach. He has moved on, time for the AC 'faithful' to do the same.

Of course you are entitled to your opinion but schools have to operate in accordance with policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. It is agreed that if a person can find a better job or better one's self, they should. However, if a person knowingly and willingly leaves their position with the full understanding that their departure could disqualify them from any extra curricular position the next year in that school, who is ultimately responsible for that action?

Let's not get picky about "qualifications". Allen Central overlooked qualifed/certified teachers for the PE position. To hire an uncertified person who was enrolled in a program to obtain a teaching certificate while teaching (a type of emergeny certification). A person who had tried to do the same program a few years back and didn't complete the requirements and lost their job. Any of that ring a bell.

It was no secret at Allen Central that Sis Hall and Johnny Martin did not see eye to eye. Johnny made the decision to move to the homebound position with the hope that the distance between him and Sis would keep their relationship tolerable.

Did this person ever get their teaching certificate? I know when this person got the job they did not have a teaching certificate.

You must be awfully close to the administration to know this much about eveyrything. This is the waymost people get their positions, you do me a favor and I will do you a favor. Does this sound familiar? It does to a lot of people that know what goes on at AC
