Prestonsburg fail short in the semi's to Louisville Seneca.
Prestonsburg defeated Louisville Eastern, Western Hills, and Lexington Catholic in Pool Play.
In the tournament they defeated Somerset in the 1st round, Lexington Catholic in the 2nd round, and like I said above, fail short to Louisville Seneca in the semi-finals.
Prestonsburg's JV also made it to the semi-finals in the JV bracket.
Impressive showing for a 2A team from EKY.

Prestonburg,
I wanted to throw in a note here. I was lucky enough to adminstrate a couple of the JV games Prestonburg played today.
They only had 7 kids. They only had 1 coach.
One of their fellows (had #21 on his helmet) got hurt during their second game I believe, but was able to play through.
I forget how they did in pool play. I believe they were a #5 or #6 seed come tournament time?
Either way, they beat a very good LexCath team. They showed a lot of determination in that game. Lots. They were down by at least 2 TDs at one point and came back to win by 4 in the second half.
Against Madisonville-North Hopkins, they were once again very gritty and it literally came down to the last play (a dropped ball in the endzone that would have set them up for the PAT to tie or win).
Once again, very impressed with those kids composure, the way their coach handled them, the way the kids rallied around one another, the QB (Adam?) handled his fellow players, and the support of their small contingent of fans there at the JV fields.
Nice job. My first experience with a team from Prestonburg. Just wanted to share that.

Yeah, the quarterback is Adam Crisp.
#21 may have been Cain Collins, not sure if the players wore their numbers or not.
Thanks for your kind words!

How did Paintsville do?
06-21-2009, 12:26 AM
(hate to describe him this way) #21 was a black kid. I don't know if his name was Cain? I thought there was another kid named Cain on their team though? I may have been getting them confused.
No sweat on the compliments. Its easy when its the truth. Some good fellows on that team. I know their folks and their coaches are proud tonight.

Yeah thats Cain.
Prestonsburg has a really good coaching staff and one that the entire community is behind. Just wish that some of the bigger boys would come out for the team and help out the skill players because thats where all the talent is.

Madisonville actually BEAT Greenville in pool play.
I can assure you that the score I posted was correct. I administrated the game.

Mainly at UK's practice facility, Nutter indoor, and Shively track. The JV tournament was held at the intramural fields along Cooper Drive.
I was with the JV tournament. We went over in time to watch the last 4 teams in the Varsity still playing (that was Shelby County v/s St. X and Seneca v/s Prestonburg).
I know Somerset's JV struggled a little bit. Kids had a really good attitude though and their coaches I would say the same thing too. Not a bad group of kids. They had a fellow wearing #7 who was really fast. The Somerset QB seemed to want to go deep a lot at first, but once they settled down and started working on first downs they moved the ball a little better. I think they were a #7 seed in the tournament. I believe they lost to Madisonville-NH in the tournament (M-NH was a #2 seed).

I'm not sure why they wound up in the consolation bracket?
Lexington Catholic #2 26, LCC 9

Sounds like Letcher Central did well enough considering a new quarterback, and a new offensive coach.

I apologize cougarpride08. I simply copied that off of the list I got from UK. I had nothing to do with the Varsity side of it. I just got to watch the last 4 teams play.
Sorry about that.
