Quote:(CNN) -- Entertainer Michael Jackson was taken to a hospital on Thursday after suffering cardiac arrest, sources briefed on the situation told CNN.

A Los Angeles fire official told CNN that paramedics arrived at Michael Jackson's home after a 911 call.
Paramedics revived Jackson before taking him to the hospital.

Fire Capt. Steve Ruda told CNN a 911 call came in from a west Los Angeles residence at 12:21 p.m.

Ruda said Jackson was treated and transferred to the UCLA Medical Center.

Asked specifics of the patient's condition, the spokesman said he could not discuss them because of federal privacy laws.

The music icon from Gary, Indiana, was known as the "King of Pop."

Jackson was the seventh of nine children in a well-known musical family.

CCN has confirmed he was in a coma, LA Times says they have confirmed he has passed away.
#6
Yes, MSNBC just said he died.
#7
Yeah I'd say it's for sure now. Very sad day. Love him or hate him, we all know he was a big talent. Isn't it scary that a man in his shape, and you know he was in good shape all of his life, had cardiac arrest?
#8
^
Yeah, um Michael Jackson has been in terrible shape for several years now, he wasn't healthy at all whether it had been due to drugs or his surgeries catching up to him his body was just catching up to him.

His arteries weren't clogged though.

He died of cardiac arrest, which is not a heart attack, but may be caused by a heart attack.

This whole situation just seems very odd.

Sportscenter just closed by saying Michael has passed away.

I'd like to hold judgment on behalf of the deceased on how he passed away. It is reported that it was Cardiac Arrest, however we won't know until after an autopsy. Let's not get to carried away with with it was until after it is "official".

Wow - we have alway heard of deaths in three's. First Ed McMahon a couple of days ago, then Farah Fawcet and Michael Jackson in the same day. All pretty big cultural stars in their own right. I will assume that this will be as big as when Elvis passed away.

This is horrible. Very sad day.
#14
Very sad day when one of the best musical talents ever dies.

Watching all the news coverage really gives insight to how tough being MJ really was. It is a very good way to look back and start to learn a lot from the people who had personal experiences with him.
#16
He really was a talented man back in the 80's, seems like once he had the Race change everything went downhill.
#17
I seen him in concert back in the 80's and there was NOBODY as gifted as Michael, but things happened and things happened.... But, nobody was as gifted as he.....
#18
R.I.P. Michael Jackson. You will be missed by all, young and old. You will never be forgotten.
#19
Nobody can doubt his talent. I'm sure years from now Ill tell my grandkids about how I watched do the moonwalk for the first time back in '83. But with all the accusations that surrounded him I find it real hard to be too broke up about it.

I am truly devastated about the passing of MJ. Put away all of the accusations and controversies, he was a legend to the music world and opened doors to those who followed after his rise to fame. It's really sad to see one of the greats passing, but it's life; death happens to everyone. I am honored, though, to have danced my last dance routine of my high school career to the music and styles of MJ...his legacy and music will live on forever.

Good Post lil dog. I think in time, everyone will forget all the accusations and look at MJ is purely an icon. I'm with you, this is very sad, but my thoughts are not just of his great talents, but the surrounding controversy. But we are a society of "forgive and forget", and the billions that will mourn his loss will pay no heed to the transgressions that may have been made by MJ. Elvis had a tremendous amount of controversy, yet people freely throw that out in their memory banks and only remember him as the "King". We will see that same iconic reverence to MJ. I don't think any MAN deserves that kind of reverence.

Elvis was never accused of raping children though.
#25
I don't want anyone to die, but I could honestly care less. Any man who has done what he has done to children is dead to me anyways...But like mentioned, a true talent in the music world and a day I too will never forget.

TMZ is now reporting that MJ received a daily dose of Demerol, a synthetic narcotic, and his death is probably from an overdose of this. There was a doctor that (as it appears) lived with MJ and was responsible for giving him the injections.

The current thought is, that yesterday the doctor gave him too much Demerol which caused the cardiac arrest. Interestingly enough, the doctor's BMW was towed from MJ's house last night and he is nowhere to be found today.
