Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron identified the woman as 20-year-old Sahel Kazemi, whom he called a "friend" of McNair's. She had a single gunshot wound to the head.
Kazemi had been dating McNair for months and the crime appeared to be a murder-suicide, the Tennessean newspaper reported on its website early Sunday morning. Kazemi's ex-boyfriend told the paper that she and McNair met at a Dave & Buster's restaurant where she worked. Neighbors also recalled the two together

Looks like somebody got jealous. He was shot multiple times, she was shot once in the head.

This is a Murder/Suicide, so doubtful that it was a Jealousy situation, more like a Fatal Attraction deal.

Very tragic news, I always enjoyed watching McNair play. He was a very tough, strong-armed QB and the one that broke the mold on the black QB stereotype. May he RIP.

Just heard on the radio a police report that stated the following:
- McNair was shot at cloase range 4 times
- The female was shot in the side of the head once, apparently with the barrel of the weapon pressed against the skin
the gun was found directly under her body. The body nor the gun appear to have been moved.
- No forced entry was evident.
I think we have all felt murder/suicide and it appears that by the middle of the week the police will confirm this. What a shame.

When I first read about this, they said they hadn't found the gun at first but later found it next to the body. I didn't know it was under her. Your right it's a murder/suicide.

Good point. In life, there are more chances that bad things happen when we do something bad. You never know what life has in store for you, but this is an instance that this is an incident that had a chance to be avoided. I feel for the kids.

Mike Mu, who has worked with McNair's charitable foundation for years, said Mechelle McNair âdidn't know who this girl is.â
Mechelle McNair, who has not spoken publicly since the shooting, has been described by people close to her as being very upset and distraught. Agent Bus Cook said McNair's wife was âin and outâ of it in the hours after the shooting.
Kazemi's family told reporters that the woman was so confident McNair was divorcing his wife of 12 years that she was preparing to sell her furniture and move in with the former quarterback.
Mu is handling media inquiries for Thursday night's memorial service in Nashville. A funeral service will be held Saturday in Mississippi.
The close friend who reported McNair's death to 911 defended his friend since their days playing football at Alcorn State to The Tennessean. Robert Gaddy, who did not immediately return a text message to his cell phone from The Associated Press on Wednesday, said the couple's Nashville home was on the market because they were looking for a new house.
âPeople need to quit talking about what they don't know. Mac never said anything to me about he was going to get a divorce, and ever since this has all happened everybody is trying to paint a certain picture and they need to talk about what they know,â Gaddy told newspaper.

Same-sex rape case heard (from 2007)
http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll...001&Ref=AR
BATAVIA - The trial of a woman charged with raping another woman who worked for her as an exotic dancer included testimony that dragged in the names of a professional wrestler now featured in Playgirl magazine and an NFL quarterback who was in Cincinnati last year to play the Bengals.
Judge Jerry McBride of Common Pleas Court listened to explicit testimony at the Clermont County Courthouse during the two-day trial this week. He said he will rule on the case Dec. 21.
Prosecutor Don White said that in his 19 years in office he couldn't recall any other Clermont County rape case involving two women.
Defendant Tracy N. Adkins, 28, of Clermont County, has pleaded not guilty. Adkins testified Tuesday she had consensual sex with a 20-year-old dancer from Warren County whose stage name was Summer. The Enquirer isn't publishing her real name because of the nature of the allegations.
The dancer claimed she was raped Dec. 7, 2006, in a home owned by professional wrestler Sean Casey, police said.
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Steve McNair's name was mentioned repeatedly during testimony, although he isn't alleged to have been involved in any crime.
Summer testified she flirted with McNair around the time of the alleged rape.
The defense tried to discredit Summer by calling a witness who testified that the dancer had actually had sex with McNair.
Casey and Adkins live together in the Willowville neighborhood of Union Township, police said. Adkins said Casey is her fiancé.
She is the general manager of Naughty Bodies, a Mount Carmel company that provides dancers for parties, Adkins testified. While pictures of her appear on the company Web site, she isn't a dancer.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. â Former NFL star Steve McNair was shot dead in his sleep last week by a 20-year-old girlfriend distraught about mounting financial problems and her belief that he was seeing someone else, police said Wednesday.
Sahel Kazemi âwas spinning out of controlâ when she shot McNair four times as he dozed on a sofa early Saturday, then turned the gun on herself, Police Chief Ronal Serpas said.
Interviews with friends revealed that she was making payments on two cars, her rent was doubling and she suspected the married McNair was having a second affair with another young woman.
She told a friend on Friday that âMy life is a ball of s--- and I should end it,â Serpas said.
Police earlier had labeled McNair's death a homicide, but waited for further tests and the revelations about Kazemi's personal problems before concluding that she pulled the trigger of a 9 mm semiautomatic pistol in a condominium McNair rented with a friend.
McNair, 36, a quarterback for the Tennessee Titans most of his career, met Kazemi six months ago at a sports cafe where she was a waitress and his family often ate. She seemed happy and eager to build a life with him, but something went wrong.
âWe do know that she was clearly sending a message during the last five to seven days of her life that things were going bad quickly,â Serpas said, though there was no indication she told anyone she planned to harm McNair.
